Dates below refer to the original U.S. broadcasts on CBS, unless otherwise indicated. This distinction matters because Canadian broadcasts, advance recaps and episodes delayed by news coverage sometimes carry different dates.
Verification note: CBS’s official press archive confirms the season’s opening date. I could corroborate the closing date through episode catalogues, but could not retrieve a surviving CBS or official YouTube page explicitly identifying the finale. Likewise, the cast below is an extensive reconstruction of identifiable roles, including children and minor characters; I cannot certify it as an exhaustive transcription of every episode’s closing credits.
1. Season dates
| Date | Episode | |
|---|---|---|
| Season premiere | September 3, 2019 | #11,764 |
| Season finale | September 18, 2020 | #11,950 |
| Original episodes | 187 | Excluding classic-episode rebroadcasts |
CBS’s August 27, 2019 announcement explicitly states that the show enters its 47th season on Tuesday, September 3. Some databases incorrectly include September 2 in Season 47; CBS’s announcement establishes the correct opening boundary. paramountpressexpress.com
The September 18, 2020 episode is listed as Season 47, Episode 187 in the streaming catalogue and as the finale in episode guides. This end date is corroborated, but does not meet your requested CBS/official YouTube sourcing standard. primevideo.com
The season was interrupted by the COVID production shutdown. Original episodes ran out in April 2020; CBS officially announced their return for August 10, 2020. Historical episodes broadcast during the interruption belong to their original seasons and are excluded here. soapoperanetwork.com

Unresolved performer credits: baby Joy, Traci’s masseur Shea, and the Christmas Santa figure appear in the available story records, but I could not establish reliable performer names. I have therefore not invented credits for them. Sam Ashby also appears in period cast-maintenance lists, but I could not verify a new Season 47 appearance by the Loo twins. Fandom
3. Principal storylines
| Storyline | Main developments |
|---|---|
| Adam targets Victor; Victor stages his death | Adam arranges for Victor’s experimental medication to be altered. Victor and his allies use a staged death to expose him, creating further divisions within the Newman family. |
| Billy’s psychological crisis | Billy’s unresolved grief over Delia and hatred of Adam fuel dangerous behaviour and memory gaps. Chloe and Kevin intervene. His later friendship with Amanda deepens the breakdown of his relationship with Victoria. |
| The Grand Phoenix | Abby and Chelsea open the hotel, but Zoe drugs drinks at the launch. Later, Simon Black’s demands on Chelsea lead to a hostage crisis. Phyllis manoeuvres to obtain control of the hotel. |
| Devon’s inheritance is stolen | Amanda arrives with a challenge to Katherine Chancellor’s will. Devon relinquishes his inheritance after documents appear to name Cane as the beneficiary. Colin’s fraud is subsequently exposed. |
| Theo’s Abbott connection | Jack and Traci’s family research reveals that Dina and Stuart Brooks had a son, Eric Vanderway—making Theo Dina’s grandson. Theo’s rivalry with Kyle intensifies at Jabot. |
These autumn stories are reflected in CBS’s season-launch description, episode summaries and the supporting characters’ documented roles. paramountpressexpress.com
| Storyline | Main developments |
|---|---|
| Sharon’s breast cancer | Sharon discovers a lump, undergoes investigations and receives a breast-cancer diagnosis. Treatment affects her and her family throughout the season. Cassie appears to her in a vision. |
| Kyle, Lola, Summer and Theo | Kyle’s marriage to Lola collapses as he reconnects with Summer. Lola develops a relationship with Theo, further complicating the cousins’ rivalry. |

| The Newman anniversary gala and Victoria’s stabbing | Newman Enterprises’ 50th anniversary brings Julia, Matt and Noah back to Genoa City. Ripley attacks Victoria after mistaking her for Amanda. |
| Adam’s childhood trauma | Alyssa’s investigation into her father A.J.’s death leads Adam to believe Victor killed him. The truth is that Adam caused A.J.’s death as a child, with Victor concealing what happened. Sharon helps Adam confront his memories. |
| Chancellor Communications | Jill brings Billy and Lily together to run the media venture. Billy’s determination to expose Adam becomes a central source of conflict. |
| Amanda and Hilary’s connection | Amanda’s resemblance to Hilary becomes an identity investigation. DNA results confirm that they were twins in September 2020, unsettling Devon and Elena. |
Contemporary recaps, CBS’s August relaunch announcement and Mishael Morgan’s interview support these developments. The Amanda–Hilary confirmation aired on September 15, 2020. SoapHub
4. Births
| Child | Parents | Date and circumstances |
|---|---|---|
| Mateo Rosales | Arturo Rosales and Mia Rosales | Early October 2019, off-screen in Miami. Reported birth weight: 7 lb 10 oz. I could not establish a sufficiently reliable exact U.S. announcement date. |
Mateo is mentioned rather than introduced as an on-screen infant. Fandom
Two distinctions are necessary:
- Joy is already born when Nikki and Victor discover her at the ranch in the Christmas episode broadcast December 30, 2019. This is her introduction, not a depicted birth. Celebrating The Soaps
- Miles Fisher, Chloe and Kevin’s son, is born October 5, 2020, after Season 47. Chloe’s pregnancy belongs to this season; Miles’s birth does not. Fandom
5. Recasts and SORAS
| Character | Casting change | Date | Classification |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chance Chancellor | Donny Boaz succeeds John Driscoll. | November 8, 2019 | Adult-to-adult recast accompanying the character’s return. Not SORAS. |
| Hope Wilson | Maggie Gwin plays a younger Hope in newly filmed historical scenes; Signy Coleman was the character’s principal previous performer. | August 2020; appearance documented on August 26. | Flashback casting. Not SORAS. |
| Adam Newman | Dane West plays Adam as a child alongside Mark Grossman’s adult portrayal. | August 2020 | Additional childhood portrayal, not replacement of the adult actor. Not SORAS. |
Boaz’s debut is confirmed by contemporary casting coverage; the younger Hope and Adam portrayals are documented separately. Soap Opera Digest
I found no child-to-adult SORAS introduced within Season 47. Several changes easily associated with this period actually occurred earlier:
- Connor Newman → Judah Mackey: August 8, 2019, before the season.
- Bella Fisher → Martie Marie Blair: August 2019, before the season.
- Theo Vanderway → Tyler Johnson: June 3, 2019, before the season.
These are also not child-to-adult replacements. Fame10

| George | August 2020 | Kansas farm caretaker. |
The exact dates above are supported by contemporary casting reports and recaps. Tanner’s January 2 date found in some histories corresponds to the Canadian broadcast. Ripley was originally announced for February 5, but preemptions affected scheduling; I have retained the month rather than present the announced date as conclusively verified. Daytime Royalty
Zoe, Theo, Adrian, Indio and Tallulah are not new Season 47 characters: their introductions occurred before September 3, 2019. Michael Fairman TV

| Ripley Turner | March 2, 2020, last appearance recorded in contemporary casting notes | Appears in Amanda’s nightmare; his capture concludes the immediate threat. |
| Reed Hellstrom | March 3, 2020 | Brief visit ends. |
| Tanner Watts | March 2020 | His guest storyline concludes. |

These dates distinguish an actor’s last appearance from a character explicitly leaving town. Brief visitors and supporting characters do not always receive an on-screen farewell. TVmaze

| Noah Newman — Robert Adamson | September 4, 2020 | Returns again during Sharon’s illness. |
| Hope Wilson — Maggie Gwin | August 2020 | Returns through newly filmed flashbacks, with a different performer. |
These include short visits and appearances by deceased characters; Cassie, John and Hope are not resurrected. Daytime Royalty
Mishael Morgan’s return should be classified separately: the actress returns, but Amanda is a new character, rather than Hilary returning to life. Talent
9. Weddings
No new completed wedding between principal characters was identified within the September 3, 2019–September 18, 2020 season.
The weddings most easily confused with this period fall outside its boundaries:
| Couple | Wedding date | Placement |
|---|---|---|
| Kyle Abbott and Lola Rosales | August 16, 2019 | Before Season 47. |
| Abby Newman and Chance Chancellor | December 1, 2020 | Season 48. |
| Sharon Newman and Rey Rosales | December 31, 2020 | Season 48; wedding episodes begin December 30. |
The marriage history and CBS’s December milestone announcement establish the distinction between the 2019 Kyle–Lola marriage and the two late-2020 weddings. Fandom
10. Deaths
| Character | Date or period | Explanation |
|---|---|---|
| Jared’s grandfather | March 2020 | Dies off-screen in hospital, leaving Jared without his principal support. His death was covered in contemporary reporting published March 13. |
| A.J. Montalvo | Historical death revealed/explored during 2020 | Adam caused his death as a child. Season 47 depicts and investigates an earlier event; A.J. does not die in the present-day timeline. |
Jared’s grandfather’s death and the historical circumstances of A.J.’s death are separately documented. Daily Soap Dish
Victor’s apparent death is staged. It should not be counted as a genuine death. Dina’s death occurs October 16, 2020, during Season 48. Season 47
11. Y&R / B&B Crossovers
Y&R characters appearing in B&B
No newly produced crossover appearance was identified during the Season 47 date range.
However, B&B rebroadcast historical crossover episodes during June 15–19, 2020, under its “Bold Gets Restless” theme. Those episodes featured Y&R-associated characters including Lauren, Scott, Victor, Katherine, Jack and Ashley. They are 2020 rebroadcasts of earlier crossovers, not new Season 47 events. thetvwatercooler.com
B&B characters appearing in Y&R
No newly produced crossover appearance was identified during Season 47.
Sally Spectra’s move from B&B to Y&R occurs in November 2020, after this season. The subsequent crossover story involving Summer, Bill, Wyatt and Flo belongs to January 2021. Contemporary coverage describes those appearances as the shows’ first crossover activity since Eric Forrester’s 2017 visit. tvinsider.com
