3. Main storylines

The custody battle over Will

Katie and Thorne move quickly towards marriage while Katie seeks sole custody of Will. Bill fights to retain his parental rights, with Brooke taking a position that puts her at odds with Katie and Ridge.

Ridge secretly pressures Judge Craig McMullen to favour Katie. Reese steals Hope and Liam’s baby

Hope goes into labour while stranded on Catalina Island during a storm. Reese Buckingham delivers her daughter, then tells Hope and Liam that Beth has died.

In reality, Reese steals the healthy baby to obtain money to settle gambling debts and protect Zoe from threats. He recruits Flo to pose as the birth mother. Taylor helps arrange an adoption for Steffy, who names the child Phoebe, unaware that she is raising Hope and Liam’s daughter. The Bold and the Beautiful

Hope’s grief destroys her marriage to Liam

Believing Beth dead, Hope struggles with grief and becomes convinced that Liam belongs with Steffy, Kelly and the newly adopted Phoebe.

Thomas returns with Douglas following Caroline’s death. Hope forms a powerful attachment to the grieving child, and Thomas exploits that bond to separate her from Liam and persuade her to marry him. He manipulates Douglas, including frightening him with a staged “ghost”, to advance his plans. The Bold and the Beautiful

The secret spreads—and Emma dies

Zoe, Xander, Shauna and Thomas become aware of the truth about Beth at different stages. Fear, loyalty and self-interest keep the secret concealed.

When Emma discovers that Beth is alive, she sets out to tell Hope. Thomas pursues her by car; Emma crashes and dies. He leaves her without helping, then continues to intimidate others who might expose the truth. The Bold and the Beautiful

Douglas helps expose the baby switch

Douglas overhears the truth and repeatedly insists that Phoebe is Beth. His statements push Liam to investigate.

Flo finally confesses, and Liam confronts Thomas. In early August, Hope learns that Beth is alive and reunites with her daughter. Steffy then suffers the devastating loss of the baby she has loved and raised as Phoebe. TVmaze

Flo discovers she is a Logan—and loses Wyatt

Flo reconnects with Wyatt, her former high-school boyfriend. Shauna’s arrival and a DNA investigation establish that Storm Logan is Flo’s father, making her part of the family she has helped deceive.

Wyatt’s relationship with Sally breaks down, and he reunites with Flo. Once her involvement in Beth’s disappearance is exposed, however, their romance collapses and Wyatt moves back towards Sally. Fandom

Thomas’s downfall divides Brooke and Ridge

After the truth emerges, Hope seeks to end her marriage to Thomas. A confrontation at Steffy’s cliff house culminates in Thomas falling over the cliff following Brooke’s intervention. He survives but requires hospital treatment.
