All dates below refer to original U.S. broadcasts on CBS, unless otherwise stated. The season numbering follows CBS and the soap’s official YouTube channel; several third-party databases incorrectly label this period Season 34.
1. Season dates
| Date | Episode | |
|---|---|---|
| Season premiere | September 16, 2019 | #8178 |
| Season finale | September 18, 2020 | #8360 |
CBS’s official announcement confirms the September 16 premiere. The official YouTube archive explicitly identifies #8360, broadcast September 18, 2020, as S33 E184, followed by the Season 34 premiere on September 21. paramountpressexpress.com
Episode-count clarification: the numbered dramatic episodes run from #8178 to #8360—183 episodes. The season also includes the newly produced July 20, 2020 catch-up episode, explaining the YouTube finale’s E184 designation. CBS resumed broadcasts with that catch-up programme after the COVID interruption. Classic episodes rebroadcast during the shutdown are excluded from the cast and storyline inventory below. 2. Characters and actors
The following roster covers the principal characters, children and identifiable supporting roles documented for this period. It is not a certified transcription of every closing credit: some very brief model, hospital and background appearances remain difficult to establish exhaustively.

Kelly credit qualification: histories identify Pennington, Teperman and Sweeney among the performers preceding the Gray twins. Contemporary reporting confirms the Gray twins’ takeover in early 2020, but I could not independently assign an exact Season 33 appearance date to each outgoing performer. Their names should therefore be checked against individual closing credits before publication as a definitive episode-level roster. Les personnages| Soap-Passion

3. Principal storylines
Katie’s kidney failure and Flo’s attempted redemption
Katie develops life-threatening kidney failure. Flo secretly undergoes compatibility testing and donates a kidney, saving her aunt’s life. Her generosity reopens the question of forgiveness after her involvement in Beth’s fraudulent adoption. The transplant takes place in October 2019. The Bold and the Beautiful
Thomas’s obsession with Hope and the struggle over Douglas
Thomas continues manipulating Hope and using Douglas’s attachment to her. Hope pursues legal parental rights, while Brooke and Ridge clash over Thomas’s behaviour. In November, Hope believes she has killed Thomas after he falls into a vat thought to contain acid; he survives and exploits her fear and guilt. The Bold and the Beautiful
Thomas later romances Zoe to persuade everyone that he has moved on. His intended wedding becomes another attempt to pressure Hope through Douglas. Hope, Liam and Steffy expose him during the March 2020 wedding episodes. The Bold and the Beautiful
Hope and Liam reunite
Thomas engineers circumstances surrounding Liam and Steffy’s kiss, which drives Hope away from Liam. Once Steffy reveals the manipulation, Hope and Liam reconcile. Douglas then arranges their informal “T-shirt wedding” at the cabin. The Bold and the Beautiful
Brooke, Ridge, Shauna and Quinn
Brooke and Ridge’s disagreements over their children leave their marriage vulnerable. Shauna grows closer to Ridge, with Quinn increasingly determined to remove Brooke from his life.
Shauna records Brooke kissing Bill; Quinn uses the recording to sabotage Brooke and Ridge’s reconciliation celebration. Ridge subsequently travels to Las Vegas with Shauna. In August, Shauna reveals that they married during his drunken visit. The deception behind that marriage continues beyond the season. paramountpressexpress.com
Sally’s fabricated terminal illness
After losing Wyatt to Flo, Sally and Dr. Penny Escobar fabricate a terminal diagnosis. Wyatt’s sympathy brings Sally back into his home. When Flo uncovers the deception, Penny knocks her unconscious, and the women hold her captive. Wyatt discovers the truth, and Sally’s storyline concludes with her departure in August. WikiZero
Steffy’s accident, Finn and opioid dependence
Bill accidentally hits Steffy while she is riding her motorcycle. Finn treats her injuries, and their relationship develops into a romance. Steffy becomes dependent on prescription pain medication; Vinny supplies additional pills concealed in a gift. By the finale, she is hiding her drug use. Her intervention and recovery belong to the following season. paramountpressexpress.com
Zoe and Carter
Following Thomas’s humiliation of Zoe, she begins growing closer to Carter. Their emerging relationship becomes a continuing story in the next season. paramountpressexpress.com
4. Recasts and SORAS
| Character | Change | Date | Classification |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kelly Spencer | Avalon and Colette Gray take over from the preceding infant performers. | Early 2020; contemporary reports identify February, while another history gives March. | Child-to-child recast. Not child-to-adult SORAS. |
The recast was reported in February 2020. An exact first U.S. broadcast date for the Gray twins remains insufficiently established in the accessible records. Soap Opera Digest
No child-to-adult SORAS was identified within Season 33.
Two commonly confused changes fall outside this season:
- Thomas → Matthew Atkinson and Douglas → Henry Joseph Samiri occurred in March 2019, before Season 33.
- Zende → Delon de Metz was announced during summer 2020, but his first broadcast was October 7, 2020, in Season 34. This was an adult-to-adult recast. Soap Opera Network Community
5. Births
No new birth of a continuing character was identified during Season 33.
| Child | Clarification |
|---|---|
| Beth Spencer | Born January 4, 2019, in the preceding season. Her return to Hope and Liam also predates Season 33. |
| Kelly Spencer | Born in June 2018. Her 2020 casting change is not a new birth. |
| Sally’s proposed pregnancy | Part of her attempt to regain Wyatt; it does not result in a birth during this season. |
Beth’s birth, Kelly’s earlier introduction and Sally’s plan are documented separately. Fandom
6. New characters
| Character | Introduction | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Antonia — Kyra Green | September 20, 2019 | Forrester model; also appears September 23. |
| Dr. Davis — Tisha Campbell | October 4, 2019 | Specialist treating Katie’s kidney failure. |
| Dr. Choi — Martin Yu | October 2019, with appearances documented October 10–11 | Transplant storyline. |
| Camille — Stephanie Maura Sanchez | October 2019 | Transplant-centre representative. |
| Monica — Jessica Milagros | October 23, 2019 | Forrester public-relations specialist. |
| Colin — Oli Green | January 6, 2020 | Forrester employee showing interest in Steffy. |
| Dr. Penny Escobar — Monica Ruiz | February 7, 2020 | Sally’s physician and accomplice. |
| John “Finn” Finnegan — Tanner Novlan | July 23, 2020 | Steffy’s doctor and new romantic interest. |
These dates distinguish introductions from later returns or contract announcements. Finn’s debut is explicitly confirmed by CBS. Entertainment Tonight
Shauna, Flo, Vinny and Dr. Armstrong are not new Season 33 characters: they had already appeared before September 16, 2019. Paris Buckingham is introduced after this season, in November 2020. Soap Opera Network Community
7. Departures
| Character | Date or period | Circumstances |
|---|---|---|
| Dr. Jordan Armstrong | Autumn 2019 | Vincent Irizarry’s initial guest run concludes; contemporary casting notes reported him out by early November. |
| Bridget Forrester | March 30, 2020 | Final episode of her three-episode visit. |
| Thomas Forrester | March 2020 — temporary absence | Leaves the immediate storyline after his wedding deception is exposed; returns later in the season. |
| Sally Spectra | August 5, 2020 | Courtney Hope’s final B&B appearance in this run, after Sally’s deception and Flo’s kidnapping are exposed. |
| Dr. Penny Escobar | August 5, 2020 | Her guest storyline concludes alongside Sally’s. |
Sally’s exact final date is confirmed in Courtney Hope’s contemporary exit interview. Guest-run conclusions should not automatically be described as characters leaving Los Angeles. Daytime Royalty
Pam and Justin: changes from contract to recurring status occurred during this period, but both characters continued appearing. Those contractual changes are not character departures. Soap Opera Network Community
8. Returns of former characters
| Character | Date or period | Nature of return |
|---|---|---|
| Pearl — Mariana Vicente | September 23, 2019 | Returns as a Forrester model. |
| Charlotte — Camelia Somers | Early 2020; return documented in February casting coverage | Brief return to Forrester Creations. |
| Bridget Forrester — Ashley Jones | March 26, 27 and 30, 2020 | Three-episode family visit. |
Ashley Jones personally confirmed the revised broadcast dates for Bridget’s return. soaphub.com
Recurring appearances by Pam, Charlie, Jake and Amelia are included in the cast roster rather than treated as major returns after a definitive exit.
Outside the season: Zende’s October 7 return, Julius Avant’s October 23 appearance, and Eva’s November return all belong to Season 34. Daytime Royalty
9. Weddings
| Couple | Date | Outcome |
|---|---|---|
| Thomas Forrester and Zoe Buckingham | Ceremony unfolds March 11–13, 2020 | Aborted wedding. Hope exposes Thomas’s manipulation and continuing obsession with her. |
| Hope Logan and Liam Spencer | March 17, 2020 | Informal cabin ceremony arranged and “officiated” by Douglas, with homemade bride-and-groom T-shirts. The child-led ceremony itself is not legally binding. |
| Ridge Forrester and Shauna Fulton | Las Vegas encounter occurs in the April 2020 storyline; marriage disclosed August 10, 2020 | Presented as a drunken Las Vegas wedding. The deception surrounding the divorce and marriage continues into Season 34. |
The official archive documents Thomas and Zoe’s ceremony and the August disclosure. Contemporary and retrospective coverage establish March 17 for Hope and Liam’s informal wedding; later dialogue establishes that they subsequently made their marriage legal off-screen. The Bold and the Beautiful
Ridge and Shauna’s planned second ceremony in October 2020 is outside Season 33.
10. Deaths
No genuine present-day death of a principal continuing character was identified during Season 33.
Two apparent death stories should not be counted:
- Thomas survives his November 2019 fall into the vat. Hope’s belief that she killed him is mistaken.
- Sally’s terminal diagnosis is fabricated. She remains alive when she leaves the programme. The Bold and the Beautiful
Emma Barber’s death and the announcement of Caroline Spencer’s death both occurred before this season.
11. Y&R / B&B Crossovers
Y&R characters appearing in B&B
No newly produced Y&R-to-B&B crossover was identified within Season 33.
However, CBS aired a “Bold Gets Restless” classic crossover week, June 15–19, 2020. These were historical episodes rebroadcast during the shutdown:
| 2020 rebroadcast | Y&R-associated characters and performers | Original broadcast |
|---|---|---|
| June 15, 2020 | Lauren Fenmore portrayed by Tracey E. Bregman; Scott Grainger portrayed by Peter Barton; Sheila Carter portrayed by Kimberlin Brown | November 3, 1993 |
| June 16, 2020 | Victor Newman portrayed by Eric Braeden | January 29, 1999 |
| June 17, 2020 | Katherine Chancellor portrayed by Jeanne Cooper | November 1, 2005 |
| June 18, 2020 | Jack Abbott portrayed by Peter Bergman | December 24, 1998 |
| June 19, 2020 | Ashley Abbott portrayed by Eileen Davidson | September 26, 2007 |
The contemporary broadcast schedule supplies both the June rebroadcast dates and the original episode dates. Sheila and Ashley were established B&B characters during their respective periods, so their presence should not be mistaken for new guest visits in 2020. thetvwatercooler.com
B&B characters appearing in Y&R
No newly produced B&B-to-Y&R crossover was identified between September 16, 2019 and September 18, 2020.
Sally Spectra’s transfer to Y&R occurs on November 3, 2020, after the Season 33 cutoff. Her August B&B departure belongs here; her Genoa City introduction does not. newikis.com
