Fandom
It was the crash heard around Genoa City! Cassie was quickly transcending from little girl to a young woman. Sharon was keeping an eye on her and getting progressively more worried. When Cassie wanted to attend a party, Sharon hesitated but Nick encouraged her to let Cassie go. Daniel was at the party and, when Lily ignored him, he drank more than he could handle and passed out in the backseat of a car. Cassie’s crush on the older Daniel led her to get into the driver’s seat without a license and low and behold, she crashed, leaving Daniel with no memory of the accident.
As Cassie lay in the hospital in critical condition, Daniel stood blamed for everything. Cassie escaped from the hospital to tell Daniel it wasn’t his fault, but this spiked her fever and, in a powerful Y&R; moment, Cassie said her good-byes to Victor, Nikki, Victoria, Noah, Nick and Sharon and the moniter flat lined and Cassie died with Nick and Sharon in the room.
Determined more that ever to put Daniel behind bars, Nick would stop at nothing. Daniel and Lily decided to run away together to California where they were ultimately caught and leaving Daniel to face trial for the murder of Cassie. Under the full proof investigating powers of Paul and Christine, it was discovered that Cassie was the driver and Daniel was set free, but not without first leaving a powerful impact on all of Genoa City.
With Nick pre-occupied with Cassie’s death, Victoria took over Newman enterprises, and in a surprise move, hired Brad Carlton. Brad and Sharon became quite close as well when Nick became distant and Sharon enjoyed spending time with not only Brad, but became close to Abby, giving Ashley reason to worry.
Sharon earned her spot of Newman Enterprises’s Beauty of Nature line spokes model. When on the rode to promote the products, Brad and Sharon ended up in a kiss that Sharon soon regretted, vowing to work on her marriage.
Meanwhile, Phyllis and Nick had been forming a bond of their own. After first bonding at Michael’s bachelor party, Nick asked Phyllis to work on Newman’s Web site before the Web cast of the new line. When the Web cast failed, it was first presumed that Phyllis had corrupted the site, but, much to the chagrin of Jack, she actually had not. This further improved relations with Nick and Phyllis. As the holidays rolled around, Phyllis and Daniel made amends with the Newmans by bringing by pie on Thanksgiving, further strengthening Phyllis and Nick’s friendship. Finally, when Brad and Sharon were away on business, Nick and Phyllis made love! Vowing to keep it a secret, Nick did not tell Sharon despite her confession that she kissed Brad.
All the while, Brad had been romancing Victoria, a move that didn’t sit very well with her family. After making love to her, however, he confessed to Sharon that he was in love with her! When Sharon neglected to return the sentiment favoring to work on her marriage instead, Brad proposed to Victoria on New Year’s Eve!
With Jack and Phyllis already at odds with business, Phyllis and Nikki proposed an idea for a spa to Victor, who, as a Christmas gift for Nikki, agreed to fund it. When Jack denied the venture to fall under Chancellor Industries, Nikki and Phyllis took it to Jill who gave it the green light under Jabot. This move infuriated Jack who threatened to sue Victor if he moved forward.
The Winters worried endlessly about Lily and her deep love for Daniel. Dru was specifically obsessed with keeping the two teens apart and, as a result, she neglected Devon. Devon sought out his birth mother only to find her doing crack in the park and realizing he better stay away from her for good. With Neil’s help, Devon’s mother Yolanda got the treatment she needed and soon moved in with the Winters. Meanwhile, Lily was sent to boarding school, but she and Daniel managed to secretly communicate through www.studypals.net, the school’s message boards.
With Brittany betrothed to Bobby, things heated up for J.T. and Mac. Mac made the ultimate decision to sleep with J.T. While known as a player in the past, he truly did love her, but circumstances tour them apart. Bobby was in big trouble with the mob. In order to save he and Brittany’s unborn child, they pretended to break up and that J.T. was the father. J.T. always willing to help Brittany, went along with the plan even lying to Mac. This broke her heart and left many unanswered questions. In a strange twist of irony, Mac ended up delivering Brittany’s baby when she went into labor at the loft and J.T. finally told her the truth, but it was too late to gain back Mac’s trust.
Meanwhile, in order to save his wife and baby (and to protect the likes of Nikki who was kidnapped by Vinny until Victor saved her with the help of Paul), Bobby left Genoa City to head into protective custody hoping that Brittany and their son Joshua would join him once Joshua, who was born two months early, could leave the hospital.
For safety reasons, Brittany moved into the Chancellor mansion. J.T. was also staying their and Mac eventually forgave him and their romance was back on. At first, Jill was annoyed everyone was staying in her home, including the newborn Joshua. She soon found herself very attached however. Once the news surfaced that Bobby had been killed and Brittany made a last ditch effort for J.T. by kissing him, but was denied, Brittany decided to leave Genoa City with Joshua.
With J.T. and Mac reunited completely and now sans Brittany, Kevin’s crush on Mac was definitely unrequited. However, the two decided to go into business together and bought Crimson Lights from Nick and Sharon.
Michael decided to roll the dice and proposed to Lauren after transforming the GCAC dining room into a Vegas type celebration complete with Elvis. Lauren said yes and wedding plans, with the help of Gloria, were under way.
Michael got increasingly curious about Lauren’s son Scotty and, much to the chagrin of Lauren, went to find him. Involving her son left Lauren nervous as it might have meant the re-surfacing of Sheila who kidnapped Scotty when he was a baby. Low and behold, Lauren’s worries were warranted and Sheila returned to town causing panic and intrigue throughout Genoa City.
Gloria was in a heap of trouble of her own. Her ex-husband, Terrible Tom, a.k.a. Kevin’s abusive father, returned to town, and, since they never officially divorced, he blackmailed Gloria so that John would not find out.
With their mutual hatred of Lauren and Michael respectively, Sheila and Tom decided to team up. First Ashley and Michael got the upper hand when scheming against Tom. Ashley pretended to be interested in Tom, but really the duo set him up landing him in jail. This move only added fuel to his fire.
Sheila was prancing around town disguised as both Jennifer and Brenda. Scott believed Brenda to be his innocent tutor who was helping him write a novel. When he showed her a necklace he wanted to present to his mother, she stole it and laced it with poison first. While Michael was at his bachelor party, Sheila cornered a delusional Lauren on her roof encouraging her to jump. Michael got to her in time and Lauren spent some time in the hospital, opting to postpone their wedding. The big day did occur however without a stitch! Things got rocky, however, on Lauren and Michael’s honeymoon cruise. While Michael was snorkeling, Tom and Sheila managed to get on board and kidnap Lauren, then blowing up the ship. Tom turned on Sheila and locked her and Lauren up in a bomb shelter. Seeing the explosion left Michael believing his new bride was dead.
Feeling the walls caving in on himself, Tom made a last ditch effort to have Gloria meet him in an alley. Furious, John overheard the conversation and left the house. Seeing this, Ashley panicked yelling for Gloria to call the police after she chased after him. When she arrived she found Tom shot and picked up the gun just as police arrived, leaving her accused of the crime. As Michael tried to get information from Tom as he lay in the hospital about Lauren, Tom flatlined.

Sharon started the year off with a bang by hitting Cameron with a champagne bottle and presuming him dead. Traumatized by the events she went to great lengths with the help of both Nikki and Larry to cover her tracks and hide his body. Low and behold it turned out he had faked his mortality and came back to haunt Sharon. He eventually admitted that he wasn’t going to ever leave her be and insisted he marry her and leave Genoa City forever. As they boarded a jet, Nick was able to sneak on and battled Cameron. All three jumped out of the plane with parachutes and the younger Newmans brought Cameron to justice and finally restored their marriage to solid ground.
For corporate espionage, Victor was court ordered to perform community service and he negotiated with the Judge. Victor proceeded to renovate and opened an inner city recreation center for young people. Victor ended up mentoring Devon, a young man who had a troubled upbringing. Victor asserted his power over Jack by offering to pay off Jabot’s debts on the condition they oust Jack as CEO. Jack was headed further into a downward spiral when he and Phyllis called it quits. A good man doesn’t stay down for long and Jack soon found himself living the playboy life. His free wheeling ways eventually landed him in an affair with Jill, much to the disgrace of Ashley.
J.T. pursued his rock star dreams and headed out to the West Coast, as Shiloh arranged a deal with a Los Angeles record company. When he realized the toll it was taking on his relationship with Colleen, he decided it’s not for him. In turn, Colleen decided that college life was calling and she broke off their romance opting to pursue education back in New York.
When J.T. found a mysterious ruby earring at the inner city recreation center, Nikki was forced to re-live the tragedy of her accidentally shooting a little boy at her 5th birthday party. Victor’s obsession with business left him unavailable to fill her emotional needs and Nikki sought comfort in an unlikely person, strip club owner and mobster, Bobby Marsino. He enlisted her help with the club and the two were soon running it together. When Sharon followed Nikki to work one night, the two exchanged words, but overall it made Sharon realize she longed for more than just staying at home now that the kids were older.
Raul was determined to get back at Brittany for her devotion to Bobby, going so far as pretending to have a girlfriend. When he realized his affections were a lost cause, he decided to go off to college.
Things continued to get serious between Brittany and Bobby and he proposed marriage. It was bad timing for J.T. who realized his true feelings for Brittany. She seemed to return the sentiments, but then went through with the wedding, having J.T. has her best man.
When Jill’s birth father Arthur returned to town, romance with he and Kay quickly heated up, but not without suspicion. Alcoholism hit Kay very hard again, but she battled her demons after a visit in a dream from Rex and Phillip and through the help and support of Arthur and Jill. Kay also embraced her mother/daughter relationship and let Jill keep a watchful eye on Chancellor Industries. Jill quickly realized CEO Elliot Hampton was up to no good, but his seductive ways blind-sided her. After a quick proposal, Jill broke off the engagement when she came to her senses when evidence of embezzlement surfaced along with his dishonest business practices. Elliot fled the country trying to avoid felony charges.
Arthur’s stepson, Harrison, came to town claiming Arthur had poisoned his mother, prompting Jill to suspect Arthur was only after Kay’s money. Arthur got wind of the accusations and left town reigniting the long standing bickering between Jill and Kay.
Phyllis’s world was rocked when her son Daniel returned to Genoa City, but wanted nothing to do with her. Meanwhile, Phyllis gave romance a “go” with Damon. His mysterious past rose to the surface as it turned out he once had a son who was murdered and the killer was up for parole. Unable to stay out of it, Phyllis confronted the murderer. When he followed her to Damon’s apartment a battle ensued resulting in Damon killing him.
After deciding to all work in the same office, Paul and Chris defended Damon and Michael defended Phyllis. This put both parties in a compromising position when Paul and Chris had to hide jail transcripts that would free Phyllis but incriminate Damon. Phyllis went to great lengths, including disguising herself as a man, and eventually she cleared their names.
Michael and Kevin’s worlds were rocked when their mother, Gloria, left Detroit and came to town and decided to live with them. Kevin was crushed when he found out his declared love of his life, Lauren, was actually heavily involved with his step-brother, Michael.
In an effort to repair Kevin’s reputation, Daniel and Kevin hired a punk kid to lace Lily’s drink with the roofies at the grand opening at the recreation. center. The plan worked seamlessly at first, but the punk kid tried to rape Lily in the elevator, sending Lily to the hospital. Kevin looked like the hero, but definitely was not guilt free. The punk kid later came back to taunt Daniel and Kevin but Phyllis and Damon scared him off for good.
As Kevin served jail time, he was so badly beaten that he was sent to the hospital where he pretended to be insane to avoid more jail time.
Gloria learned to set her sights on getting rich and romanced one of Genoa City’s most wealthy men: John Abbott. John fell right into her trap, but her feelings soon turned real. To the utter surprise of Ashley, Jack, Michael, and Kevin, John and Gloria return from a cruise holiday married as husband and wife.
Capping off Michael’s year, he refused to acknowledge the holidays. With some clever maneuvering on Chris’s part, Victor demanded Michael come to the ranch. After Michael watched Cassie and Noah hang stockings and wrap presents, Chris and Paul showed up with Kevin. Realizing Chris set everything up, Michael became emotional and caught up in the Christmas spirit.
Dru convinced Neil to take in Devon as their foster son, making her case to Lorena, the social worker. Rocking their world even more, Malcolm shocked everyone with his return, having been presumed dead in Africa for over two years. Olivia came to terms with his return. Neil struggled to mend their differences while Dru struggled to keep past secrets buried – the possibility that Malcolm could indeed be Lily’s paternal father.

Mac and Billy broke up, and Billy started dating Danielle on the rebound. As if things weren’t bad enough for Mac, she sensed someone was stalking her, and suspected her abusive stepfather, Ralph. Mac’s instincts were on the money: Ralph was in town, and he blackmailed Amanda into helping him steal some of Jill’s jewels. The plan backfired; Jill had Amanda arrested for theft, and Ralph discovered via an appraisal that Jill’s bracelet wasn’t as valuable as he thought. Ralph then forced Amanda (who got out on bail) to make it possible for him to steal a more valuable necklace belonging to Kay. On the night of the high school prom, Mac returned to the Chancellor estate and was surprised by Ralph. Fortunately, Billy arrived and struck Ralph down. Believing he killed Ralph, Billy and Mac fled. When Ralph came to, he kidnapped Kay and held her hostage in his motel room. Later, disguised as a police officer, Ralph was able to ascertain from Raul, Billy and Mac’s whereabouts (the hideaway by the lake). Meanwhile, Amanda and Larry found Kay captive at the motel room, and Kay warned them that Ralph was after Mac. Larry tracked Ralph (who had by now knocked Billy unconscious) to the lake, where he tussled with him. Ralph disappeared after hearing the police coming. Back in town, Amanda agreed to leave Genoa City lest she be prosecuted for theft. Some good came out of the ordeal, though: Billy and Mac reconnected, and Jill (who was no longer seeing Sean) formed a bond with Larry.
Phyllis suffered severe side effects from her fertility drugs, and had no choice but to discontinue the treatment. When Nikki learned of Phyllis’s diagnosis, she confirmed to Jack that he was the biological father of Diane’s son, Kyle. Diane and Phyllis soon learned the truth and, later, a custody battle ensued. Much to Jack’s disappointment, Diane retained full custody of Kyle. Diane moved into the Abbotts’ pool house so Jack could have access to Kyle. The arrangement, however, led to some nasty confrontations between Diane and Phyllis. At one point, Diane tried to fake an accident in the driveway in order to blame Phyllis. Unfortunately, Diane was really hurt when Phyllis accidentally ran over her leg; on the plus side for Diane, she was able to extend her stay at the Abbotts. One night, while Kyle was with Phyllis and Jack, a fire broke out in the poolhouse, and Diane barely escaped the inferno. After a police investigation, Phyllis was arrested for starting the blaze. Phyllis and Jack were convinced that Diane set Phyllis up, and set out to prove Phyllis’s innocence. (The plan called for Phyllis and Jack to pretend to break up so Jack could romance Diane and get her to confess.) Despite Jack’s best efforts, though, things looked pretty bleak till the proverbial eleventh hour, when Paul and Lynne arrived at Phyllis’s trial with new evidence that cleared Phyllis.
Victor decided he needed to go on a soul-searching journey before formally asking Nikki to be his wife once more. As a result, Victor made contact with his former wives and lovers including Julia, Ramona, Ashley and Hope. Unbeknownst to Victor, however, his ex-wife Lenna joined forces with Max Hollister, who was seeking revenge against Victor. Leanna arranged for Victor’s meetings to be taped, and the footage was aired on her television show. Max, who was wooing Nikki, was with her at the Lodge when the show was broadcast. Nikki decided there was no chance of a reunion with Victor. Later, when Victor returned to Genoa City, Nikki confronted him. Victor told Nikki he visited his exes looking for insight to make his next marriage last. Then Victor proposed to Nikki, who promised him an answer in two weeks (she needed time to herself in order to think things through). Fourteen days later, Nikki told Victor she would marry him. Meanwhile, Max, along with his estranged wife, Lorie Brooks (who had once been engaged to Victor), tried to break up Victor and Nikki, but nothing came of it. Lorie apologized to Victor, and wished him well before leaving town. Victor and Nikki had a lovely wedding ceremony and reception. (Leanna crashed the nuptials, but Nick and Victoria tossed her out undetected.) On their wedding night, Victor gave Nikki a beautiful photo album documenting their many years together.
Colleen formed a friendship with J.T. (she tutored him in English literature), which soon turned into love (on Colleen’s part, anyway). At first, J.T. didn’t take Colleen’s crush seriously, but he eventually realized that he had strong feelings for her. Due to their age difference and J.T.’s past behavior, Colleen’s elders forbade her to date J.T. This didn’t stop the young couple, who met on the sly. Traci decided she wanted Colleen to move back to New York, which prompted Colleen to flee. She met with J.T., and suggested they run away together (J.T. talked her out of it). Traci called the police, and J.T. was arrested for statutory rape. Traci told J.T. she would drop the charges if J.T. could convince Colleen to return to New York with Traci. Reluctantly, J.T. lied to Colleen, telling her he didn’t love her. Heartbroken, Colleen left for the airport with Traci. J.T. regretted his actions. He went to the airport, found Colleen, and told her the truth. The kids snuck out of the airport, and went to Brad and Ashley’s place. Traci tracked her daughter down, and insisted they go to New York. Eventually, Brad (Colleen’s dad) convinced Traci to let Colleen stay in Genoa City. Colleen was relieved, although as punishment she had to agree not to see J.T. for two weeks. During this time period Colleen turned 16, but was sad that J.T. couldn’t be with her on her birthday. J.T. surprised Colleen, though, by serenading her beneath her bedroom window.
Victoria was supposed to supervise a photo shoot in Kenya for Brash & Sassy, but due to illness Neil took her place. This did not sit well with Malcolm, the photographer, who had brought Alex with him. (Malcolm was starting to wonder what was up between Alex, his fiancee, and Neil.) Later, a recovered Victoria joined the others in Africa. Neil confronted Alex about her feelings for him, unaware Malcolm was within earshot. Malcolm overheard Alex tell Neil she did have strong feelings for him, but Malcolm walked away before he could hear Alex explain to Neil that she was committed to Malcolm. Malcolm fought with Neil, after which he went to a remote location for the photo shoot, ignoring warnings that it was unsafe to travel. The group later received a call from Isaac, Malcolm’s tour guide: Malcolm perished in a terrible accident. (His body wasn’t recovered.) Back in Genoa City, Nate eulogized Malcolm at a memorial service, calling his dad a hero. Alex moved away, and Neil, who had already been drinking heavily since Ryan’s death, hit the bottle even harder. It wasn’t long before he made a complete transformation from Neil the Yuppie to Neil the Skid Row bum. Neil started spending time with Serena, a sympathetic barmaid. Dru and Lily arrived in town, and learned from Olivia about Neil’s drinking. Dru got on Neil’s case, and he finally entered rehab. Meanwhile, Lily summoned Wes, Dru’s boyfriend, to Genoa City from Paris. Lily was desperate to return to Europe, but Dru realized it would help Neil’s recovery if he was able to spend time with his daughter. Deciding that she had no future with Neil, Serena visited him one last time to say good-bye. Wes proposed to Dru, and later accused Neil of still loving Dru.
Sharon continued to blame Nick for their baby’s death, and the couple separated. Sharon found a sympathetic ear in Diego (Raul’s brother), who advised Sharon to try to straighten things out with Nick. Sharon did try, but her and Nick’s attempts to reconcile failed. At one point, Sharon mistakenly believed Nick slept with Grace, a former flame. A miserable Sharon found comfort in Diego’s arms. Shortly thereafter, Nick and Sharon resolved their differences, and Diego told Sharon it would cause major fallout if she told Nick about her and Diego’s one-night stand. One day, after observing an interaction between Diego and Victoria at the coffeehouse, Nick suggested to Sharon that Victoria might have a crush on Diego. Sharon wasn’t pleased by this, and her confusion led her to finally tell Nick about her indiscretion with Diego. A furious Nick responded by punching out Diego and telling Victoria that her new boyfriend had an affair with Sharon. (Nick refused to believe that Sharon and Diego only slept together once.) Shortly thereafter, Grace came back to town, and Nick had sex with her (which he immediately regretted). Meanwhile, Victoria softened toward Diego once she heard his side of the story, and they reconciled. A reticent Sharon told Victor about Diego, and Victor gave Diego money to leave town. Diego decided he didn’t want the cash, and was on his way to return the dough when he was beaten unconscious by a couple of thugs who stole the money. Victoria (who briefly thought Diego abandoned her) found Diego in the hospital, and denounced Victor once she learned that he tried to pay Diego to end his relationship with her. Sharon and Nick did their best to make Christmas happy for Cassie and Noah, but once the holidays were over Sharon realized she had to get on with her life, and told Victor she was going to file for a divorce. Victor then ordered Nick to fix his marriage.
Raul and Brittany began dating. One night, after dining with Brittany’s snobby parents, Frederick and Anita, Brittany got drunk and cracked up her car, severely injuring Raul in the process. Raul was temporarily paralyzed, but just as he was starting to wriggle his toes again, he gave Brittany the boot. Never one to give up, Brittany convinced Raul that she truly loved him, and the young couple moved in together. Although they were on a tight budget (Brittany’s folks cut her off), they were very happy until their room at the boarding house was burglarized. Much to Raul and Brittany’s surprise, Frederick and Anita, along with Raul’s parents, Adela and Vincente, arrived on Christmas Eve with food and gifts. The two families shared a pleasant meal.
Isabella became pregnant with Paul’s child (whom she initially tried to pass off as Michael’s). Paul had mixed feelings when he learned about the baby, especially since it was around this time that Chris returned to Genoa City. Paul had a few encounters with Chris — they kissed a couple of times — but in the end Paul married Isabella shortly after she gave birth to their son, Ricky. Hoping that Chris and Paul would reunite, Mary was stunned when she learned about Paul and Isabella’s marriage. Meanwhile, Chris and Michael start to bond. Although Paul tried to be polite whenever he encountered Michael and Chris in public, we wasn’t happy when Michael escorted Chris to the Newman nuptials. Chris and Paul argued (privately) at the reception, and wound up in an emotional kiss. Shortly thereafter, Chris and Michael became intimate. Chris was dumbfounded to receive an invitation to Ricky’s baptism, but decided to attend. Meanwhile, Michael told Isabella that he and Chris were an item, and Isabella purposely hinted about Michael and Chris’s intimacy to Paul. This prompted Paul to ask Chris point blank if she was sleeping with Michael. Appalled, Chris told Paul to mind his own business. Michael proposed to Chris, and she accepted. She went to the baptism, but when Michael showed up, Paul tossed him out, but not before Michael announced his and Chris’s engagement. Paul later confronted Chris at their old condo — Why did she kiss him at Victor’s wedding? — and things began to heat up between the former couple. Paul initiated sex and what happened next was anyone’s guess — was it an act of rape, or consensual? Afterward, Chris left town, and refused to tell Michael or Paul where she went.
Ashley was diagnosed with breast cancer. She underwent chemotherapy, and feared that her cancer was driving a wedge between herself and Brad. Unsure of what the future held, Ashley recorded a video in which she revealed that Victor was Abby’s biological father. Ashley later instructed Olivia what to do with the tape should Ashley die. A lonely Brad visited Olivia, and they came close to having sex (they didn’t). Afterward, Olivia watched the tape. She then confronted Ashley, and threatened to tell Brad. Later, Ashley overheard Olivia tell Dru that she had fallen in love with Brad. Ashley told Olivia that she was on to her, and demanded that Olivia turn over the videotape. Ashley got the tape back, unaware that Dru made a copy. Ashley attempted to tell Brad the truth, but was interrupted by Colleen and J.T. (the night they fled the airport). Ashley promised Olivia (who was on her case) that she would tell Brad before the new year.

Billy realized that staying pals with Mac while dating Brittany was doing Mac more harm than good. Although Billy told Mac he would start tutoring at the shelter again, he abruptly changed his mind, much to Mac’s disappointment. One day in the coffee shop while Mac was on duty, Billy made a point of giving Brittany the opal ring in front of Mac. Mac was devastated; this was, after all, the ring Billy had once given her. Later, to fuel Billy’s jealousy, Mac pretended to be interested in J.T. (who was in on the ruse). Meanwhile, Billy began an e-mail correspondence with “CleanQueen,” unaware he was venting about his girl troubles to Mac. J.T. found a Glow By Jabot videotape from the previous summer and learned that Brittany lied about having sex with Billy. At Mac’s request, Raul watched the tape and revealed the shocking news. Mac was all set to tell Billy the truth, but Brittany, who got wind of the situation, destroyed the tape. Brittany also discovered CleanQueen’s identity and blabbed to Billy. Billy blasted Mac for not coming clean with him, as it were. Mac and Brittany got into a confrontation, and Mac told Brittany she was going to show Billy the pool house tape. Brittany boasted that the tape was toast, but Mac called her bluff by claiming she had a copy. The trick worked and Brittany ran to Billy to confess that they never had sex in the pool house. Billy felt betrayed by her lie and promptly ended their relationship. Billy and Mac later reconciled, and Brittany sought revenge by digging up dirt from Mac’s past and posting information about Mac (who agreed to be on camera for the second season of Glow by Jabot) on the show’s Web site. This led to Amanda, Mac’s estranged mother, to learn of Mac’s whereabouts. Amanda showed up at the Chancellor Estate, and she and Mac had an awkward reunion.
Raul had a persistent cold that would not go away. He complained of being thirsty all the time, his eyes bothered him, and was consuming a lot of sweets. Billy and Rianna consulted a medical Web site and deduced that Raul was diabetic. Meanwhile, at the pool house, Raul hyperventilated and passed out. He was rushed to the hospital and slipped into a coma. Raul’s friends and family kept vigil, and the young man recovered. Olivia informed Raul that he had Type-one diabetes, and would have to make some lifestyle changes. It wasn’t long before Raul took his condition in stride, and ignored onlookers at the coffeehouse as he gave himself an insulin shot. But when Raul saw Rianna and J.T. together at the Glow by Jabot boutique (he had recently learned that Rianna and J.T. had once been intimate), Raul accidentally overdosed himself and fell into insulin shock. Raul was hospitalized, but he made a full recovery.
Diane gave birth to a boy whom she named Christian Victor Newman. Victor insisted on a paternity test, which proved that he was not the infant’s father. Victor told Diane to leave town lest he brought legal action against her. Diane was convinced that Nikki switched the sperm samples and confronted her about the truth. Diane and her baby moved to Italy, and Nikki (with Victoria’s encouragement) confessed to Victor that she had indeed switched the samples. Victor berated Nikki, noting that her actions resulted in the creation of an unwanted child. A guilt-ridden Nikki did some investigating and discovered that Jack was the biological father. Nikki secretly traveled to Italy to apologize to Diane for her role in the sperm switch.
An unsuspecting Sharon invited beloved employee Carter (aka Matt) to her house for dinner. Carter slipped a Mickey into Sharon’s margarita, and she passed out. Carter was just about to rape her but was scared off when Nick came home. When club kid Jordan was hospitalized from the tainted ecstasy he purchased from Matt, Matt snuck into the hospital and disconnected Jordan’s ventilator, killing him, lest Jordan fingered Matt. Thanks to all the evidence Matt and Warton planted, Nick was arrested and thrown in jail. While Nick stewed in jail — Warton was locked up, too, having been double crossed by Matt — Matt lured Sharon to an isolated cabin. Warton revealed Matt’s true identity, and the cavalry — Victor — arrived at the cabin before Matt could rape Sharon. Matt escaped and jumped into Tricia’s car (suspecting that Carter was up to no good, Tricia, who was Carter’s paramour, had followed him to the cabin), but Tricia crashed the car, sending both of them to the hospital. Tricia signed a deposition stating that Matt was responsible for Jordan’s death, and Nick was freed. As he lay dying, Matt demanded to see Nick. Once they were alone, Matt suggested to Nick that Matt had raped Sharon the night of the dinner party. Then Matt yanked out his ventilator tube, placing it in Nick’s hand. Matt croaked, and Nick’s goose was cooked (a police officer walked in and assumed Nick sent Matt to his final resting place). Nick was tossed back into jail, but Warton (with help from an unwitting Cassie) convinced the authorities that Matt was demented enough to frame Nick for murder by committing suicide. Nick was released (as was Warton — who decided to go straight — at a later time).
The Newmans’ troubles were far from over. Tricia (who agreed to divorce Ryan) convinced everyone that she was sane as long as she took her medication. When her father, Keith, was hospitalized with a stroke and became comatose, Tricia reacted quickly. Knowing that the Newmans would want her back in the mental hospital now that Keith was incapacitated and couldn’t watch over her (Tricia’s sister, Megan, was also unavailable), Tricia gave Victor an unusual proposition: She would move into the penthouse with him, where he could keep an eye on her himself. Victor accepted (and promptly reactivated the video surveillance system that was last used on Diane), much to his family’s shock. Tricia conferred with Matt’s ghost (a figment of her imagination) on a daily basis, and plotted against Victor and Victoria (who was set to remarry Ryan). When Victor spurned Tricia’s advances, she drugged his tea, had sex with him, and then claimed rape. Naturally, Victor didn’t remember a thing, but DNA proved he had sex with Tricia. Fortunately, Victor did remember drinking the tea, and urged the district attorney to test the DNA sample for drugs. Meanwhile, Tricia told everyone she was leaving town and then checked into a nearby hotel. Victoria and Ryan’s wedding day arrived, and Tricia slipped into the church unnoticed. She knocked Victoria unconscious with a candlestick and disguised herself as the bride. At the altar, Ryan was horrified when Tricia lifted her veil and revealed herself to the stunned guests. Tricia pulled out a gun and fired at Victoria (who entered the chapel after coming to), but Ryan jumped up and took the bullet instead. Ryan underwent surgery, but he died shortly afterwards. Tricia (who admitted that Victor didn’t rape her) was committed to a psychiatric hospital where doctors watched her strange behavior as she bid farewell to Matt.
Sharon discovered she was pregnant. Remembering Matt’s cruel implication that the child may have been conceived during an act of rape (which was a complete falsehood), Nick felt that he and Sharon should give the baby up for adoption after it’s birth. Sharon was appalled; even if the child wasn’t Nick’s she was still it’s mother. The couple argued, Sharon fell, and she delivered a premature girl who didn’t survive. A post-mortem paternity test concluded that the child was indeed Nick’s. A heartbroken Sharon kept the news to herself, but she eventually told Nick. By then, however, the couple’s marriage was headed toward a downward spiral.
Ashley gave Brad her consent to adopt Abby. But the cozy little threesome was interrupted when Traci came to town with her and Brad’s teen-age daughter, Colleen. Traci admitted that she and her husband, Steve, were having marital problems. Everyone decided it was in Colleen’s best interests to stay in Genoa City while Traci returned to New York to salvage her marriage. Ashley found herself uncomfortable with Brad and Colleen’s budding relationship. Later, when Traci announced that she and Steve had reconciled, Colleen (who by now was part of the Glow By Jabot crowd) didn’t want to leave town. She ran away and wound up at the shelter, where Amanda (who was living there at the time) convinced Colleen to return to her family. Colleen went back to New York, but started acting out by smoking pot with her friends. John persuaded Traci to let Colleen live with him, and wasn’t long before Colleen was once again in Genoa City.
Paul was all set to visit Christine in Hong Kong when his trip was waylaid by a beautiful damsel in distress named Isabella. Unbeknownst to Paul, however, Isabella had been hired by Michael to permanently break up the Williamses’ marriage (Michael desired Chris for himself). Claiming that she was in mortal danger of her imprisoned (yet still influential) husband, Paul went so far as to inviting Isabella to stay under his roof. Meanwhile, Chris (who was by now living in Australia) made a return trip home and caught Paul and Isabella in flagrante. Chris filed for divorce and although Paul was saddened, he professed his love for Isabella. Paul became confused, though, when Chris suggested she wanted to reconcile. This led to an argument between Paul and Isabella, the latter of whom was later in a car accident. Paul visited Isabella at the hospital, and she informed him that she was leaving town. After Paul left, Dr. Walker told Isabella that she was pregnant. Isabella sought comfort in Michael’s arms, and they made love. Paul and Chris never did reconcile, and Chris left town. Isabella announced that she was pregnant — with Michael’s child.
Disapproving of Malcolm’s lifestyle, Olivia reduced his visitation rights with Nate. Malcolm confronted Olivia about the situation, and was stunned when she cut Malcolm off from Nate completely. Neil, Mamie and Ashley tried to make Olivia reconsider, but to no avail. A sympathetic Mamie arranged for Nate and Malcolm to “accidentally” bump into each other on several occasions, but Olivia went ballistic when she found out what was going on. Olivia and Malcolm went to court where the judge (after hearing Nate’s heartfelt testimony) awarded Malcolm reasonable visitation rights. Meanwhile, Malcolm and Alex became engaged. Alex discovered that Neil had very strong feelings for her and decided she could no longer continue a professional relationship with him. Instead of accepting Neil’s lucrative job offer at Newman Enterprises, Alex joined Michael and Chris’ law firm. This didn’t sit well with Malcolm, and their relationship began to suffer. Meanwhile, Neil reconnected with Olivia and they made love. After Ryan’s death, however, Neil sank into a deep depression and started to drink heavily. In a vulnerable moment, Neil told Malcolm that he had feelings for Alex. Malcolm was upset, but reasoned that Neil’s feelings were unreciprocated. The truth of the matter was that Alex was in denial about her attraction to Neil.
Phyllis went after Jack like gangbusters, but got cold field when he started talking marriage and children. Phyllis new how much Jack wanted to raise a child (he hadn’t met his son Keemo until the latter was already an adult), but parenthood was a touchy subject for Phyllis, as it reminded her that she had been deemed unfit to rear her own child, Danny, by a court of law. Phyllis finally accepted Jack’s proposal, and they made plans to throw an engagement party. But during the preparations Phyllis began to experience sharp abdominal pains and was eventually hospitalized. Phyllis underwent surgery for a tubular pregnancy; she recovered but was told she couldn’t bear children. Phyllis wanted to call off the engagement, but Jack refused, insisting that he loved regardless of her inability to have kids. At the engagement party, Phyllis was all set to officially end their relationship, but a moving speech by Jack in front of the guests overwhelmed her. Once again Phyllis accepted Jack’s proposal, and they wed in a lovely ceremony Dec. 26.
Nina and Phillip moved to Los Angeles when she was tapped to write a screenplay. Unfortunately, her relationship with Tomas did not survive the transition…Jill started dating Jabot web master Sean, but was a little troubled by their difference in ages. Although Sean insisted that he was sincere in his emotions, it proved necessary for him to woo Jill back more than once.

No verified B&B-originating character crossover falls within this season’s dates.
Lauren Fenmore’s June and November 2000 Y&R visits are relevant to the shared continuity because she had been a regular B&B character. Megan’s wedding day ended in tragedy when Tricia hit Tony on his motorcycle while backing out of the driveway. A makeshift ceremony took place at the hospital but Tony died in Megan’s arms shortly after the vows were exchanged. Ryan suggested that Tricia go to therapy for her trauma and intimacy issues. Meanwhile, Sharon suspected that Tricia killed Tony and urged the police to reopen the case. When Tricia finally confessed that she was part of a conspiracy with Grace, Megan left Genoa City and moved to Boston. Tricia’s mental state started to spiral downward and Ryan decided to separate. He denied Tricia’s sexual advances and turned to Victoria for support. Feeling rejected, Tricia joined forces with Matt and vowed revenge on Victoria.
The police arrested Warton while the real stalker [Gary] continued to write “greatest fan” letters to Victoria. With Warton and Ross out of the way, Gary and Victoria grew closer. By the time she realized he was the stalker, however, it was too late; he kidnapped her and took her to Nick’s old tree house where he held her captive. Paul managed to save her in time and Gary was brought to justice. Although she was not physically harmed, Victoria remained emotionally disturbed by the ordeal. She visited Gary at the correctional facility where she, in turn, attacked him!

Ramona arrived to profess her love to Victor but she returned to Mexico after learning that he was sharing the penthouse with Diane. After returning from her Italian vacation with Brad, Nikki was still confused about her feelings for Victor. She confronted Diane and the two women entered a fierce competition over Victor and his sperm sample. Later, Diane consulted a fertility specialist and was successfully impregnated with “Victor’s” sperm. When Victor learned of Diane’s pregnancy, he was livid and moved out of the penthouse. Diane traveled to Kansas where Hope assured her that Victor would be committed to his child. Meanwhile, Brad tried to resign from Newman Enterprises and he and Nikki entertained the idea of working for Jabot. Victor had secretly purchased Jabot’s remaining loan, however, and refused to grant Jack an extension when the time expired for the payment. When Brad paid off half the loan, Victor threatened legal action to enforce his non-compete clause. Victor tried to end his career but Ashley used her influence on Victor to convince him not to go after Brad.
After Jack was tested for testicular cancer [negative], he made a sperm deposit. When he discovered that Ashley was pregnant, Jack flew to Paris to confront Christian. Meanwhile, Ashley informed Victor that she was pregnant. Brad volunteered to be Ashley’s Lamaze partner and their relationship grew deeper. She accepted his marriage proposal despite her lingering feelings for Victor. Moments before the wedding, Ashley went into labor at home and Victor drove her to the hospital. Billy distanced himself from his friends and began hanging out with J.T. He used Mac’s birthday party as an excuse to go to J.T.’s house where he drank until he passed out in the snow. Raul used CPR to resuscitate Billy and he was rushed to the hospital where he went into full cardiac arrest. Friends and family gathered to show their support and he eventually made a full recovery. Billy and Mac shared their first kiss but agreed to keep their feelings a secret. Billy continued his relationship with Brittany and Mac remained close to Raul. When Billy and Mac were crowed prom king and queen, things became increasingly complicated. Although Brittany was hired as Jabot’s new Glow Girl, Billy and Mac were featured in the advertisement because of their prom “royalty” status. Both Brittany and Jill were upset with the situation. Jill tried to dig up dirt from Mac’s past and was frustrated when her birth certificate confirmed that Brock was her biological father. Unable to continue the lie, Mac finally broke up with Raul who punched Billy in the face after discovering the truth. Meanwhile, Brittany discovered that Billy and Mac were dating and plotted her revenge. She devastated Mac by telling her that she had been sleeping with Billy all summer. Billy tried to tell Mac the truth but she refused to listen to him. She returned the opal ring and Billy struggled to keep his emotions under control. Billy returned to his relationship with Brittany and the couple nearly had intercourse before being interrupted by Jack. The Glow by Jabot house was reinstated for a New Year’s Eve party. Although she still had feelings for Billy, Mac was unable to confront him in person. When Jack offered her a job running the New Year’s Eve webcast, however, she accepted to spite Jill.
Tomas and Nina grew closer together and eventually consummated their love. She began to publicly refer to him as her boyfriend and was delighted when he shaved off his mustache. Tomas encouraged Nina with her writing and offered to edit her material. As Nina’s writing improved, Tomas developed a “writer’s block” and turned to the bottle for relief. Hugh recommended Nina’s novel and it was chosen for publication. Furthermore, a big time movie producer showed interest in her story. Later, Tomas surprised Nina in Taos with a wedding proposal and she eventually accepted.

Malcolm was devastated by Callie’s dishonesty and the wedding was called off.
Olivia, Malcolm and Neil were shocked when Drucilla returned to Genoa. When Lily contracted chickenpox, Neil invited Dru and her daughter to stay at his house. Dru and Neil rekindled their passion but she ran back to Paris after a disagreement. Malcolm traveled to France, however, and convinced her to return to Genoa City. Meanwhile, Olivia’s health declined and Dru volunteered to donate her bone marrow. Olivia began chemotherapy and Dru ultimately gave Neil her permission to pursue her sister. Dru reconnected with Malcolm and a kiss lead to a night of lovemaking. He helped her put together a new portfolio and, in turn, Sid offered her a new contract. She traveled to Paris after a miscommunication with Malcolm; he went after her but she refused to return. Olivia questioned Malcolm’s commitment to Nate and threatened to reduce his visitation rights.
Michael persuaded Chris to become a partner in his firm and she accepted, despite Paul’s disappointment. Mary pressed Paul to have a baby with Christine and he consulted a fertility clinic. Paul was delighted when her pregnancy test came up positive but a doctor later confirmed that the test was in error. 3. Main plots
Victor’s disappearance and the battle for Newman Enterprises
Victor’s plane crash leaves him stranded in New Mexico, where Chet Delancy and Ramona Caceres become central to his survival. Chet grows increasingly dangerous, while Victor and Ramona develop a strong emotional bond. Their escape follows Chet’s fatal fall.
Back in Genoa City, Victor’s absence gives Jack and Brad an opportunity to strengthen their position at Newman Enterprises. Victor’s eventual return renews the corporate conflict and the struggle over Jabot. soapcentral.com

Ramona subsequently becomes involved in Victor’s business affairs, keeping their connection alive beyond the New Mexico storyline. soapcentral.com
Sharon and Nick fight for Cassie
Alice Johnson’s attempt to regain Cassie dominates one of the season’s major family stories. Christine represents Nick and Sharon, while Alice’s past parenting and Millie’s role in raising Cassie come under scrutiny.
On July 19, 1999, Cassie addresses the court herself. The judge awards Nick and Sharon custody initially as foster parents, with continued supervision, and recommends that they proceed with adoption. Their victory becomes a major Newman family celebration. soapcentral.com

Billy returns as a teenager, becoming part of a new generation alongside Mackenzie, Raul, J. T., Brittany and Rianna. Billy and Mac develop feelings for each other, but Mac’s relationship with Raul complicates matters.

Tricia’s deterioration and Tony’s death
Tricia’s marriage to Ryan becomes increasingly troubled. Her pregnancy and miscarriage contribute to her emotional distress, while her opposition to Megan’s relationship with Tony becomes an obsession.
The conflict culminates when Tricia runs Tony down with her car. Megan marries him in hospital shortly before he dies, leaving her devastated and estranged from her sister. en.wikipedia.org
Ashley, Cole and the beginnings of the sperm-bank storyline
Ashley and Cole’s marriage breaks down, and Cole leaves Genoa City. Ashley’s desire for motherhood becomes increasingly important.
By March 2000, Victor’s stored sperm is part of a developing storyline involving Diane and Ashley. Its consequences continue into the following season. soapcentral.com
Victoria and Gary Dawson
Gary enters Victoria’s professional and personal life as a seemingly shy marketing specialist. His introduction lays the groundwork for the stalking storyline, whose most dramatic developments extend beyond this season’s March 2000 boundary. en.wikipedia.org
Malcolm, Olivia and Callie
Malcolm’s separation from Olivia affects his relationship with Nate. His renewed romance with Callie offers a possible fresh start, but her unresolved marriage to Trey creates further problems.

Victor won his divorce from Diane by agreeing to award her a seat on the board of Newman Enterprises. To celebrate his freedom, Victor surprised Nikki with a romantic getaway to a tropical isle. During his absence, Jack and Brad moved to seize control of the company. Nick sent a message to Victor suggesting he return home immediately. Thanks to Jack and Brad’s trickery, the Newman jet was unavailable. Victor arranged a commercial flight for Nikki, while he boarded a small plane. But before the plane could reach the nearest airport, it crashed in the New Mexico Mountains. The pilot died and Victor was found unconscious by a stranger named Chet. He helped Victor recover from his wounds. But when Chet learned his patient’s identity, he held him hostage. Chet explained that he was angry at Victor for the devastation he wrought by taking over his dad’s small company. Back in Genoa City, Jack and Brad won enough board votes to be named the new CEOs of Newman Enterprises. Meanwhile, Chet’s girlfriend, Ramona tried to help Victor win his freedom. When Chet discovered Ramona’s betrayal, he held them both hostage. Eventually, Victor and Ramona were able to free themselves. But before they could completely escape from the remote mountain, Chet found them. In a fight, Chet fell to his death. Victor returned to Genoa City and struggled to reclaim his company. When Nikki learned about Ramona, she wondered if Victor’s absence was because of an affair. Jack agreed to step down as CEO, provided Victor return Jabot to the Abbotts. Once Victor had his company back, Nikki announced she wanted another baby. Victor thought Nikki was merely feeling insecure about their marriage and refused. Besides, Victor pointed out, he had a vasectomy. But Nikki countered it could be reversed. Unknown to Victor, Diane –with Brad’s help –obtained a sample of Victor’s little swimmers from a sperm bank. Fed up with the role other women played in Victor’s life, Nikki slept with Brad while on a Christmas getaway.

Distraught, Alice severed ties with Al. Later, Al contacted Nick, claiming to have info about Millie’s whereabouts and tried to extort money. But when Al accepted the money, he was arrested. Soon after, Michael learned from Grace about her one-night stand with Nick. Later, when Nick was on the stand, Michael questioned him about the indiscretion. Nick’s passionate plea on Sharon’s behalf, helped them to reconcile. During the trial’s final stages, Chris and Paul succeeded in finding Millie, who recommended that Sharon be granted custody. But before the judge made his decision, Alice did an about-face and said that Cassie would be better off with her natural mother. With the trial over, Sharon helped Millie and Alice heal the rift in their relationship.
Nick and Sharon were disheartened to learn that Crimson Lights would be closing. The coffeehouse held special meaning for the couple because it was where they first met, and the setting for Nick’s wedding proposal. Chris and Paul hoped to start a family, but Chris was unable to get pregnant.
