Michael’s voice quickens, even quavers, when he speaks of Lisa Marie. How she enjoys the baby. How they are still close after an amicable divorce. How they frolicked overseas the month before. He seems to pine for her. “Lisa Marie was just with me in Africa,” Michael says. “We (went to) IMAX theaters, simulated-ride safaris, dinner. We went parasailing. It was wonderful.” Even Debbie has acknowledged that Michael is still smitten. “He cares about her very much, but it didn’t work out and he was devastated,” she has said. “He loved her very much. Still does.” When asked if Lisa Marie has ever expressed second thoughts about not having been the one to bear his son, Michael insists, “She regrets it. She said so.” Would she still consider having a kid with him? “She’d like to, yes,” he says putting a mischievous finger to his lips. “Shh.” And there, on one nightstand, rests a framed photograph of Lisa Marie. Not a recent snapshot. Or even a formal portrait. But a picture apparently cut out of a magazine, placed as a child would place it, cockeyed, in a frame meant to hold a photo twice its size. A picture of Elvis and is little girl, then only five years old.” This is the age,” Michael says, “when I first met Lisa Marie. When her father first came to my concerts. I’ve known her ever since.”

LaToya’s divorce papers detail abuse charges

LaToya Jackson’s marriage to agent Jack Gordon has gone from a tabloid melodrama over abuse allegations to the granting of a temporary protective order. On Friday May 10, Jackson filed for divorce from the man she married in Reno in 1991. The divorce papers, filed in Clark County District Court, offer the standard “incompatability” as the grounds and list only the couple’s houses in New York and Las Vegas as the community property to be divided. Court papers only hint at other valuables, which could include proceeds from Jackson’s marginal singing and acting careers and from psychic infomercials and her cable pay-per-view topless club tour. Jackson’s affidavit in support of the temporary protective order portrays Gordon as an abusive spouse who beat her with a bottle on May 2 in New York. Several weeks before, she stated, “he beat me because I refused to perform” in a European concert. Jackson, who turns 40 on May 29, complained that he then left her alone in New York for three weeks with no money before concluding she had been “punished enough.” She said he summoned her to Florida and again asked her to perform the European engagement but again she refused. “I said, ‘No, I’m not working for you any longer,'” she recalled in court documents. “So he beat me again.” “This has occurred many times (and) he repeatedly tells me he’s going to kill me,” Jackson swore in the affidavit that went to protective order commissioner Jack Fields on May 7. An attachment to the application for a protective order contends Gordon threatened to kill her “and if I don’t get you, my friends will.” On May 6, she gave a voluntary statement to Metro Police about the same incident, stating that Gordon also was mad at her over an “insurance matter.” The protective order was granted May 7 and is in effect until May 28 when a hearing is scheduled that will give Gordon an opportunity to present his side of the story. “We were both sitting on the bed and Jack just stared at me for a long time,” she said of the May 2 incident. “You could tell by his stare he was angry with me and wanted to hurt me. “He threw the bed spread over my head. When I went to take it off, he grabbed my left arm and twisted it real hard. It felt like he was going to twist my arm off or out of joint. “He then let go and started hitting me with a Diet Coke bottle. When he stopped hitting me, I asked him if he was done. He laid down on the bed and went to sleep.” In seeking the protective order, Jackson said Gordon also beat her and pulled her hair in April. She indicated that in the summer of 1994, Gordon was arrested in New York City on domestic violence charges. In recounting the incident, Jackson said: “He beat me with a chair, kicked me in the stomach repeatedly. I was knocked out and he thought he had killed me. I was lying in a puddle of blood larger than I was.”

May 14 : Michael visits the Pierrefonds Castle, located approximately 90 kilometers north of Paris, in the Oise department, on the outskirts of the Compiègne Forest. Michael is fascinated by the model of the castle, located at the end of the guard room. Created in 1878 for the Universal Exhibition, this 1/50 scale stone model remains impressive (height: 145 cm, width: 250 cm, length: 350 cm). Michael’s bodyguards reportedly took many photos, and it is said that the star asked for the plans of the model. What is certain is that Michael Jackson had a model of the castle made for his Neverland Ranch. It measured 269 cm x 335 cm x 365 cm. Slightly larger than the model at the castle, Michael’s model stood in the middle of his living room, with, for a time, a framed photo of the castle on the wall.

In 1998, at age 18, Jordan files a complaint against Jackson for the same reason. The arbitrations are consolidated. In 1999, a court rules in Jackson’s favor and threw out the lawsuit.

June 11 : A Las Vegas judge has ordered LaToya Jackson and her husband-agent Jack Gordon to stay away from each other. Judge Fran Fine issued a protective order Monday banning the two from getting within 100 feet of each other pending a June 28 hearing on a permanent order.

June 24 : People magazine publishes a picture of Steven Spielberg visiting Michael on the set of Ghosts.

June 25 : LaToya Jackson is using a new federal law to accuse her estranged husband Jack Gordon of repeatedly beating her into performing topless. The singer said in a lawsuit filed Monday in federal court in Las Vegas that her soon-to-be ex-husband violated her civil rights under the 1994 Violence Against Women Act. Jackson accused Gordon of slapping, punching and hitting her until she agreed to perform at topless shows in Pennsylvania, Ohio and Europe. On two separate occasions, Jackson said she was hit with a soda bottle and chair. “This is precisely what Congress wanted to stop, this beating up a woman until she posed for Playboy,” Jackson’s attorney, R. Brian Oxman, said Monday. Jackson is seeking an estimated $20 million, the amount she said she made from the performances and magazine photo shoots. “When you pimp or pander and beat a woman into submission to do these things, I think it’s only appropriate that you give back what you made off her,” Oxman said. But Gordon steadfastly maintains that Jackson’s allegations are “absolutely not true,” and the money was made by him while he managed his wife’s career.
