A note on the season dates: I could not verify the boundaries of Season 38 from an accessible CBS archive or the show’s official YouTube channel. Consequently, I cannot present the dates below as officially confirmed.
The working period used for this guide is September 7, 2010–August 26, 2011, corresponding to episodes #9479–#9725 in TheTVDB’s listing. That database contains omissions and inconsistent numbering, so its episode count should not be treated as authoritative. All event dates below refer to the original US broadcasts where established. Births
| Child | Date and circumstances |
|---|---|
| Lucy Romalotti | Born in the story on January 1, 2011; first on-screen appearance January 3, 2011. Daughter of Daniel Romalotti and Daisy Carter; Daniel delivers her. |
| Dylan Hellstrom | J.T. and Mackenzie’s son is reported born off-screen in June 2011. I could not securely establish an exact birth or announcement date. |
Lucy’s fictional birth date and first broadcast appearance should therefore be recorded separately. Moses Winters belongs to the following season: he is born on October 11, 2011. Wikipedia
Recasts and SORAS
| Character | Change |
|---|---|
| Noah Newman | Luke Kleintank debuts September 21, 2010, presenting Noah as a young adult. His last appearance is April 8, 2011; Kevin G. Schmidt returns April 14, 2011. This is an additional aging/recasting stage; Noah’s earlier major child-to-teen SORAS occurred in 2008. |
| Diane Jenkins | Maura West debuts October 8, 2010, replacing Susan Walters. This is an adult recast, not SORAS. |
| Eden Baldwin | Jessica Heap debuts June 28, 2011, replacing Vanessa Marano after the character’s absence. Eden returns as a young adult. |
| Jeffrey Bardwell | Kin Shriner temporarily replaces Ted Shackelford, with the substitution announced to begin airing in late April 2011. |
| Faith Newman | Infant casting changes occur during 2011. The available records do not securely establish every handover date within this season. |
The dates for Noah, Diane and Eden are documented in casting histories and contemporary reporting. The Jeffrey announcement quotes a Y&R spokesperson. Wikipedia
Delia’s later SORAS: Sophie Pollono’s arrival is generally associated with September 2011, alongside the leukemia storyline. I have therefore not included her as an established performer within the provisional August 26 cutoff. Conflicting secondary records prevent a firmer first-airdate claim here.
