September 2009–September 2010 · U.S. broadcasts
For your September-to-September format, this guide covers September 1, 2009, through August 31, 2010. All dates refer to the original U.S. broadcasts.
This is a calendar-based division: streaming services and episode databases sometimes assign different boundaries to “Season 23.”
1. Number of episodes
| First episode | Last episode | Total |
|---|---|---|
| September 1, 2009 — #5641 | August 31, 2010 — #5892 | 252 episodes |
The total follows the continuous episode numbering: 5892 − 5641 + 1 = 252. The official archive confirms both endpoint dates. Its packaged Season 23 contains 251 episodes because it uses different boundaries. The Bold and the Beautiful
2. Characters and cast — alphabetical by surname

Children and casting qualifications
- Hope: Rachel and Amanda Pace are her preceding child performers. Their final year is inconsistently recorded as 2008 or 2009; I could not establish an appearance within this precise September 2009–August 2010 window. Kim Matula is the securely documented Hope for this period.
- Jack: casting histories also list Frank and Morgan Gingerich beginning in 2010. The exact handover within that year is insufficiently documented to assign them confidently to this particular window.
- Logan Knight: is born in September 2010, after the cutoff, and therefore belongs to the next guide. Fandom
3. Main storylines
Bill Spencer takes Forrester Creations
Bill’s campaign against the Forresters develops into a takeover of their company. Katie accepts a position at the centre of his business empire, becoming Forrester’s chief executive and placing herself in conflict with Ridge, Eric and eventually her own sisters. The Forresters attempt to undermine Bill’s ownership by deliberately producing an unsuccessful collection. Their efforts to regain the company turn professional disagreements into another round of family warfare. The Bold and the Beautiful
Katie and Bill marry; Steffy pursues Bill
Katie falls in love with Bill despite her family’s objections. Their wedding brings the wealthy businessman into the Logan family, but Steffy’s attraction to him creates immediate complications. Her advances threaten Katie’s marriage and become entangled with the Forresters’ efforts to recover their company. Steffy increasingly treats her sexuality, professional ambitions and family loyalty as parts of the same campaign. Michael Fairman TV
Stephanie’s stroke and Ann’s final visit
Stephanie experiences troubling neurological symptoms and suffers a stroke. Her vulnerability briefly changes her relationships with the people around her. Another emotional crisis follows when her mother, Ann, returns with terminal pancreatic cancer. Stephanie and Pam must confront their complicated family history while respecting Ann’s wishes about the end of her life. They take her to Paradise Cove, where she dies with her daughters beside her. The Bold and the Beautiful
Nick and Bridget’s surrogacy; Sandy’s hidden identity
Nick and Bridget pursue surrogacy with a woman calling herself Sandy Sommers. Nick discovers that she is really Agnes Jones, Whip’s cousin, who changed her identity after being raped. Her story exposes the consequences of untested rape kits and the failure to investigate sexual violence. Fashion photographer Graham Darros is revealed as her attacker when he drugs Hope and attempts to assault her. Nick and Aggie intervene, and Graham is arrested. en.wikipedia.org
The lost pregnancy and Bridget’s encounter with Owen
Aggie loses the baby she is carrying for Nick and Bridget. Bridget, devastated by the loss and distressed by secrets between Nick and their surrogate, turns to Owen. Their encounter results in another pregnancy, and a paternity test reveals that Owen is the father. The revelation destroys Nick and Bridget’s marriage and forces Jackie to confront the fact that her husband is expecting a child with her daughter-in-law. The Bold and the Beautiful
Hope’s SORAS and the rivalry with Steffy
Hope returns as a teenager and begins working at Forrester Creations. Her “Hope for the Future” concept intensifies Steffy’s resentment of the Logans’ influence. Their rivalry extends to Oliver Jones, who falls in love with Hope while Steffy attempts to attract him. Brooke and Taylor defend their respective daughters, allowing the younger generation’s conflict to reproduce an already familiar family pattern. Fandom
Brooke and Oliver’s mistaken-identity encounter
At Hope’s masked graduation party, Brooke believes she is having sex with Ridge, while Oliver believes his partner is Hope. Their discovery of the mistake becomes one of the season’s central secrets. Steffy learns what happened and blackmails them, demanding changes at Forrester and Hope’s departure. The truth is subsequently broadcast during a company presentation, humiliating Brooke and devastating Hope. Liam and Justin’s involvement in the video complicates the initial assumption that Steffy alone arranged the exposure. The Bold and the Beautiful
Beth’s death destroys Eric and Donna’s marriage
Beth, who has Alzheimer’s disease, drowns in the Forrester swimming pool after a confrontation with Stephanie. Donna holds Stephanie responsible and cannot accept Eric’s defence of his former wife. Their marriage collapses. The divorce becomes another battle over Forrester shares, with Bill recognising an opportunity to regain influence over the company. Fandom
Stephen manipulates Pam to avenge Beth
Grieving Stephen blames Stephanie for Beth’s death. He begins a relationship with Pam and attempts to turn her against her sister. The scheme escalates into an armed confrontation at Big Bear. Stephen’s subsequent legal troubles become connected to Bill’s manoeuvring over Donna’s divorce settlement and Forrester stock. The Bold and the Beautiful
Liam arrives and searches for his father
Liam Cooper comes to Los Angeles after his mother’s death, looking for his biological father. Both Thorne and Bill become possibilities. He also becomes involved in the aftermath of Brooke’s scandal and grows close to Hope. By the end of August, his connection to Bill is becoming a central story, laying the foundations for the expanded Spencer family. Fandom
4. Recasts and SORAS
| Character | Change | Date and significance |
|---|---|---|
| Hope Logan | Rachel and Amanda Pace → Kim Matula | January 11, 2010. The major SORAS of the season: Hope changes from a young child into a teenager approaching high-school graduation. |
| Thomas Forrester | Drew Tyler Bell’s run ends; Adam Gregory is announced as his replacement | Bell’s final episode airs August 27, 2010. Gregory first appears September 22, 2010, in the following season under this cutoff. |
| Jack Marone | Edward and James Nigbor → Frank and Morgan Gingerich | Historical cast lists place the change in 2010, but an exact broadcast date within this window remains unconfirmed. |
Hope’s change is an unmistakable SORAS. Thomas is already a young adult, so his replacement is a conventional recast. Jack’s casting change should not be described as a child-to-adult SORAS. Fandom
5. Births
No completed birth is securely documented within September 1, 2009–August 31, 2010.
The major pregnancy storyline concerns Bridget and Owen’s son, Logan Knight. The official archive places Bridget’s labour in the September 3, 2010 episode and describes the birth in the September 7, 2010 episode. Both fall into the following calendar block.
Aggie’s pregnancy as Nick and Bridget’s surrogate ends in miscarriage during early March 2010. The Bold and the Beautiful
6. New characters
| First appearance | Character | Introduction |

| January 20, 2010 | Oliver Jones — portrayed by Zack Conroy | Aggie’s brother, a photographer and music enthusiast who becomes Hope’s boyfriend. |
| July 19, 2010 | Liam Cooper / Liam Spencer — portrayed by Scott Clifton | A young man searching for his father, eventually identified as Bill’s son. |
These are the principal new continuing or story-driving characters. Bill and Justin are already established before September 2009, so their first appearances belong to the preceding guide. Michael Fairman TV

| August 27, 2010 | Drew Tyler Bell as Thomas Forrester | Bell leaves the role; Thomas returns with Adam Gregory the following month. |
Aly’s final run and R.J.’s disappearance are casting/offscreen changes, not deaths. Rick, Bridget, Owen, Jackie, Aggie and Whip remain part of the programme at this cutoff. Fandom

| November 12–13, 2009 | Karen Spencer — portrayed by Joanna Johnson | Appears for Bill and Katie’s wedding. |

Whip is a returning character in the broader 2009 storyline, but his comeback begins before this September cutoff. C.J. Garrison’s December 21–22, 2010 return belongs to the next guide. TVmaze
9. Weddings and marriages

Separately, Aggie miscarries the baby she is carrying for Nick and Bridget in early March 2010. This pregnancy loss is central to the subsequent Bridget–Owen storyline. Soap Opera Digest
11. Y&R / B&B Crossovers
Characters moving from Y&R to B&B
| Character | Date | Crossover |
|---|---|---|
| Amber Moore — portrayed by Adrienne Frantz | July 1, 2010 | Returns to Los Angeles after the end of her marriage to Daniel Romalotti in Genoa City. Whip recruits her to work at Jackie M. |
Amber originally belongs to B&B, but this appearance directly continues her four-year Y&R run. It is a continuing transfer back to B&B, rather than a brief guest appearance. michaelfairmantv.com
B&B-origin characters appearing in Y&R
| Character | Dates / status | Crossover |
|---|---|---|
| Amber Moore — portrayed by Adrienne Frantz | Appears on Y&R through May 7, 2010 | Completes her Genoa City storyline before returning to B&B in July. |
| Deacon Sharpe — portrayed by Sean Kanan | Continues appearing during this period; his Y&R debut was July 10, 2009 | His original transfer precedes this season. His continuing story involves Amber and Daniel, followed by his involvement with Nikki Newman. |
| Eric “Little D” Sharpe — child performer unidentified | 2010, during Amber’s Y&R storyline | Deacon and Becky’s son figures in Amber’s decision to leave Genoa City. |
Deacon does not return onscreen to B&B during this period. Likewise, Don Diamont playing Bill Spencer is a separate casting role, rather than a crossover appearance by Y&R’s Brad Carlton. www.soapoperanetwork.com
