January 9 : Chris Tucker presents the Artist of The Century Award to Michael at the American Music Awards held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

Michael’s speech : “First I would like to say; Chris Tucker, you are the funniest man in the world. Larry Cline, Dick Clark. [to Chris Tucker, handing him the award] Can you hold this for me? [while reaching in his pocket for a piece of paper] I’d like to thank people that are very important in my life. My mother and father, John McClain, Nicoletta Sotille, Rodney Jerkins, I think you’re a musical genius, and Teddy Riley. I love you Quincy Jones, you’re amazing. Trudy Green, Howard Kaufman, Suzzane De Passe, Tony Jones, Diana Ross, Marlon Brando, Gladys Knight, and my other father, Marlon Brando, I love you.”

Chris introduces film director Brett Ratner to Michael.

February : Michael is on the cover of the March issue of VIBE magazine with an exclusive interview & photoshoot that took place in December 2001 at Neverland. In the interview he talks about 9/11 : “I was in New York [after performing at Madison Square Garden on September 7 and 10 , and I got a call from friends in Saudi Arabia that America was being attacked. I turned on the news and saw the Twin Towers coming down, and I said, Oh my God. I screamed down the hotel hallway to all our people, Everybody get out, let’s leave now! Marlon Brando was on one end, our security was on the other end. We were all up there, but Elizabeth Taylor was at another hotel. We all got out of there as quickly as we could. We jumped in the car, but there were these girls who had been at the show the night before, and they were banging on the windows, running down the street screaming. Fans are so loyal. We hid in New Jersey. It was unbelievable-I was scared to death.”

February 9 : Michael & Elizabeth Taylor attend the fund-raiser Art For Aids : A Tribute To Rock Hudson at the Laguna Art Museum in Laguna Beach. Later in the evening, they attend a private dinner at Dana Point with Michael’s dermatologist Dr Arnold Klein.

February 13 : Michael hosts a party for Prince’s 5th birthday at Neverland with Grace & the Cascio family.

February 19 : Michael gives an interview to Steve Harvey on his radio show The Steve Harvey Morning Show on Los Angeles’ The Beat 100.3. He discusses his album Invincible, the tabloids, and Neverland.

February 21 : Birth of Michael’s new son Prince Michael II at the Grossmont Hospital in San Diego, California. Soon after Michael accompanied by Connie Cascio pick up the baby from the surrogate’s representative at an hotel and take in to Neverland on a private luxury bus. They soon nickname him Blanket!

February 24 : Michael, Elizabeth Taylor & Brett Ratner attend a private party at Mark Damon’s house to announce that Neverland Entertainment and Raju Sharad Patel have signed with Damon’s independant film company MDP Worldwide Entertainment to create a new division called Neverland Pictures. Michael invests $15-20 million inMDP Worldwide Entertainment Inc., a little-known Montreal film producer and distributor, and its new division to be called Neverland Pictures. Films planned include “Tom Thumb” and “Wolfed!”, based on the novel “The Wolf-Leader” by Alexander Dumas.

March : Michael decides to finance & produce the “Unbreakable” short film by himself. He asks Brett Ratner to direct it and wants Chris Tucker & Mel Gibson to play in it.

March 05 : Michael’s background vocals for Brandy’s “It’s Not Worth It” is released with her “Full Moon” album. Later, producer Rodney Jerkins releases instrumental track “Ride with Me” containing these background vocals more prominently in his “Versatility” album.

March 16 : Michael is best man at the wedding of David Gest & Liza Minnelli celebrated in New York City with a galaxy of stars such as Elizabeth Taylor, Diana Ross, Frank Cascio, Joan Collins and Michael’s brothers Randy & Tito. His French fan Joanna Thomae gets inside and spends time with MJ.

March 17 : Michael goes shopping with Prince & Paris in NYC at Toys R Us and Disney Store.

March 18 : Michael and his kids leave NYC. Before leaving, Michael asks to speak to Joanna. He introduces her to his new son, Blanket. Angry with Sony Music who refused to release “What More Can I Give” & finance the “Unbreakable” short film, Michael explains the situation to Joanna and encourage the fans to push the promotion of “Invincible”. Two weeks later, Joanna and other fans lauch a new website : “Make Invincible visible”.

Late March : Back to Neverland, Frank decides to take a break from working for MJ and he comes back to NYC.

April : Sony announces that they won’t release the “Unbreakable” single. The short film production is canceled. The promotion of the Invincible album is over with only two singles…

Michael’s former business manager Myung-Ho Lee files a $13 million lawsuit claiming that on September 14, Michael met him in Los Angeles and signed an agreement to pay him those fees but he never got them. Michael’s lawyer Zia Moddaber answsers that his client never signed anything and was not even in Los Angeles on that date…

Michael and Brian Michael Stollers work on a movie project called “They Cage The Animals At Night” based on a novel.

April 03 : Michael hosts a party for Paris 4th birthday at Neverland with Prince, Blanket, Brett Barnes and Grace.

April 12 : Michael talks to the the actionnaires of MDP Worldwide through a recorded video message asking them to rename the company Neverland Pictures. The first movies project is called “Wolfed”.

April 20 : At the Pasadena Civic Auditorium, Michael tapes a performance of “Dangerous” for Dick Clark’s 50th Anniversary of American Bandstand. He gives a short interview before the taping with Entertainment Tonight answering questions about his children.

April 21 : Michael, Grace and the kids go to NYC.

April 22 : The three biggest Michael Jackson’s fan-clubs in the world gather their effort to denounce the lack of promotion of Invincible from Sony Music and they organize many demonstrations of fans to re-launch the album.

April 23 : Michael and his dancers rehearse for the upcoming ‘A Night at the Apollo’ performance.

April 24 : Michael performs “Dangerous”, “Black Or White” & “Heal The World” (joined by Diana Ross!) during a fund-raiser for the Democratic National Committee’s Every Vote Counts ‘campaign held at the mythic Apollo Theatre in Harlem. This is Michael’s last live performance and the last time MJ performs the songs “Dangerous”, “Black Or White” & “Heal The World in front of an audience.

April 25 : Michael goes to Clinton’s office in Harlem with Karen Faye, Grace, the kids and Chris Tucker. They pose for pictures together.

May :  Katherine, Jackie, LaToya, Tito, Janet, Rebbie & Randy stage an intervention at Neverland to help Michael on his prescription-drug dependency. Michael & LaToya are reunited 14 years after their last meeting during the 1988 Bad Tour. Michael introduces them to Blanket.

June 01 : Michael gives an interview to Gold Magazine. In the interview he talks about a new movie project named “Wolfed” : “As of now, our schedule says that ‘Wolfed’ will be the first film. That’s going to be fun. I want it to be really scary. Rick Baker wants to do all the visual effects. He has seven Academy awards. Rick is very excited about it too — he did ‘American Werewolf in London’. He won an Oscar, and he said, “Michael, that was nothing.” That’s nothing compared to what he can do today. And he did ‘Thriller’ and he said of that, “It’s nothing.” He can go way beyond that. He did all the Eddie Murphy films, ‘Clumps and Nutty Professor’ and all that ‘Men In Black’ stuff, too. He does all that.”

June 6 : Michael joins the NAC (National Action Network), a recently formed coalition which has been set up to investigate artist exploitation by major record labels supported by lawyer Jonnnie Cochran and civil rights campaigner Reverend Al Sharpton. He also denies owing $200 millions to Sony Music

June 10 : Michael arrives in London and checks in the Marriott Renaissance Hotel.

June 11 : Michael has dinner with Uri Geller and his family. Geller introduces him to British journalist Martin Bashir who wants to do a TV documentary on Michael.

June 12 : Michael goes shopping at Hamley’s.

June 13 : Michael goes shopping at HMV store.

Michael is inducted into the National Academy of Popular Music/Songwriters Hall Of Fame. Liza Minnelli & David Gest accept the award on his behalf.

June 14 : Michael visits the Houses of Parliament accompanied by Uri Geller and magician David Blaine. Later, Michael leaves Paddington Station, on a train ride to Exeter with Geller, Blaine, Mark Lester & 200 fans. They go to St James’ Park where 10 000 had gathered for this fund-raising event, organized to raise money for the footclub club and two charities aimed at combating Aids and malaria.

June 15 : Michael attends a fan demonstration at the Sony Music offices in London . He arrives riding on the top deck of a London open topped bus which has been organized for him by a group of fans. Later, Michael attends a fan-club event with Uri Geller at the Equinox nightclub where he speaks for the first time of his problems with Sony and his CEO Tommy Mottolla.

June 17 : Michael has business meetings with Mohamed Al Fayed and Adrian Grant.

Michael’s approval of singer Monica’s request to sample “P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)” is released in Monica’s “All Eyez on Me” single; he had hand-delivered the master to the studio she was working in.

June 18 : Michael flies back to L.A and goes to Neverland.

June 20 : Michael’s french fans Joanna and Sandra visit Neverland where they see Michael with his children.

July 2 : An unreleased demo from 1983 ‘There Must Be More To Life Than This’, taken from a collaboration between Freddy Mercury and Michael Jackson leaks on the internet.

July 6 : Michael attends a fan demonstration at the Sony Music offices in Manhattan, New York. As he did in London, Michael arrives on the top of a double-decker bus. Later, Michael goes to a civil rights meeting to speak out against the music industry’s treatment of the artists and he calls Tommy Mottala a “racist, mean and devilish man” which causes a huge controversy. In the evening, Michael attends a fan-club party with Grace & Karen at the Grand Ballroom of Webster Hall where he is presented with the ‘The Michael Jackson 30th Anniversary Fan Award’.

July 9 : Michael goes to Al Sharpton’s National Action Network headquaters in Harlem where he speaks again of a conspiracy in the record industry against black artists.

July 13 : Michael gives a live telephone interview with The Journal News.

Mid July : Michael moves into the Four Seasons Hotel in Las Vegas with Prince, Paris & Blanket, their nannies Grace & Patricia & bodyguards.

July 30/31 : Michael invites British journalist Martin Bashir to Neverland to shoot a documentary on his life.

August : Michael releases a videotaped message addressing the victims of the severe flood in Germany. Following extremely heavy rain falls, the flood at the river Elbe in Germany caused damages which were estimated to run into billions. Hundreds of thousands of people had to be evacuated, thousands of houses were destroyed or are uninhabitable, several people were killed. The flood also caused severe damages in Austria and the Czech Republic and has been considered to be the worst in the last 100 years in this region. : “To the people of Germany: I send my deepest concern, my deepest and most heartfelt condolences. You are not alone, I am here in spirit with you. And you are in my prayers. Remember – God is with you. And have faith in the fact that this too shall pass. All my love and caring. I love you forever. Thank you.”

August 6 : Michael attends one of the “Voice of Magic” performances of magician Darren Romeo, protégé of Siegfried and Roy, in Las Vegas, Nevada at the Mirage Hotel; after the performance, Siegfried invites Michael backstage to bottle-feed one of their Siberian White tiger cubs. Michael introduces them to Blanket. Soon after they tell the press that Michael has a new son thus revealing to the world the existence of Prince Michael Jackson II.

Mid-August : Michael films a message for the victims of the recent floods in Germany.

August 26 : Michael invites Chris Tucker to Las Vegas so that they can work on film projects together. He also invites the Wolf, a German family who lost everything during the recent floods to Neverland.

August 29 : Michael goes to New York City to appear at the MTV Video Awards Ceremony, held at Radio City Music Hall, where Britney Spears presents him a birthday cake for his 44th birthday but Michael misundetstands and gives a thanking speech for the Artist of the Millenium award. The Cascio family attends the event.

Michael opens the gates of Neverland to all the fans that came for his birthday.

September : Michael invites journalist Martin Bashir to Las Vegas . They do interviews and go on a shopping spree with Prince, Paris & Grace.

September 26 : Michael is at Neverland with Martin Bashir to shoot an interview with young Gavin Arvizo who says Michael saved him from cancer. At one point, he holds Michael’s hands and reveals that he has slept over in his bed (Michael adds that he slept on the floor).

October 12 : Michael invites more than 200 members of the US Air Force and their families to spend the day at Neverland.

November 2 : Michael accepts the World Arts Awards through a recorded video message during the World Awards For Men in Vienna. Michael couldn’t accept the award personally but sent a video message which was announced by Mikhail Gorbachev : “Dear guest of honor. Dear Mr. Gorbachev. It is a great honor for me to be selected by Mr. Gorbachev and the jury to receive the ‘World Arts Award 2002’. This year the motto of the World Awards is ‘Peace’ and Tolerance’. These values are especially dear to me. In my own heart and mind I stand united with you for peace, love and tolerance in the world. I have to thank Mr. Günther Stampf, Mr. Georg Kindel and I thank President Mikhail Gorbachev. I love you very much. Thank you so much. Thank you.”

Early november : Frank Cascio visits Michael at Neverland.

November 13/14/15 : Michael goes to the Santa Maria Courthouse to testify in the Marcel Avram trial. His appearance causes media frenzy.

November 19 : Michael arrives in Berlin, with his three children and Grace. Later that day, he shocks the world by dangling Blanket over the balcony of his hotel suite because he wanted to show him to the fans. In the evening he goes to the restaurant with journalist Martin Bashir & business partner Dieter Wiesner.

November 20 : Michael is on the cover of all the tabloids around the world because of the “Balconygate” and although he issues a statement of apologises, he is severly critisized.

Michael takes Prince & Paris to the zoo (with Grace, Wiesner & Bashir) but he puts scarfs on their faces to protect their identity which is also severly critisized.

In the evening, Michael attends the charity gala “A Tribute to Bambi” with Wiesner & Bashir where he donates one of his jacket for auction.

November 21 : Michael gives an interviews yo “Bunte” magazine at his Adlon Hotel room about his stay in Berlin. After, he meets the Wolf family, who he invited to visit after they suffered a home loss during the German floods in August.

Michael attends the Bambi Awards with Wiesner & Bashir where Boris Becker presents him the Pop Artist Of The Millenium award. During the ceremony, the video for “What More Can I Give” is premiered.

November 23 : Michael, Grace, Prince, Paris, Blanket, Dieter & bodyguard Mike LaPerruque take a flight from Berlin to Frankfurt (due to a severe thunderstorm, the flight os extremely turbulent, and Michael is terrified) and then from Frankfurt to Los Angeles.

November 25 : Janet introduces her new boyfriend Jermaine Dupri to the Jackson family during Thanksgiving dinner at Hayvenhurst.

November 28 : Bunte magazine publishes a short interview of Michael.

December : Michael invites Dieter Wiesner & Ronald Konotzer at Neverland to work on a 10 year plan named “MJ Universe”.

Bryan Michael Stoller is given permission to shoot Michael Jackson’s scenes at Neverland Ranch for “Miss Cast Away and the Island Girls” (also known as Miss Cast Away and as Silly Movie 2 as titled for re-release in 2008). This parody anarchic comedy film iswritten and directed by Bryan Michael Stoller and produced on a $2 million budget. During filming, Michael has a telephone conversation with Elizabeth Taylor, telling her that he did backing vocals for the Doobie Brothers.

Michael and Bryan Michael Stoller also work on a movie adaptation of “They Cage the Animals at Night” an autobiography written by Jennings Michael Burch. It tells the story of his childhood, detailing his experience with foster care, with an epilogue of what happened to the family’s members. In the book, he talks about traveling to various foster homes after being abandoned by his mother, his experiences in each of them, and how he relied upon a stuffed animal he named “Doggie”. Michael invites Jennings Michael Burch to Neverland. Bryan Michael Stoller films them together as Michael interviews the author.

December 1 : Michael takes Prince, Paris & Blanket to Disney World in Orlando with the Cascio family.

December 3/4 : Michael goes back to the Santa Maria Courthouse to resume his testimony in the Marcel Avram trial. He arrives on crutches after being severly bitten by a spider at Neverland.

December 9 : Live from Neverland, Chris Tucker presents Michael a special award to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Thriller during the Billboard Awards. Frank Cascio and 4 fans are present (including Joanna Thomae).

December 20 : Gold magazine publishes an interview of Michael.

Michael goes to Miami to visit houses.

Michael records “All in Your Name” with singer Barry Gibb in Miami, Florida, at Middle Ear Studio.

December 23 : Bryan Michael Stoller films Michael at Neverland taping a Christmas message to Panasonic to thank them for their new digital camera.

Michael makes a Christmas televised message via The German channel ZDF to his fans and the world asking us to not only love but to care for those in need and continue to help him in his efforts to HEAL THE WORLD for children.

December 24/25 : Michael celebrates Christmas at Neverland with Prince, Paris, Blanket, the Cascio family, the Bhatti Family, the Schleiter Family & the Farshchian family.

Early January : Michael, Grace & the kids go back to the Four Seasons Hotel in NYC.

January 19 : Michael donates a coat to the Movie Action for Children auction. All proceeds go to UNICEF’s efforts to prevent mother-to-child HIV transmission in Africa. Michael promises to donate a personal phone call on the highest bidder’s birthday.

February 13 : Michael hosts a party for Prince’s 4th birthday in NYC.

February 14 : Hundreds of fans gather inside Carnegie Hall in New York to welcome Michael to a pre-launch event panel for his new charity ‘Heal The Kids’. The charities main initiative is to help restore a child’s birthright to nurturing care. Michael Jackson’s Heal The World Foundation and The Seminar Center presented a special Valentines Day Extravaganza featuring an all-star pPanel of celebrities and experts. The event takes place at the Carnegie Hall in New York City with Shmuley Boteach & Frank Cascio.

From adversity as children to superstardom as professionals, The King of Pop, Michael Jackson and London Times “Millennium Preacher of the Year” and international best-seller author, Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, have had to learn to balance careers and parenthood. This was the first public event by the Heal the Kids initiative, a project of the Heal the World Foundation that aims to help busy adults reprioritize children. The children we raise with love today will lead our world tomorrow! Jackson and Boteach organized the Valentine’s Day Seminar to promote family love. A panel of children’s experts and celebrity held a lively, insightful and entertaining discourse about romantic love, family devotion and professional dedication. Michael Jackson appeared live to welcome and introduce his guests and was in attendance all evening. Prior to the event Michaelt sent ‘A Invitation to The World’s Greatest Fans!’

March 04 : Michael arrives on commercial plane at London’s Heathrow Airport with a damaged leg in a plaster cast, following a fall at his ranch. He is accompanied by Frank Cascio (Tyson). Early Sunday afternoon, He checked in at the Lanesborough Hotel in London. He later goes shopping with friend actor Macaulay Culkin, going to the HMV records store and buying a selection of CD’s. His bodyguard during this UK visit iq Matt Fiddes.

March 05 : Michael has lunch with friends Uri Geller and Shmuley Boteach in a restaurant in the center of London. Later, he accompanies them to the Royal Institute of British Architects to attend a brief ceremony for the launch of a new book co-written by Boteach and Geller, “Confessions of a Rabbi and Psychic”. Matt Fiddes and Uri Geller and Macauley Culkin visit Michael as he needed a doctor due to foot pain. Frank organises medical assistance and stays in a separate room to MJ.

March 06 : Michael goes to the Oxford University with Matt Fiddes, Frank Cascio and Schmuley Boteach to give a moving speech about childhood. Frank, Uri, Schmuley & german business partner Dieter Wiesner attend the event. Michael gives a highly personal speech to promote his “Heal The Kids” program, in which he expresses his appreciation for children, explains his forgiveness to his father, and urges families to reconnect with their children. Michael’s donation of a birthday call and a coat to the “Movie Action for Children” auction at Sotheby’s supports UNICEF’s efforts to prevent mother-to-child HIV transmission in Africa.

Michael, Rabbi, Frank, Uri and heal the kids staff. Attend a business meeting in london. And a rehearsal to be Uri Gellers best man at the wedding the following day.

At 11:30 pm Michael, Matt Fiddes ,Uri Geller, Michaels make up artist Janet, Schmuley Boteach and movie star Richard E Grant all go to a secret secret dinner at Blenheim palace in Oxford the former home of Winston Churchill. The dinner is organised by the grandchildren of the Charlie Chaplin family. Fiddes, Frank and Michael go back to the lanesbrough hotel to sleep ready for Uri Gellers wedding where Michael was best man the next day. Again all rooms were separated.

March 07 : Michael is still asleep at the Lanesbrough hotel when the wedding is meant to start at sonning on Thames in reading at uri homes Fiddes and Frank are staying in the suite and wake Michael up as he had the wedding rings and arrived 2.5 hours later. Uri and the Rabbi instruct Matt and Frank to wake Michael up. Michael is Uri Geller’s best man at his wedding celebrated in the Berkshire by Schmuley Boteach. In the evening Michael (with Frank) attends the 10th annual Michael Jackson Day held by Adrian Grant at the Hammersmith Apollo Theatre.

March 9-11 : Michael & Frank spend the week end in the Italian Alps before returning to New York. They meet Dr Jurgen Todenhoefer and his family.

March 10 : Janet is the first artist to be honored with the MTV Icon Award during a TV Special on MTV. At the end, Jermaine, Jackie, Marlin & Tito go on stage to congratulate Janet. March 15 : The German tv show “Wetten, dass..?” (ZDF) celebrate it’s 20th anniversary in 2001. Several celebrities, including Michael Jackson, sent messages to congratulate “Wetten, dass..?” and show host Thomas Gottschalk. Below follows a transcript of Michael’s audio message: “Hi, this is Michael Jackson. I would like to say hello to all my fans in Germany and ZDF. Congratulations for the 20th anniversary of ‘Wetten, dass…?’. Thomas, there will be at least 20 more successful years. Ich liebe Euch.” [“I love you” in German]”.

March 19 : N’Sync induct Michael in the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame as a solo artist during a special presentation at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City. Michael invites Frank “Tyson” Cascio and Shmuley Boteach as his guests. MJ : “Berry Gordy, Berry Gordy, Berry Gordy, Berry Gordy. I just have to say thank you. He was so important in our lives, and he is really my real inspiration, and I owe him so much. Quincy Jones, thank you. We talk about a ‘Thriller,’ it’s Quincy. You’re incredible. I love you, Quincy. He is the man. The glamorous and talented and beautiful Diana Ross, who is my second mother–I thank you. […] To me, the gift of music has been a great blessing, from the time I was a child.” And referring to a broken foot he suffered in a fall at his Neverland home lately he apologized: “As you can see, there’s not going to be any moonwalking tonight because I broke my foot dancing — I fell down the stairs in California.”

March 21 : Michael meets with Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon at a private reception at the home of Israeli businessman Benny Shabtai on Manhattan’s Upper Wes Side in New York. Uri Geller and Rabbi Shmuley Boteach were also present.

March 25 : Michael goes to Newark, New Jersey, with Frank & Schmuley to distribute books to children under Heal The Kids.

April : Michael, Grace & the kids spend 2 weeks at Teddy Riley’s home in Virginia where he & Michael work on Invincible. Then they go back to NYC and check in the Plaza Athénée Upper East Side.

Michael wraps up conversations with Rabbi Shmuley Boteach about his life, which he started recording in August 2000. These intimate conversations became available in Boteach’s 2009 book. The conversations, free of Boteach’s biased commentary found in the book, are available in the text document. Some time later, Michael & Shmuley have a fallout and Heal The Kids Foundation is dismanttled…

Avril 3 : Michael hosts a party for Paris 3rd birthday at Teddy Riley’s home in Virginia where he & Michael work on Invincible. Frank Cascio joins them.

May : Michael, Frank, Grace & the kids check in the Sheraton Bel Harbour in Miami Beach where Michael completes the recording & mixing of Invincible with Bruce Swedien, Rodney Jerkins & Teddy Riley.

Michael meets Dr Alex Farshchian who becomes his personal physician.

Michael meets comedian Chris Tucker through Gavin Arvizo. Michael & Chris become friends and record a new version of “Don’t Stop Til You Get Enough” for the soundtrack of Rush Hour 2.

June : Michael hires Marc Schaffel and they create a new company Neverland Valley Entertainment with a common bank account.

June 12 : At the Hit Factory Criteria studio in Miami, Michael & Bruce present the new album called Invincible to Sony excecutives. The album is not 100 % completed. He wants the song “Unbreakable” to be the first single but Sony insists for the song “You Rock My World” and Michael accepts. He starts to work on the short film with director Hype Williams.

June 28 : Michael gets on stage at the end of the Summer Jam Concert festival in Long Island to hug rapper Jay-Z with whom he has just done background vocals For his song Girls, Girls, Girls.

July : Dissatisfied with the video concept of Hype Williams, Michael hires Paul Hunter to direct You Rock My World.

He starts rehearsing for 2 concerts produced by David Gest and scheduled for september 7 & 10 in New York to Celebrates his 30th Anniversary as a solo artis

August : Michael starts working on the “Unbreakable” short film with director Dave Meyers. He has a visual concept and asks Lucasfilms Studio to take care of the special effects.

August 9 : In a Los Angeles dance studio, Michael starts rehearsing a medley with his 5 brothers for the upcoming New York concerts.

August 13-21 : Michael shoots the “You Rock My World “short film in Los Angeles directed by Paul Hunter and featuring Chris Tucker and a special appearance by Marlon Brando!

August 18 : New York’s KTU radio premieres MJ’s ‘You Rock My World’.

August 22 : After several leaks, the song “You Rock My World” is finally released as the 1st single from “Invincible”. It peaks at #10 on Hot 100 Billboard.

August 24 : You Rock My World“, the first single from the forthcoming Michael Jackson’s album “Invincible” is premiered online, on internet at http://michaeljackson.com.

August 29 : Michael celebrates his 43rd birthday at the Cascio family home in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey.

August 30 : Early in the morning, Michael opens the stock exchange at NASDAQ on Times Square in New York City. He is also presented with a birthday cake and a Shirley Temple poster.

September 05 : Michael goes to the Madison Square Garden to rehearse for his upcoming concerts.

September 06 : Michael goes to the Madison Square Garden to rehearse his duets with Britney Spears (The Way You Make Me Feel), Whitney Houston (One Day In Your Life) & N’Sync (Dancing Machine).

In the evening, he makes a surprise appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards at the Metropolitan Opera House, Lincoln Center in NYC to dance with N’Sync at the end of their performance.

Janet also attends the MTV Video Music Awards.

While in NYC Janet visits the Jackson family who is in town for Michael’ concerts at the Madison Square Garden.

September 7 : It’s Michael’s day in New York City ! All the biggest stars of music, films & sport gather to attend his concert at the Madison Square Garden . Michael arrives one hour late with Elizabeth Taylor and during the first part of the show he watches tributes perfomances of his songs by today’s biggest artist in a VIP section with all his family & friends (Joe, Katherine, Rebbie, Macauley Culkin, the Cascios, Gregory Peck, Mark Lester & many more) while other friends such as Liza Minelli or Marlon Brando pay him respect on stage. Prince & Paris are in audience with Omer Bhatti.

During the second part of the show, Michael performs a live medley with the Jacksons (joined by N’Sync on Dancing Machine), + The Way You Make Me Feel in duet with Britney Spears, Billie Jean, Black Or White with Slash, You Rock My World & We Are The World with Quincy Jones, Yoko Ono and many stars.

After the concert, Michael attends briefly an after party held at the Tavern On The Green where he poses for pictures with many stars including Beyonce from the Destiny’s Child and Yoko Ono.

September 10 : Michael performs a second concert at the Madison Square Garden . At the end of You Rock My World, Usher & Chris Tucker gets on the stage to dance with him!

This concert is the last time Michael ever performs with his brothers. It’s also the last time Michael performs the songs “Can You Feel It”, “ABC”, “I Want You Back”, “The Love You Save”, “I’ll Be There”, “Dancing Machine”, “Shake Your Body”,”The Way You Make Me Feel”, “Billie Jean”, “Beat It” and “You Rock My World” in front of an audience.

Backstage, Michael has an argument with Corey Feldman over his plans to write a book on their friendship. After the concert, Katherine, Rebbie & the Cascio family spend time with Michael in his hotel suite.

September 11 : After hearing of the terrorist attacks in New York , Michael leaves New York with Grace, Prince & Paris and the Cascios. They go at the Cascio family house in New Jersey. The Jackson family rides back to California in a bus.

September 16 : Michael annouces that he is going to record the song “What More Can I Give” with many artists for the victims of the terrorist attacks in New York . The song is produced by Marc Schaffel for Neverland Valley Entertainment.

September 17 : Michael speaks with Rolling Stone on his upcoming recording of “What More Can I Give” for 9/11 victims.

September 21 : The video for “You Rock My World” is premiered in Europe.

Michael records the song “You Are My Life” with John Mac Lain in Los Angeles and he likes it so much that he decides to add it at the last minute to the tracklist of “Invincible”!

Late September : Michael records a Spanish version of “What More Can I Give” titles “Todo Para Ti”.

October 01 : Michael meets Dr. William B. Van Valin II (whom he called Barney) in his medical office in Solvang. He invites Barney ans his son Mason to Neverland this night. They have dinner together with Prince & Paris then go to the arcade room, the movie theater ans the amusement park. For four years, until the end of the 2005 trial, this doctor and friend regularly shares the singer’s daily life, which he recounts in a book published in 2012, Private Conversation In Neverland with Michael Jackson.

October 09 : The single of “You Rock My World” is released in Europe and becomes a huge hit.

October 15 : While Quincy Jones is promoting his autobiography On the Oprah Show, Michael calls him on the phone to congratulate him.

Michael completes the recording of “What More Can I Give”. Many artists have recorded their parts including Justin Timberlake, Usher, Beyonce, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Ricky Martin, Aaron & Nick Carter, Luther Vandross, Boys 2 Men, Gloria Estefan ect…

October 16 : Sony releases special editions of Michael’s classic albums “Off The Wall”, “Thriller”, “Bad” & “Dangerous” with exclusive new materials (interview, demo & previously unreleased songs).

Michael films a scene for the movie Men In Black 2 directed by Barry Sonnefield where he plays Agent M.

October 17 : Debbie Rowe goes to the family court in Los Angeles to give up her parental rights on Prince & Paris because she says she has not seen them for a year and do not want to disturb them by making intrusions in their life once in a while.

October 21 : Michael is in Washington DC where he participates at a TV concert for the victims of September 11. He performs “Man In The Mirror” and at the end, he sings “What More Can I Give” with all the artists of the night (including Usher & Mariah Carey) Prince, Paris, Macauley Culkin, the Cascios, Kenny Ortega & Marc Schaffel attend the concert backstage. This concert is the last time Michael performs the song “Man In The Mirror” in front of an audience.

October 22 : Michael, Grace, Prince & Paris go to the Cascio family home in New Jersey where they stay until mid-december.

October 26 : Michael participates in an Online Audio Chat with his fans hosted by Yahoo & Get Music, sponsored by Rolling Stone. With music critic/writer Anthony DeCurtis, he answers questions from fans via telephone about the new album, the recording process and his music.

October 30 : Worldwide release of the album Invincible.

Michael is on the cover of TV Guide with an exclusive interview and pictures. In the interview, MJ talks about 9/11 : “I got a call from overseas that said America’s being attacked. I said, “What are you talking about?” They said, “Turn on the news.” And I couldn’t believe what I saw. And I screamed down the hallway, “Everybody, quick, get up, we’ve got to go.” And everybody got dressed, and we got in the car and drove farther out [from the city]. I was sick over the notoriety of the attacks. I don’t know if [television news] played it too many times, but we went from fear to hate to anger to vengeance. And I think the media had a lot to do with that.”

October 31 : On Hallowen night, Michael Prince & Paris go to Dr. William B. Van Valin II (Barney)’s home : “We went trick-or-treating all over Ballard [Ballard, where Dr. Van Valin lived, is a small town between Los Olivos and Solvang, just a few minutes from the Neverland Ranch], without stopping. The people who recognized Michael left him alone. But they pointed out to me the next day that they had seen me walking around town.”

November 7 : For the first time in his career, Michael makes an appearance at the Virgin megastore of Times Square in New York to promote and sign copies of Invincible. He is accompanied by Frank & Eddie Cascio + his make up artist Karen Faye. He also gives several interviews to the TV shows TRL (MTV), Entertainment Tonight (CBS) et 106 & Park (BET).

November 12 : Entertainment Tonight airs the first footage of the “What More Can I Give” video. The song is ready but Sony doesn’t want to release it. They also refuse to put commercials for Michael’s new album during the airing of his concert on CBS.

Michael is furious against Sony CEO, Tommy Mottola.

November 13 : CBS broadcasts an edited version of Michael’s concerts at the Madison Square Garden and gets great ratings.

December 3 : The single  “Cry” is released in Europe while Butterflies is played on US radios (with a remix featuring rap artist Eve). Michael does not appear in the video.

December 14 : Michael gives an interview to USA Today. Asked about “What More Can I Give”, MJ answers : “It’s not finished. We’re adding artists, and I’m getting myself satisfied with the instrumentation.”

December 17 : Michael makes a photoshoot with Prince & Paris at Neverland for an upcoming VIBE magazine coverstory with photographer Jonathan Exley. The same day he gives a long interview to Regina Jones.

December 19 : Michael attends the KIIS-FM Jingle Ball Concert in Los Angeles where Rick Dees & Magic Johnson present him the Legend Award.

December 24/25 : Michael celebrates Christmas at Neverland with the Cascios, the Bhattis, Prince & Paris.

Mid January : Michael leaves his townhouse in Manhattan and after a few days of vacation at Neverland, he resumes the recording sessions in Los Angeles with Bruce Swedien.

January 20 : Michael’s co-production credit for the planned “The Nightmares of Edgar Allan Poe” film is reported; Michael read the script in August, and plans to prepare for his leading role.

February : Michael visits “Stan Lee Media” headquarters in Beverly Hills, California, and is given a tour by Stan Lee, who talks with him about teaming up to buy Marvel.

February 13 : Michael hosts a party for Prince’s 3rd birthday at Neverland with family and friends including Macauley Culkin.

March : Michael stops the recording sessions and leaves for Europe with Grace, Prince & Paris. They spend time with the Chaplin family in Switzerland.

March 13 : Michael cancells a visit to Poland after talks about a theme park project he was involved in broke down. MJ wanted to build a theme park in the city since his first visit there in 1996, but difficulties in finding an appropriate site held up progress.

March 31 : Michael takes Prince & Paris to the Tierpark Hagenbeck Zoo in Hamburg, Germany. The visit takes place after the zoo had closed to the public, ensuring a private experience for the family. While in town they stay at the Schleiter family house with Anton & Frantcheska.

April 03 : Michael hosts a party for Paris 2nd birthday in Hamburg at the Schleiter family house.

May 7 : : Michael arrives in Zurich for a few days and stays at the The Dolder Grand hotel with his children Prince and Paris, at this five-star hotel located on the heights, on the shores of Lake Zurich.  Michael takes Prince & Paris to the famous Knie Circus in Zurich.

May 8 : Michael arrives in Monaco with Prince, Paris, Grace, Bob Jones, Karen Faye, Michael Bush & german business man Dieter Wiesner.

May 10 : Prince Albert of Monaco presents Michael with the Artist Of The Millenium Award at the very end of the World Music Awards ceremony in Monaco.

May 12 : Michael, Grace & the kids leave Monaco and go to London where they visit Mark Lester and his family.

May 26 : Michael escorts Dame Elizabeth Taylor to a tribute concert honoring her at the Royal Albert Hall in London. At the end of the concert, As Elizabeth takes a standing ovation, Michael walks onto the stage with a huge bouquet of white flowers. Joan Collins and other stars join Elizabeth and Michael on stage.

May 30 : Michael becomes a key investor and partner of HollywoodTicket.com Inc.

June : Michael & the kids go to Geneva, in Switzerland. They stay at the presidential suite on the third floor (central balcony) of the Hotel d’Angleterre, a five-star hotel located on the shores of Lake Geneva. Michael takes Prince & Paris to visit the Chaplin family at the manor of Ban, or the manor of the Champ de Ban estate, located in Corsier-sur-Vevey, a Swiss commune near Lake Geneva. The property is famous for being the residence of Charlie Chaplin for 25 years, from 1952 until his death in 1977.

Marcel Avram sue Michael for breach of contract of the Millenium Concerts and asks for $21 million.

July : Michael takes Prince & Paris to Disneyland Paris where they are joined by Omer Bhatti.

July 28 : Michael is spotted leaving the restaurant Planet Hollywood in Orlando, Florida.

July 29 : Michael takes the kids to the Siegfried & Roy magical show at the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas.

August 27 : Michael invites Rabby Schmuley Boteach & his family to spend one week at Neverland so they can work on their projects for the children (a book and a new foundation). The same day, he invites 10 year old cancer victim Gavin Arvizo & his family (his parents Janet & David, his brother Star & his sister Davellin). Gavin & Star ask him to sleep over in his room, Michael offer them his bed and sleeps on the floor with Frank Cascio.

August 29 : The Arvizo and Boteach kids arrange a small party for Michael 42nd birthday at Neverland with the Cascios, Prince & Paris.

Early September : Michael resumes recording sessions on his new album in L.A and asks Teddy Riley to work with him.

September 30 : Michael sells his merchandising rights to Dieter Wiesner who creates MJ NET Entertainment.

October : Jermaine Jackson lends his voice and participation to official fundraising project of the Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games 3Wave To The World3 project. The music video of the song “The Spirit of Life” features various artists including Jermaine and his family members, including Rebbie and Michael, and Is shown during commercials to promote the message of the Paralympic athletes to the world.

October 07 : Alejandra gives birth to Jermajesty and takes him home to Hayvenhurst to live with Genevieve, Randy Jr, Donte, Jaafar, Jermaine, Katherine & Joe.

October 28 : Michael & Elizabeth Taylor attend the Carousel Of Hope charity gala at the Hilton Hotel of Beverly Hills.

October 29 : Michael shops at “Recycled Records” record shop in San Francisco, California after-hours.

November : Michael, Frank, Grace & the kids go back to NYC and check in the Four Seasons Hotel.

Mid-Late November : Michael does a photoshoot for his Invincible album cover early, at 5AM, in order to attend a peace conference between Shmuley Boteach’s eldest daughter and her school bully’s parents.

November 20 : Michael attends Schmuley Boteach birthday party at his home in the New Jersey .

November 21 : Michael presents six songs from his new album to Sony Music excecutives in New York.

In the evening MJ attends the launching of his new foundation “Heal The Kids” with Shmuley Boteach & Frank Cascio at the Fifth Avenue home of public relations guru Howard Rubenstein. During this evening, Michael is introduced to James Meiskin who will soon assist Michael with affairs pertaining to Real Estate and attempting to help Michael with getting his financial affairs back in order.

November 25 : Michael & the kids spend Thanksgiving dinner at Shmuley Boteach home in New Jersey .

November 30 : Michael attends the G & P Foundation’s ‘Angel Ball’ benefit gala for cancer research at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City with Schmuley Boteach and Denise Rich. Two members of boy band N-Sync, Lance Bass and JC Chasez, introduce him onto stage. MJ is presented with an award for his work fighting cancer from the G&P Foundation. During the event, Michael poses for pictures with President Clinton, Elie Wiesel and Professor Stanley Greenspan.

December : As MJJ Productions offices on Sunset boulevard are closed, MJ Team included Bob Jones and Evvy Tavasci now work from their home.

December 2 : Michael attends Tommy Mottola’s wedding at the Saint Patrick’s Cathedral in New York.

December 19 : Michael makes an appearance on the stage of the Madison Square Garden in New York at the end of the charity concert Miracle On the 34th Street and hugs Whitney Houston & Destiny’s Child.

December 24/25 : Michael, Grace & the kids celebrate Christmas at the Cascio family home in Franlin Lake in New Jersey.

January 13 : The Japonese pop group J-Friends releases the single “People Of The World” written and composed by Michael.

January 14 : Michael signs a four-concert deal that includes two December 31 millenium concerts: one in Sydney and, a speed jet ride later, one in Honolulu. Mama Concerts & Rau promoter Marcel Avram ultimately sues him on June 16, 2000 for not having two of the four mentioned concerts.

Michael arrives in Johannesburg, South Africa, with Prince, Paris & their nanny Grace Rwaramba. They go to Sun City.

January 15 : Michael travels to Sandton, a suburb of Johannesburg where the Cohen family resides, to attend the Bar Mitzvah of Dean Cohen, the eldest of the children. Dressed in a red military-style jacket, Michael surprises all the guests upon his arrival, accompanied by his children, Prince and Paris, and surrounded by bodyguards. After the ceremony, and as his children are escorted back to the hotel, Michael also attends the party held in honor of young Cohen. “He danced the hora and other traditional dances, shook hands with all the children, and signed autographs,” recalls a guest.

January 26 : On his way back home from South Africa, Michael stops by an hospital in Miami to be treated for a small fracture to his right wright.

January 28 : Michael takes Prince to the emergency room of the Cedars Sinai Medical Center of Los Angeles because of a viral infection.

February 12 : After 13 years of relationship and 8 years of marriage, Janet & Rene decide to split and soon file for divorce. Janet leaves their Malibu beach house.

February  13 :  Michael hosts a party at Neverland for Prince’s second birthday with Paris, Grace, Pia & Omer.

February 21 : Michael, Dr Freeze and Brad Buxer work on “A Place With No Name” at Record One.

Michael asks Carole Bayer Sager to work on his new album and she introduces him to Rodney Jerkins.

Rodney, his brother Fred and friend LaShawn Daniel (the Darkchild Team) join the MJ Team at Record One and start working on songs for MJ.

February 24 : Michael invites the Top Epic Records Executives (Cory Rooney, Tommy Mottola, John Doelp, Dave Glew & Polly Anthony) to the Marvin’s Room in Hollywood for a listening session and he plays only one song : “Break Of Dawn” produced by Dr Freeze.

February 27 : Michael attends Elizabeth Taylor’s birthday celebration at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas with Dr Arnold Klein. He presents Elizabeth with a football-size elephant handbag covered in jewels, inspired by Gipsy.

Mid March : Michael goes back to Sun City .

March 20 : Michael goes to Munich to announce the Michael Jackson & Friends Benefit Concerts during the German TV Show Wetten Dass.

March 23 : Michael visits Nelson Mandela’s Cape Town residence where he gives a press conference to announce two charity concerts entitled “Michael Jackson & Friends – The Adventure of Humanity.”; one in Seoul, and one in Munich. He says the theme of the shows are “What More Can I Give”, a song he is working on at the time.

While in South Africa he visits Sun City.

Late March : Michael, Prince, Paris and Grace check in the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City.

Michael starts working on new songs at the Hit Factory with Cory Rooney (“She Was Lonving Me”) and the Darkchild Team.

April : Elizabeth Taylors makes a photoshoot at Neverland for Talk Magazine. She talks about Michael in the interview. Michael talks about Elizabeth in a phone interview to the reporter Paul Theroux (the issue is released in October 1999).

April 03 : Michael hosts a party for Paris 1st birthday at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City.

April 10 : Michael arrives in London to spend the week end in London with Mohamed Al Fayed. He visits the  Craven Cottage Football Ground in London.

April 11 : Michael makes a surprise visit to Liberty Radio, a radio station owned by Mohammed Al Fayed. He gives an interview discussing his visit to Fulham Football Club with owner Mohammed Al Fayed, Elizabeth Taylor, collaborating with his brothers and 3T and his future plans.

At night, he spends one hour speaking to his fans outside Al Fayed’s apartment on Park Lane in London. Michael talks about the “immortalising work” he wants to do in films and explains he’s now channelling his efforts more towards this type of project.

April 12 : In the office of Harrods in London, Michael gives an interview to Piers Morgan for UK tabloid Daily Mirror. The interview is published front page on April 13 + April 14. In the interview Michael talks about new music : ‘I’m right in the middle of the album. I’m half way through and it’s just a calvacade of wonderful songs and I’m putting everything I have into it. I’m putting my heart into it because I’m not sure if I’m going to really really do it again. This may be my last one as far as an album. I may do – the next is doing soundtrack albums. Soundtracks and films but not just straight out pop albums. I want to touch the world. I want to touch the heart, the emotion of the entire world and every demographic from a child to older people, from the farmer in Ireland to the lady who scrubs toilets in Harlem, I mean I want to reach every demographic I can, through the love and joy and the simplicity of music.

During the interview, MJ reveals that he is working on a new charity song to help the the crisis in Yugoslavia : “I wrote a song What More Can I Give that I want to put all the stars together and if I could do it here in Britain it would be great. Maybe I should do it in Britain. I wrote it and I want to give the proceeds to the families of Yugoslavia. Maybe I should do it here instead of America and get all your celebrities in England and if the Americans want to fly down too. One of the things I didn’t like about “We are the World” song that I wrote was I didn’t like the idea “USA for Africa” it was like it was discriminating the rest of the world. I asked for the Bee Gees and I asked for other groups and they said “they weren’t born here” I said “I don’t care! I just want the world to show that they care”. I mean I am not into politics and I don’t talk about religion and politics but I think it’s totally ignorant and it’s wrong to hurt people, to hurt innocent children over some political issue? I think its genocide; I think it’s wrong. Ethnic cleansing? It’s ignorant, it’s stupid.”

April 12-14 : Michael stops by Paris before going back to London.

April 26 : Michael gives an interviews on a 4AM phone call with Paul Theroux, discussing Elizabeth Taylor, fame and isolation, hobbies, his childhood, and his children.

May 1 : Michael attends the Bollywood Movie Award held at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in New York. He is dressed in a black Indian suit designed by Manish Malhotra. He accepts a special “Humanitarian Award” from London-based industrialist S.P. Hinduja for his role in promoting the cause of global peace.

May 10 : Michael attends a private screening of “Matrix” movie in Manhattan .

May 17 : In NYC Michael attends a private screening of “Star Wars Episode 1” in Manhattan with Prince and magician Uri Geller.

May 28 : A special presentation of the song ‘Seeing Voices’, sung by Michael, is unveiled at the Ventura Club in Sherman Oaks, California by Sidney Fine. The event is filmed by Michael’s personal cameraman, but he does not appear at the event.

June 1 : Due to Prince’s sickness, Michael cancels his participation in the Pavarotti And Friends Charity Concert in Modena.

June 9 : Michael is in Munich with Prince, Paris and Grace to hold a press conference for Michael Jackson And Friends.

June 10 : They stop by Paris.

June 11 : They stop by New York where Michael meets Sony executives.

June 12 : Michael purchases director David O. Selznick’s “Best Picture” Oscar award for “Gone With The Wind” at a Sotheby’s New York auction over the phone through an agent, paying $1,542,500, a record sum for Hollywood memorabilia.

June 13-20 : Michael rehearses for the concerts in Los Angeles.

June 21 : Michael arrives in Seoul with Grace and the kids.

Frank Cascio becomes Michael’s new personal assistant and he flies from NYC to Seoul.
Wayne Nagin becomes Michael’s manager and his brother Skipper new head of security.
Myung-Ho Lee becomes Michael’s new financial manager.

June 22 : Michael invites about twenty children from an orphanage in Namsan to spend the day with him. They have lunch together at his hotel, and in the early afternoon, Michael decides to do some shopping. So, accompanied by the children, he goes by bus to the Gangnam Tower store. In the afternoon, the King of Pop is at Everland Park, where he had the opportunity to visit the previous year. This time, he is not there as a tourist but as a guest of honor. Surrounded by the park’s mascots, he attends a reception where he inaugurates a copper plaque bearing one of his messages, in the Victoria Theater of the park and an imprint of his hand. Michael declares, “I really love Korea, and I will continue to love it in the future”. He then attends, in the Rose Garden of the park (now called the Four Seasons Garden, located in the European Adventure section), alongside children with disabilities, a children’s choir, and a traditional music performance. Between performances, he shows care and attention to the young disabled children.

June 23 : Michael leaves his hotel to go to the Hyundai Department Store, a shopping center, in Apgujeong-dong, in the Gangnam district, south of Seoul. Around 5 pm, he goes to the Bennigan’s restaurant in Dogok-Dong, an affluent neighborhood in the Gangnam district. He will spend the evening with about fifteen children suffering from leukemia.

June 24 : Michael visits the U.S. Army base in Seoul to support the soldiers. He meets with base officials and signs autographs for the troops. This is the Eighth Army, a U.S. field army that commands all U.S. military forces in South Korea. In 1999, its headquarters was at Yongsan Garrison, in the district of the same name, in central Seoul. It has since relocated to Camp Humphreys, about ninety kilometers from Seoul. After taking some photos and signing autographs, Michael decides to make an impromptu visit to Lotte World Adventure with Franck Cascio. This leisure complex opened in 1989 and is located near Jamsil Olympic Stadium, south of the Han River.

Michael rehearses his performance for MJ & Friends in Seoul including the song “She’s Out Of My Life” cut from the final setlist. When he returns to the hotel, Michael joins the artists who will participate in the concert the next evening for a private gathering organized in one of the lounges at the Shilla Hotel.

June 25 : Michael performs performs at Chamsil Olympic Stadium in Seoul, Korea, for his “Michael Jackson & Friends” charity concert. He also speaks of Korea and its president at the time. He performs a medley (Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough”/”The Way You Make Me Feel”/”Scream”/”Beat It”/”Black or White”/”Billie Jean”), “Dangerous”, “Earth Song”, and “You Are Not Alone”. The concert is broadcasted live on Koean TV. Backstage he spends time with Boys 2 Men and Mariah Carey.

June 26 : Michael, Frank, Grace and the kids arrive in Munich, Germany.

June 27 : Michael performs his second concert in Munich . During Earth Song, a technical problem occurs and the central section of The Bridge Of No Return collapses which hurts Michael’s feet and back (he’s taken to the hospital after the show). The show is broadcasted live on German TV.

This concert is the last time Michael ever performed the songs “You Are Not Alone” and “Earth Song” in front of live audience.

June 29 : Michael, Frank, Prince, Paris and  Grace arrive in Paris and check in the Plaza Athenée Hotel.

June 30 : Michael and his friends go to see the Matrix movie on the Champs Elysées.

July 1 : Michael goes shopping at La Samaritaine in Paris with Anton and Franziska Schleiter.

July 3-4 : In the Studios Duran Duboi in Issy les Moulineaux, a commune in the southwestern suburban area of Paris, Michael makes a top secret photoshoot with French photograph Arnaud Bani, his make up artist Karen Faye and stylist Michael Bush.

July 5-13 : Michael Grace and the kids stay at Disneyland Paris where they are joined by Debbie & Anton Schleiter, Omer Bhatti and the Cascios kids.

July 14-24 : Michael and his entourage go to Sun City. Dominic and Connie Cascio join them.

July 18 : Michael attends Nelson Mandela’s 81st Birthday in Johannesburg, South Africa.

July 25-27 : Michael and his entourage go to London where Michael meets Mohamed Al Fayed and Prince Naseem.

July 28 : Michael, Frank, Grace and the kids fly back to L.A.

Early August : After a few days at Neverland, Michael resumes the recording sessions of his new album in New York City . He moves into a beautiful Townhouse on the Upper East Side with Grace, the kids and Frank. The mansion is situated at 4 East 74th Street. It was built in 1898 when architect Alexander Welch was commissioned to design the Beaux-Arts townhouse. Welch served as the consulting architect on the restorations of Alexander Hamilton’s Harlem home Hamilton Grange and George Washington’s headquarters in White Plains.

Rabbi Scmuley Boteach pays a visite to Michael at this townhouse and they soon become friends.

August 15 : The Dalai Lama grants an audience to Michael Jackson. It is the first meeting between The Dalai and Michael. The meeting takes place at the Mark Hotel in NYC. The Dalai Lama and Michael speak for about 20 minutes.

August 29 : Michael is back at Neverland to celebrate his birthday with Grace, Prince, Paris, the Cascios & the Bhattis.

Michael decides to cancel the Millenium concerts due to take place in Hawaii & Seoul on the 31st of December.

September 04 : Michael goes to Sun City with Grace, the Prince, Paris and the Cascios. He accepts a Lifetime Achievement award and presents a 165 000 dollars cheque to Nelson Mandela during the Kora All African Awards.

September 5 : Michael visits Danie de Jager again in his Hartbeespoort studio with Prince & Paris. Later that day, Michael and his children are invited on a yacht with the De Jager couple. A few minutes’ drive from the sculptor’s studio, in Schoemansville, the company Waterfront No. 1 offers cruises on the luxurious catamaran De Jagter, anchored in the waters of the dam. The Cascio children and Omer Bhatti are also present that day.

September 9 : Michael & Elizabeth Taylor speak about their close friendship in Talk magazine.

September 11-14 : Michael is in Disneyland Paris with Grace, Prince, Paris, Omer and the Cascios. Debbie joins them from Los Angeles.

Late November : To celebrate Thriller as the best video ever, Michael graces the cover of TV Guide (issue dated December 4, 1999) with an exclusive photoshoot + an interview given recently in a New York hotel. In the interview Michael talks about his new album : “I have a couple of things planned. I think it’s going to be totally different from what I did before. There’s a song on the new album called “I Have This Dream.” It’s a millennium song about the world and the environment that I cowrote with Carole Bayer Sager and David Foster.” MJ also talks about Lisa Marie : “Lisa’s sweet. I like her very much, and we are friends. And who knows what tomorrow brings? I have no idea how she feels today. I’ll just say that. She comes to my house and sees the children, and we talk on the phone, that sort of thing.”

December 4 : Michael attends Whitney Houston ‘s Fund Raising Event at the Marriott Marquis hotel in New York with his old friend Gregory Peck.

Her chef Ricardo informs her that Michael is at the hotel. She goes up to his room. April : The Sun reports that Michael and Pavarotti had written a song together called, “All I Can Give” which they planned to release in October 1998 after a concert in South Korea. The song is believed to have been confused with the song Michael wrote called “What More Can I Give”.

May 15 : Michael holds a press conference in Beverly Hills to announce a series of benefit concerts for the World Peace Foundation For Children. The first concert will take place in Seoul on October 11 with Luciano Pavarotti and Elizabeth Taylor, and the funds will be intended for families and children affected by the floods that devastated North Korea in 1995. The concert is planned at the Jamsil Olympic Stadium (where the HIStory Tour concerts took place), but the star still hopes to perform in the demilitarized zone.

August 3 : Michael arrives in Detroit, Michigan early in the afternoon to urge city residents to vote for his Majestic Kingdom entertainment complex project with Don Barden.

August 4 : Michael and Stevie Wonder visit the Motown Museum in Detroit with Berry Gordy’s sister Ester Edwards. As they leave the Museum, it is announced that the project has been rejected, receiving only 44 % of the votes against the 56 % obtained by the Mayor of Detroit. They go back to California.

November 16 : Michael visits Harare, the capital of Zimbabwe, in Southern Africa. While in Town, he meets the presidential couple Robert et Grace Mugabe.

November 19 : The return to Johannesburg is made by private jet. Roslyn Cohen explains: “[The photo as we got off the plane] is one of my favorite pictures with Michael. Michael attends the birth and then takes his son to Neverland. Grace Rwaramba and Pia Bhatti are hired as Prince’s nannies and they both move to Neverland. Pia moves to Neverland with her husband and their kids Shasta & Omer.

February 15 : Michael rehearses for Elizabeth Taylor tribute.

February 16 : Michael attends “Happy Birthday, Elizabeth Taylor: A Celebration of Life” gala held at the Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles. He arrives on the red carpet with Elizabeth and they pose for pictures. For the occasion he performs a song that he just recorded in Montreux called “Elizabeth I Love You” and gets a standing ovation by the galaxy of stars attending the event. The show is filmed and airs on February 27, 1997 on ABC.

Late February : Michael hosts a Jackson Family Day at Neverland to introduce Prince to the clan. Janet who is in studio in Minneapolis can’t attend the party. LaToya is not invited.

March : Michael arrives in Paris with Grace & Prince. They stay between the Royal Monceau hotel and a private apartment in L’Hôtel Fouquet’s Barrière, then called the Carré d’Or. The private residence is now a luxury hotel adjacent to the famous Fouquet’s restaurant on the Champs Elysées.

The BOTDF single is released. The song becomes a top ten hit in almost every European Union state. “Blood on the Dance Floor” peaks at number one in the UK, Spain and New Zealand, charting for 11 weeks in the latter two nations.

March 25 : British magazine OK gets a world exclusive by publishing the first ever official pictures of Michael & Debbie with their son Prince accompanied by a candid interview of the couple. The photoshoot took place earlier this month at Neverland with photographer John Isaac.

Around 10 a.m, Pascal Perrault, the owner of the King Kong store, is surprised to see two bodyguards entering his shop from a car, followed by a man with his face wrapped in an orange veil, his eyes hidden behind black glasses. Once inside, the man takes off his glasses; it is Michael Jackson, who came to buy a toy for his young son, Prince, who stayed at the hotel in Cannes!

July 01 : Michael, still considering buying a castle in France to settle there (he had already visited the Château de Pierrefonds a year earlier), arrives at the Château du Champ de Bataille in the late afternoon, accompanied by Debbie Rowe, and Elisabeth Dauchy (whom Michael called Isabelle), the president of a large French investment company. Located in the heart of the Norman countryside, in the Eure department, near Le Neubourg, about 115 kilometers from Paris, the château owes its name, according to the most common legend, to a great battle that took place on the site in 935, which secured the independence of Normandy.

The film was never released due to MJ being unimpressed by his vocals brought on by laryngitis. In 2010, TV channels such as RTL 5, ZDF, WOWOW, and Veronica TV broadcast the Munich concert in HD, and those broadcasts can be found on YouTube. This broadcast contains footage mostly from the Munich July 6th show, but it has some snippets from the first Munich show (July 4th) and a large snippet of the Leipzig show (August 3rd) during the Jackson 5 Medley speech.

July 09 : Michael attends the Variety Club Sunshine Coach charity event, where he donated six minibuses equipped to help children with autism & severe learning difficulties. Michael and his entourage stay in Sun City. Sun City is a luxury resort and casino, situated in the North West Province of South Africa. It is located between the Elands River and the Pilanesberg, about 140 km (90 miles) northwest of Johannesburg, near the city of Rustenburg. The complex borders the Pilanesberg National Park. It is made up of a number of themed sub-resorts with hotels on each, including the original Sun City Resort, The Cabanas, The Cascades and the Lost City (The Palace).

While in Sun City, Michael meets Philip et Roslyn Cohen and their two sons. The beginning of a lifelong friendship.

November 18 : Michael arrives in Seoul, South Korea but he does not stay in the Korean capital. He heads to the Muju Ski Resort in the central part of the country. The Muju Deogyusan Ski Resort is a renowned mountain resort nestled within the Deogyusan Mountain National Park in the North Jeolla Province (Jeollabuk-do), approximately three hundred kilometers south of Seoul. Michael and Kingdom Entertainment, the entertainment company he created in 1996 with Prince Al-Waleed, are reportedly interested in acquiring the station and transforming it into an amusement park

November 21 : back in Seoul, Michael holds a press conference alongside presidential candidate Kim Dae-Jung. The meeting, lasting about thirty minutes, takes place at the offices of Kim Dae-Jung’s Asia Pacific Peace Foundation, which the Korean politician founded in 1994. After answering questions, the two men exchange gifts. Kim Dae-Jung presents Michael with a calligraphy piece created in his presence (the meaning of which is unknown). In a video conference room at the Shilla Hotel in Seoul, the two men also participate in a satellite interview with George Soros, an American-Hungarian philanthropist, and Mickey Kantor, former U.S. Trade Representative, aiming to support the Korean politician’s candidacy. Michael stated, “Korea is a warm country, full of love, sincerity, and complete innocence.”

November 22 : Still with the idea of investing and creating his theme park, Michael visits Jeju Island in the south of the country. The island is located in the Sea of Japan, specifically at the western end of the Korea Strait, eighty-three kilometers from the Korean Peninsula.

November 23 : Michael flies back to Los Angeles.

November 25 : Debbie Rowe gives an interview to KNBC filmed at Neverland where she denies tabloid rumors of an affair between Michael & Lisa Marie & announces that she is pregnant with a baby girl that she & Michael want to name Paris Michael Katherine. In the interview, we can see Michael and Prince at Neverland.

Late November : Michael goes in a Los Angeles studio to record the song Children’s Holiday for Japonese group J-Friends.

Michael & Prince Michael Jr are on the cover of LIFE magazine. The photoshoot took place recently at Neverland with photographer Harry Benson. In the interview Michael speaks about Lisa Marie : “But there is one subject to which Michael repeatedly returns during four hours of conversation and picture-taking: Lisa Marie Presley. Michael’s voice quickens, even quavers, when he speaks of Lisa Marie. How she enjoys the baby. How they are still close after an amicable divorce. How they frolicked overseas the month before. He seems to pine for her. “Lisa Marie was just with me in Africa,” Michael says. “We (went to) IMAX theaters, simulated-ride safaris, dinner. We went parasailing. It was wonderful.” Even Debbie has acknowledged that Michael is still smitten. “He cares about her very much, but it didn’t work out and he was devastated,” she has said. “He loved her very much. Still does.” When asked if Lisa Marie has ever expressed second thoughts about not having been the one to bear his son, Michael insists, “She regrets it. She said so.” Would she still consider having a kid with him? “She’d like to, yes,” he says putting a mischievous finger to his lips. “Shh.” And there, on one nightstand, rests a framed photograph of Lisa Marie. A picture of Elvis and is little girl, then only five years old.” This is the age,” Michael says, “when I first met Lisa Marie. When her father first came to my concerts. I’ve known her ever since.”

December : Sony cancels the release of History’s last single “Smile” at the last minute.

A box set is released in Europe containing the “Ghost” short film on VHS + the unreleased song “On The Line” from the Spike Lee movie soundtrack “Get On The Bus”.

Tarak Ben Amar decides to part ways with Michael.

December 17 : Michael visits british boxer Prince Naseem at a gymnasium in New York. While in New York , he meets Puff Daddy to speak of a possible collaboration together.

December 20 : Enid Spann Jackson, Jackie’s ex wife and mother of their children Siggy & Brandi tragically dies of a brain aneurysm in a movie theater bahhroom. The Jackson family gather at Hayvenhurst to support Siggy & brandi.

December 24/25 : Michael celebrates Christmas at Neverland with Grace, Prince, the Cascios & the Bhattis. Debbie Rowe, who is five months pregnant, visits them

December 31 : Michael writes a letter to Kim Dae-jung to congratulate him on his election. In the letter he writes : “”For my part, I plan to include a Korean singer in my new “What More Can I Give” recording which will be the theme song of my Benefit Concertto help the children of North Korea. I think such a participation of a Korean singer will help restore the pride of the people of Korea”.

January : Katherine, Joe, Jermaine, Alejandra, Genevieve, Donte & Randy Jr move back into a renovated Hayvenhurst.

Michael’s nurse & friend Debbie Rowe offers him to bear his child. She gets pregnant but has a miscarriage.

January 9 : Michael is in NYC to shoot the short film for “They Don’t Care About Us” directed by Spike Lee.

January 18 : Lisa Marie officially files for divorce. In her petition she notes the date of seperation as December 10, 1995. Michael’s spokesman states that they remain friends.

January 25 : Michael goes to Motown Café in New York with his make up artist & friend Karen Faye.

Late January : LaToya reacts on Michael’s divorce on TV saying this mariage was an arrangment.

Live from London to NYC, LaToya gives an interview on the Rolonda Watts talk show. Once again, she accuses MJ saying he is “paying little boys”.

February 9 : Michael arrives at the airport in Salvador, in Brazil, accompanied by the Cascio kids.

February 10 : Michael films a second version of the “They Don’t Care About Us” short film directed by Spike Lee in Largo do Pelourinho, Salvador de Bahia. It’s in the city’s listed historic centre, more specifically in Largo do Pelourinho, that Michael Jackson choses to film the scenes in which he appears alongside Olodum, a group from the neighbourhood.

March : Michael starts working on a new short film named “Ghost” for the song “2 Bad”, directed by Stan Winston and co-written by Stephen King. This project is based on the “Is This Scary” project that was scrapped in 1993 because of the Chandler scandal.

Debbie Rowe, pregnant with Michael’s child suffers a miscarriage. Michael is devastated but they decide to try again.

March 01 : Michael gives a three hour long videotaped deposition at the Four Seasons Hotel in New York City as part of a lawsuit filed by five Neverland employees against Michael for wrongful dismissal.

March 14-20 : Michael is in Paris to visit castles. He stays at the Disneyland Hotel and at the George 5 Hotel.

March 19 : Michael gives a press conference at the Palais des Congrès in Paris to announce the launch of Kingdom Entertainment, a Paris based multimedia corporation jointly owned with Saudi Prince Al Walid.

The same day, Michael tapes a thank you video for his French fan-club Black & White magazine.

Michael hires Tarak Ben Amar as his new manager.

Spring : On the occasion of Michael’s visit to Munich in Germant, Wayne Nagin arranges a business meeting between Michael and German businessman Dieter Wiesner at the Bayerischer Hof Hotel. During the meeting, Dieter introduces his beverage, Mystery Drink to Michael. Over the course of their three-hour meeting, Michael asks Dieter to join him on the HIStory World Tour. Dieter would go on to become one of Michael’s closest associates until December 2003.

March 31 : They Don’t Care About Us” is released as the 4th single from “History”.

April : Michael starts filming the “Ghost” short film in Van Nuys studios (California). During breaks, he visits his family at Hayvenhurst disguised as the “Mayor”.

The two versions of “They Don’t Care About Us” short film are premiered. The controversial imagery and lyrics of “They Don’t Care About Us” prevented the “prison version” of the short film from airing during primetime music video programming hours. It was not released to home video until 2010, when it was included as a bonus feature on Michael Jackson’s Vision.

April 16 : “They Don’t Care About Us” is released in the US as the fifth single from his ninth album, HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book I. It peaks at number 30 on Hot 100 Billboard.

April 28 : Michael attends the play “Sisterella” which he produced at the Pasadena Playhouse in Pasadena, California with Debbie Rowe.

May : Debbie Rowe visits Michael on the set of the “Ghosts” short film and announces that she’s pregnant with their baby.

May 3 : Afraid that Jack Gordon wants to book her in a porn film, LaToya calls Randy and asks him to rescue her. Randy immediately catches a plane with his cousin Tony and they take LaToya from her New York hotel straight to her Las Vegas home. There, LaToya is treated for bruises and she files for divorce ans asks a restraining order to protect her from Jack Gordon. In the following days/weeks/months, LaToya slowly reconnects with the family starting with Randy, Jermaine & Joe and she speaks to Katherine on the phone.

May 07 : Michael makes a break in the Ghost shooting and goes to Monaco.

May 8 : Michael attends the World Music Awards in Monaco . He performs “Earth Song” and wins 5 awards. At the end of the ceremony he gets on stage to hug Diana Ross who’s performing. He also addresses the controversy over “They Don’t Care About Us” claiming to never have been anti-Semitic.

May 11 : Michael visits the amusement park Fantasialand near Cologne in Germany with Anton Schleiter.

May 12 : Michael visits Evolutions Recording Studio in London to touch up his World Music Awards performance with the show’s producer Gary Pudney.

May 13 : Michael arrives in Paris, France.

May 14 : Michael visits the Pierrefonds Castle, located approximately 90 kilometers north of Paris, in the Oise department, on the outskirts of the Compiègne Forest. Michael is fascinated by the model of the castle, located at the end of the guard room. Created in 1878 for the Universal Exhibition, this 1/50 scale stone model remains impressive (height: 145 cm, width: 250 cm, length: 350 cm). Michael’s bodyguards reportedly took many photos, and it is said that the star asked for the plans of the model. What is certain is that Michael Jackson had a model of the castle made for his Neverland Ranch. It measured 269 cm x 335 cm x 365 cm. Slightly larger than the model at the castle, Michael’s model stood in the middle of his living room, with, for a time, a framed photo of the castle on the wall.

May 15 : Michael flies back from Paris to Los Angeles to resume work on the Ghost short film.

June 7 : Evan Chandler sues Jackson for around $60 million, claiming Jackson had breached an agreement never to discuss the case “in his interview with Diane Sawyer and in the lyrics of a song from the HIStory album”. In 1998, at age 18, Jordan files a complaint against Jackson for the same reason.The arbitrations are consolidated. In 1999, a court rules in Jackson’s favor and threw out the lawsuit.

June 24 : People magazine publishes a picture of Steven Spielberg visiting Michael on the set of Ghosts.

Early July : In Van Nuys, Michael shoots the videos for “Stranger In Moscow” (directed by Nick Brandt) & “Why” (with the 3T).

July 16 : For the Sultan’s birthday celebrations, Michael performs his first ever free concert before 60 000 people at the Jerudong Amusement Park in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei. The concert is taped and eventually offered to the people of Brunei.This concert is the last time Michael performs the songs “Jam” “Human Nature”, “I Just Can’t Stop Loving You” and “She’s Out of My Life” in front of an audience.

July 18 : Michael arrives in Johannesburg, South Africa. He visits the sprawling Soweto township to place a wreath in memory of children who lost their lives in the 1976 Soweto uprising. Later, he attends a private birthday party for President Nelson Mandela.

Michael meets Danie de Jager, a contemporary South African sculptor whose works focus on personalities, historical events, commemorative pieces, or were related to South African wildlife. In Holland , Michael launches his own soft drink named Mystery with help from german business man Dieter Wiesner that was introduced to Michael by his longtime bodyguard Wayne Nagin.

October 3 : Michael visits the newly opened Ronald McDonald House units, which hosts sick children and their parents near the VU University Medical Center. Michael meets the children and bring them gifts. He is also presented with a symbolic key to one of the rooms.

October 4 : Michael leaves Amsterdam and takes a flight to London. He is in London to complete work on the soundtrack for the “Ghosts” Short film. Michael attends a performance of “Oliver” at the London Palladium.

October 6 : Michael arrives in Tunis, Tunisia where he is welcomed by hundreds of fans. While at his hotel, Michael meets and befriends Omer Bhatti, a young Norwegian fan that he decides to take on tour with him. Omer and his family will remain very close to Michael until his death in 2009.

October 7 : Michael performs a historic concert at El Menzah Stadium before 60 000 people in Tunis, capital of Tunisia. The performance marks the first time MJ performs in the continent of Africa.

October 8 : The day after his concert in Tunis (Tunisia), Michael and Omer Bhatti visit the Ennejma Ezzahra palace in Sidi Bou Saïd, a village about twenty kilometers northeast of Tunis.

October 9 : In the late morning, Michael, accompanied by Omer Bhatti, lands at Gimpo International Airport, at that time the only airport in Seoul, Korea greeted by numerous fans, as usual. Over a thousand security personnel were dispatched to ensure the safety of the star and the fans and surround the small welcoming ceremony that took place in front of the airport exit. He received a bouquet of flowers and uttered a simple “I love you, thank you” into the microphone reserved for him, under the lenses of a row of paparazzi. Michael checks in the Sheraton Walkerhill Hotel in Seoul. In the evening, a welcome dinner is organized at the Walkerhill Hotel. The King of Pop accompanied the children’s choir, dressed in hanbok, traditional costumes, who performed “Heal The World” and delivered a short speech. Omer Bhatti is by his side.

October 10 : A little before 4 p.m., still accompanied by Omer Bhatti, Michael leaves the hotel, awaited by fans and staff. His white van takes him to the Children’s Grand Park, just a few minutes from the hotel. Later, Michael visits Song Jook Orphanage in Seoul, South Korea. In the evening, the Pop star is invited to leave his handprints and autograph for the Tower Records music store. It appears to be Gangman Tower Records, which was located near Gangnam Station.

January : Victor Gutierrez, serves as a primary source for a segment Diane Dimond runs on MJ in which she falsely reports that there was tape of Jackson sexually abusing a young boy Gutierrez claimed was one of Jackson’s nephews. This new controversy leads to MJ sue both Dimond and Gutierrez for the false claims.While Dimond iss able to get out of the lawsuit due to her status as a journalist who was just simply “reporting what she had been told,” in 1996 MJ successfully wins his lawsuit against Gutierrez, who never produced any evidence of having this so-called tape in his possession.

Mid-August : Michael shoots the video for Earth Song directed by Nicholas Brandt. The video Is filmed in four geographic regions (Americas, Europe and Africa). The first location was the Amazon Rainforest, where a large part was destroyed a week after the video’s completion. Natives of the region appeared in the video and were not actors. The second scene was a war zone in Karlovac, Croatia, with famous Serbian actor Slobodan Dimitrijević and the residents of the area. The third location was Tanzania, which incorporated scenes of illegal poaching and hunting into the video. No animals were harmed in the making of the “Earth Song”, as the footage came from documentary archives. The final location was in Warwick, New York, where a safe forest fire was simulated in a corn field.

August 15 :“You Are Not Alone” is released as the 2nd single from “History”. Commercially, “You Are Not Alone” remains one of Michael”s best selling singles and it is also his 13th number one song. It holds the Guinness World Record for the first song ever to debut at number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

August 17 : Michael chats with his fans via The Sony Music Internet at the Museum of Television and Radio in Manhattan. He spends 70 minutes answering over 100 questions about his career, music, and life. More than 25,000 fans worldwide tune in to watch the event.

Mid November : Michael starts reheasing for his upcoming HBO Special at Sony Studios in New York City with executive producer Jeff Margolis and several chroreographers (Jamie King, Barry Lather, Kenny Ortega, Travys Payne, Lavelle Smith Jr, Debbie Allen). Brab Buxer is the musical director and Michael Bush creates the costumes.

First day of dress rehearlsals at the Beacon Theatre : “We were at the Beacon for a total of about seven days. By the time we got the set in, and lit, and got all the technical equipment in. I think we rehearsed on the stage for four days, and Michael wasn’t there the first day as it was mostly a dance rehearsal for the dancers to find their spacing on the stage. December 4 : Second day of dress rehearlsals at the Beacon Theatre. Michael is rehearsing his “Childhood” performance at the Beacon Theatre with French artist Mime Marceau and they welcome the press.

December 5 : Third day of dress rehearlsals at the Beacon Theatre.

December 6 : Fouth day of dress rehearlsals at the Beacon Theatre. Just before 5 P.M, during the second of several planned full-day dress rehearsals at the Beacon Theatre, and just two days after he and Marcel Marceau had fronted the media to promote the HBO special, Michael collapses on stage. Witnesses recall that it was during camera blocking for “Black or White” that Jackson’s collapse took place. Michael is rushed to Beth Israel Medical Center North at 170 East End Avenue on the Upper East Side of New York. Meanwhile, a meeting is called in the lobby at the Beacon Theatre.

Michael was scheduled to attend the 1995 Billboard Music Awards at the New York Coliseum that evening, where he was to receive the Special Hot 100 Award for his outstanding chart achievements. Janet cancels her appearance at the Billboard Awards after hearing that Michael had a stroke. She visits him at the hospital.

December 7 : The One Night Only cast and crew continues to run numbers and camera block at the Beacon Theatre. Michael’s personal physician Dr. Allan Metzger flies to New York from Los Angeles.

Lisa Marie visits Michael at the hospital but they have an argument and Michael asks her to go back to Los Angeles. Michael decides to postpone the concert.

LaToya, phones the New York Daily News with the assertion that she knows “all of Michael’s little moves and his little schemes that he pulls when he thinks he needs attention,” adding that his collapse was “a publicity move.”

December 8 : Just hours before the first show is scheduled to take the stage with a live audience, the cast and crew at the Beacon Theatre is again asked to assemble themselves for a meeting, with Margolis delivering the news that no one wants to hear : The show will not go on.

January 25 : Michael & Chandler’s lawyers reach an agreement to settle the civil case. The Chandlers agree to withdraw their complaint against a confidential financial compensation and the civil trial is cancelled. “The actual amount of the settlement has never been revealed, although speculation has placed the sum around $20 million. One source says Chandler and June Chandler Schwartz received up to $2 million each, while attorney Feldman might have gotten up to 25 percent in contingency fees. The rest of the money is being held in trust for the boy and will be paid out under the supervision of a court-appointed trustee. “Remember, this case was always about money,” Pellicano says, “and Evan Chandler wound up getting what he wanted.” Since Chandler still has custody of his son, sources contend that logically this means the father has access to any money his son gets.

January 27 : Reuters reports that a source said the pictures did not match Jordan’s description of Michael’s penis. Jordan claimed that Jackson was circumcised; however, Jackson’s autopsy report showed that he had not been circumcised. In March 1994, Jackson’s mother, Katherine, was called to testify in front of the LA County Grand Jury. Investigators asked whether her son changed his appearance so that it does not match the accuser’s description.

Late January : After the Hayvenhurst estate was damaged by the Northridge earthquake. Katherine, Joseph, Alejandra, Randy, Genevieve, Randy Jr, Jermaine and Lea Bongo move to a a mansion in Beverly Park during renovations. Michael pays for the renovations and the rented mansion (40 000 dollars a month).

February 14 : Michael goes to a Denver courtroom to testify that he did not steal the song “Dangerous” from Crystal Cartier as she proclaims.

February 15 : Michael wins this new trial!

February 18 : LaToya tapes an interview with Geraldo regarding the Jackson Family Honors. LaToya says that Johnnie Cochran threatened her career and says that Michael settled to silence Jordy. Jackson family friend Florence Anthony defends Michael on the same show.

February 19 : The whole Jackson family (except LaToya) is reunited at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas to rehearse & tape The Jackson Family Honors TV Special which is broadcasted a few days later around the world. Michael does not perform but he presents two lifetime achievement awards to Berry Gordy & Elizabeth Taylor . His date for the night is Lisa Marie Presley. At the end Michael sings the song “If You’d Only Believe” with the whole family (except LaToya & Janet). The Jacksons performs “2300 Jackson Street” with Rebbie & the grandchildren including 3T.

July 25 : The Jackson camp, confronted with the news splashed across the front page of Santo Domingo’s leading daily newspaper. Listin Diario on July 11, says the tale is fiction. “There was no marriage,” says spokesperson Lee Solters. Presley’s people say the reports sound false, but they also admit they couldn’t immediately locate the alleged bride—who announced her separation from her musician husband, Danny Keough, just three months ago. Jerry Schilling, her former manager and lifelong friend, says that until he hears it straight from Lisa Marie, he won’t believe a word. “Too tabloidish,” he says.

July 26 + 27 : Janet gives two concerts at the Radio City Music Hall in New York City. Michael attends the concerts disguised in Cheik Arab.

August : In what may turn out to be the never-ending case, this past August, both Barry Rothman and Dave Schwartz (two principal players left out of the settlement) filed civil suits against Jackson. Schwartz maintains that the singer broke up his family. Rothman’s lawsuit claims defamation and slander on the part of Jackson, as well as his original defense team — Fields, Pellicano and Weitzman — for the allegations of extortion. “The charge of [extortion],” says Rothman attorney Aitken, “is totally untrue. Mr. Rothman has been held up for public ridicule, was the subject of a criminal investigation and suffered loss of income.” (Presumably, some of Rothman’s lost income is the hefty fee he would have received had he been able to continue as Chandler’s attorney through the settlement phase.

August 01 : Michael and Lisa Marie announce that they got married weeks earlier in the Dominican Republic. Lisa Marie, 26, Elvis Presley’s only child, issued a statement confirming the whispers that had been swirling for 11 weeks: She had indeed wed the 35-year-old pop genius : “My marriage to Michael took place in a private ceremony outside the United States weeks ago,” Presley-Jackson’s statement continued. “I am very much in love with Michael, I dedicate my life to being his wife. I understand and support him. We both look forward to raising a family. My married name is Mrs. Lisa Marie Presley-Jackson,” said the announcement, issued three weeks after a Dominican Republic judge produced a marriage license for all to see, dated May 26 and bearing the couple’s signatures.

Late August/Early September : Janet invites her nephews to spend a few days at her Malibu beach home to rest and prepare for the funerals. The whole family (except LaToya) attends Dee Dee’s funerals. Michael pays for the funerals and later he invites 3T to New York and produces their first album “Brotherhood”

September 2 : Michael and Lisa Marie land in Concorde at Roissy Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris. Then, they fly to Nice aboard a private Boeing belonging to the Saudi Prince Al Whaleed. In the middle of the night, at 2 a.m.,they arrive at the Majestic Hotel in Cannes.

September 3 : Michael and Lisa Marie get up at 12 p.m.. They have breakfast and go to Port Canto (near Nice) to meet Prince Al Whaleed who has invited them to lunch aboard his yacht, the Kingdom. The meeting is at 2 p.m. He & Michael want to launch a production company together. Later that afternoon, Michael and Lisa Marie go shopping in Cannes.

September 22 : Jackson Not Charged but Not Absolved : “Ending months of speculation, prosecutors announced Wednesday that they have closed their child molestation investigation of entertainer Michael Jackson, but said the inquiry uncovered two more possible victims and stressed that authorities are prepared to reopen the case if any of the children decide they are willing to testify. They conceded that the chances of that appear remote, however, and said their efforts to prosecute Jackson ultimately were stymied when the boy who made the initial complaint against the singer decided he did not want to testify. “We have concluded that because the young boy who was the catalyst for this investigation has recently informed us that he does not wish to participate in any criminal proceeding where he is named as a victim, that we must decline prosecution (of) Mr. Jackson,” Gil Garcetti, the Los Angeles County district attorney, said. The announcement Wednesday effectively ended the criminal investigation of the world-renowned entertainer, who weathered a storm of negative publicity and battled drug addiction in the wake of allegations that he sexually molested a 13-year-old boy over a period of several months in 1993. Jackson faced simultaneous criminal investigation and civil action because of those allegations; he settled the civil case for millions of dollars earlier this year but only Wednesday saw the criminal case finally come to a close. In a statement, Jackson said: “I am thankful that the investigation has reached a conclusion. I’ve continually maintained my innocence.” Joining Garcetti at the morning news conference were Santa Barbara Dist. Atty. Thomas Sneddon and Los Angeles Deputy Dist. Atty. Lauren Weiss, the lead prosecutor in the case.

Even as they announced that no charges would be filed, however, prosecutors pointedly declined to clear Jackson of any wrongdoing. They stressed that their decision to end the investigation did not reflect any lack of faith in the credibility of the alleged victims, and they said they could revisit the charging decision anytime during the next five years, when the statute of limitations expires. In addition, they said their investigation–an enormous undertaking that took 13 months, involved two grand juries and relied upon interviews with more than 400 people–had turned up two more children who said Jackson had molested them, but they too were unwilling to take the stand. One of those alleged victims is outside the country and thus outside of court jurisdiction, Sneddon said. In addition, Sneddon said, that child had previously made comments generally denying any wrongdoing by Jackson, which would have complicated a prosecution based on his statements even if he had been willing to testify. The other child said he was molested three times by Jackson and has been in therapy since last fall, Sneddon said. “After conversations with the counselor, conversations with the child and conversations with the child’s attorney, they have expressed their reluctance to go forward and be a participant in a situation where charges were filed and the child was the sole witness against Mr. Jackson,” Sneddon said. “I am honoring that request on the part of that particular child victim.”

Under California law, victims of sexual abuse cannot be jailed for contempt of court for refusing to testify against their alleged attackers. That means that even if prosecutors wanted to proceed without the consent of the alleged victims, they could not force them to testify. Johnnie L. Cochran Jr., one of Jackson’s attorneys, said he was disappointed that prosecutors did not definitively clear his client of all wrongdoing, but added that the action Wednesday effectively ends the case and that Jackson was relieved finally to have the matter behind him. Jackson has always maintained his innocence and has said he was the victim of a failed extortion attempt by the father of the boy who made the initial allegations. “He’s extremely elated,” said Cochran, who spoke to reporters during a break in the O.J. Simpson case, where he also is a lead lawyer. “He’s very, very thankful and grateful that this investigation is over. He wants to get on with his life. He plans to do that.”

October : Michael is on the cover of GQ Magazine : Was Michael Jackson Framed? The Untold Story By Mary A. Fisher : “Neither Michael Jackson nor his current defense attorneys agreed to be interviewed for this article. Had they decided to fight the civil charges and go to trial, what follows might have served as the core of Jackson’s defense — as well as the basis to further the extortion charges against his own accusers, which could well have exonerated the singer.”

Michael writes and records his vocals for “Scream”, using one of the musical tracks created by Jam and Lewis for a Janet/Michael duet.

October 10 : Michael and Lisa Marie visit almost every room in the St. Jude’s Hospital in downtown Memphis, Tennessee. The pair hands out toys, signed autographs & chat with the sick children.

Early November : Janet, Terry Lewis & Jimmy Jam go the Hit Factory in New York to work on “Scream” with Michael.

November 5 : The Black & White magazine team (Laurent Hopman, Julien Derain and Christophe Boulmé) visit Michael at the Hit Factory Studio in New York and get to listen to three songs from the new album (“Earth Song”, “Stranger In Moscow” and “Smile”). They present an artwork to MJ. MJ show them the “History” teaser and album cover. They also get to interview Bruce Swedien who tell them that MJ & Janet are currently recording a duet together and Prince recently visited MJ in the studio.

December : Michael goes to Chicago to record the song “You Are Not Alone” with R Kelly. While in Chicago, Michael makes a photoshoot for the album’s booklet with his nephews Jeremy & Jourdynn & his cousins Elijah & Levon. From Chicago, Michael goes to Minneapolis via a private Amtrak coach. Michael records extra vocals for “Scream” in Minneapolis, but it’s mostly his original vocal in October that’s the one ultimately used in the track.

Michael does a photoshoot with photographer Steve Whitsitt for the cover of planned “Smile” single. He imitates Charlie Chaplin for the photoshoot.

December 2 : Abdool, Chacon, McManus, Domz, and Bagnall file a lawsuit against Michael Jackson for wrongful termination. Abdool and Chacon were the first two to file, enlisting the services of a civil attorney named Michael Ring, who filed a lawsuit on their behalf on December 2, 1994 (and eventually the other three members), making demands of $16 million. Among their filings were claims that they had been “harassed” and “intimidated,” which also made them “emotionally disabled” and unable to work.

December 10 : Adrian Grant visits Michael in Chicago where he is recording songs with producer R Kelly.

Michael starts rehearsing for his upcoming American Music Aards and Superbowl performances.

January 16 : Michael attends the NAACP Image Awards with Katherine at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Pasadena. He gives a speech upon being awarded the 25th Silver Anniversary Entertainer of the Year Award following a tribute performance of “Will You Be There” by Patti Labelle & gospel singer Daryl Coley. Michael sings with the group as a finale for the award ceremony.

January 17 : Michael visits a children’s hospital. Later, he appears on the televised “Call for Reunion” concert at the Lincoln Memorial for “America’s Reunion on the Mall”, a festival for Bill Clinton’s upcoming inauguration. MJ joins other celebrities (including Diana Ross & Stevie Wonder) on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C,  to sing “We Are The World” and “America the Beautiful”.

January 18 : While in Washington DC for the Clinton Presidential Inaugural Gala, Michael Jackson takes part in a photo shoot by artist photographer Lynn Goldsmith.

January 19 : Michael appears on the televised “The 52nd Presidential Inaugural Gala” in Landover, Maryland at The Capital Centre in honor of President Bill Clinton, making an appeal on behalf of AIDS sufferers and his friend Ryan White. MJ performs “Gone Too Soon” and “Heal the World”. At the end, he joins Fleetwood Mac and other celebrities on the finale of “Don’t Stop”.

January 25 : Michael opens the American Music Awards ceremony held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles with a performance of “Dangerous”. He also receives three awards including the first ever International Artist Award presented by Elizabeth Taylor & Eddie Murphy. Michael stays at “The Hideaway”, his apartment in Century City with Frank & Eddie Cascio and Jordy Chandler.

January 26 : Michael attends a press conference at the Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles to accept a cheque of $100 000 from the NFL and Frito Lay (Sponsor of the Superbowl) and $500 000 from Best Foundation for his Heal The World Foundation. Heal LA is launched at this event. Later he takes, Frank, Eddie & Jordy (with his mother & sister) to Disneyland and at night the whole group goes to Neverland.

January 31 : Michael performs a medley of “Jam”, “Bilie Jean”, “Black Or White” and “Heal The World” at the Superbowl Halftime Show in the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena before an audience of 100 000 in the stadium and 133 millions on TV.

February 8 : Michael is on the cover of Jet magazine with Oprah Winfrey.

February 10 : “Michael Jackson Talks…to Oprah” is aired live from Neverland Valley Ranch all around the world attracting around 100 million viewers. During the interview, Michael reveals that he suffers from a skin disorder that destroys the pigmentation of his skin. He also shows his ranch to the world, premieres the video of “Give In To Me” and improvises a beat box on “Who Is It” after doing the Moonwalk. Elizabeth Taylor makes a surprise appearance to support him. Karen Faye & Debbie Rowe are also present.

February 15 : “Give In To Me” is released in the world (except the US).

February 16 : Former President Jimmy Carter visits Michael at Neverland for Heal Our Children Co-Chairs and they pose for pictures together.

February 24 : Michael attends the Grammy Awards with Brooke Schields at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. Janet presents him with the Grammy Legend Award. Following the presentation, Michael & Brooke attend the Polygram Party at A&M Studios and later show up at the Sony Party in Century City.

February 26 : Michael is on the cover of Entertainment Weekly.

Michael talks about Elizabeth Taylor in a video for the Arts & Entertainment Network.

Late February : Michael invites Jordy Chandler, his sister Lily & mother June to Neverland.

March : Michael updates and approves the second music video for “Who Is It”, which is a compilation video of his performances by MTV producer Glenn Ribble.

March 8 : Michael sprains his ankle during rehearsals for his “Soul Train Music Awards” performance. Michael’s announcement of “Michael Jackson Productions Inc.”, a film production company, which will give a share of its profits to his “Heal the World Foundation”, is published.

March 9 : Michael attends the Soul Train Awards at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles with Bill Bray where he is presented with two awards + the Humanitarian Award Of The Year presented by Eddie Murphy. He also perfoms “Remember The Time” seated in a gold chair because he twisted his ankle the night before (Wayne & Bill help him to the podium on a wheelchair!).

March 11 : Walking on churches, Michael attends the “AFI Life Achievement Award: A Tribute to Elizabeth Taylor” for his friend Elizabeth Taylor’s award acceptance in Los Angeles, California, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

March 16 :  Dr Sasaki performs surgery on Michael’s scalp to reduce the scar & bald scalp from the Pespi burn. Dr Hoefflin, Dr Metzger, Dr Klein & Debbie Rowe take care of Michael after the surgery.

March 27 : Michael makes a five-minute speech in front of 1200 teachers and politicians at a conference in the Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles which is sponsorised by the Milken Family Trust.

March 29 : Who Is It” is released in the US as a maxi single in the with several dance remixes including the “Brothers In Rhythm House Mix” and productions by electronic music star Moby. This song hit #6 on the R&B singles chart & #14 on the the Hot 100.

March 30 : “Watzupwitu”, a duet between Michael & Eddie Murphy is released.

Late March : Michael takes Jordy, Lily & June Chandler to Las Vegas where they stay at the Mirage Hotel.

April 02-07 : Jordy, Lily & June Chandler visit Michael at Neverland.

April 13 : Michael travels to Pawtucket, in the state of Rhode Island. This small town, bordering Providence, the state capital, is near the Massachusetts border and close to Boston. Michael is there to visit the headquarters of the famous American toy manufacturer, Hasbro. During a visit lasting more than two hours, the singer has the opportunity to see the various production rooms.

May 9 : Michael checks in the Hotel de Paris in Monaco with Jordy, Lily & June + Bob Jones.

May 10 : Michael has dinner with Prince Albert De Monaco.

May 12 : Michael attends the World Music Awards in Monaco with Jordy, Lily & June. Michael is presented with three awards by Michael Douglas, Prince Albert & Princess Stephanie. The ceremony is broadcasted later on TV channels around the world.

May 13 : Michael & the Chandlers leave Monaco by helicopter and in Nizza transfers to a plane to Paris where they spend three day visiting Disneyland.

May 16 : Michael & the Chandlers fly back to Los Angeles.

May 18 : Michael is presented with two awards at the BMI Pop Awards Dinner at the Regency Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Los Angeles. Lori Byler, president of the ‘MJ Observer Fan Club’, later presentes Michael with another award, a plaque in recognition of his work with children.

May 19 : Michael is presented with the first ever Lifetime Achievement Award from Norris McWhirther, the Editor of the Guinness Museum of World Records in Los Angeles.

May 20 : “In All That Glitters, Ray puts the official date of Evan meeting Jackson as May 20, 1993. Ironically enough, this is the same day that a tabloid story sold by somebody on the Chandlers’ side was published and syndicated about Jackson’s relationship with June, Jordan, and Lily. Ray claims it was an associate on June’s end. Five days later, the National Enquirer picked up the story. May 20th is the date given by Ray as far as Evan meeting Jackson. On this day, Evan apparently made a trip to June’s home, where Jackson was staying. Late June : “At a graduation that month, Chandler confronted his ex-wife with his suspicions. “She thought the whole thing was baloney,” says her ex-attorney, Michael Freeman. She told Chandler that she planned to take their son out of school in the fall so they could accompany Jackson on his “Dangerous” world tour. July : The American Friends of Hebrew University award their 1994 Scopus Award to Michael Jackson.

Michael starts working on a short film named “Is This Scary” with Stephen King and Mick Garris for a song scheduled to appear on “The Adam Family Values” soundtrack.

July 7 : “I will start with the message Evan left June and Jordan on July 7, the day before, according to Ray Chandler’s book, All That Glitters, as it was quite literally another threat: “It’s Wednesday, July 7. June, make sure you play this message for Michael and Jordie. I’m going to repeat that. June, make sure you play this message for Michael and Jordie. All three of you are responsible for what is going on. No one is a neutral party. Since Jordie has repeatedly refused to return my phone calls, this will be my last voluntary attempt to communicate. July 3 : Dr. Sasaki prescribes Percocet for Michael. It is the first time he prescribed pain medication to MJ. Percocet is a short-acting oxycodone combination product, meaning that the narcotic is paired in tablet form with an over-the-counter analgesic, in this case, acetaminophen.

July 7 : Evan Chander files a modification of his custody agrement. The documents petition the courts to forbid Jordie from going anywhere near Michael. July 8 : During a phone call to Dave Schwartz (Jordy’s stepfather), Evan threatens to destroys Michael if he doesn’t get what he wants. Michael’s attorney Bert Fields hires private investigator Anthony Pellicano to investigate the Chandlers.

July 9 : “Dave Schwartz, who had been friendly with Chandler, secretly tape-recorded a lengthy telephone conversation he had with him. During the conversation, Chandler talked of his concern for his son and his anger at Jackson and at his ex-wife, whom he described as “cold and heartless.” When Chandler tried to “get her attention” to discuss his suspicions about Jackson, he says on the tape, she told him “Go fuck
yourself.” “I had a good communication with Michael,” Chandler told Schwartz. “We
were friends. I liked him and I respected him and everything else for what he is. There was no reason why he had to stop calling me. I sat in the room one day and talked to Michael and told him exactly what I want out of this whole relationship. What I want.”

Elsewhere on the tape, Chandler indicated he was prepared to move against Jackson: “It’s already set,” Chandler told Schwartz. “There are other people involved that are waiting for my phone call that are in certain positions. I’ve paid them to do it. Everything’s going according to a certain plan that isn’t just mine. Once I make that
phone call, this guy [his attorney, Barry K. Rothman, presumably] is going to destroy everybody in sight in any devious, nasty, cruel way that he can do it. And I’ve given him full authority to do that.”

Dave Schwartz and June Chandler Schwartz played the taped conversation for Pellicano. “After listening to the tape for ten minutes, I knew it was about extortion,” says Pellicano. That same day, he drove to Jackson’s Century City condominium, where Chandler’s son and the boy’s half-sister were visiting. Without Jackson there, Pellicano “made eye contact” with the boy and asked him, he says, “very pointed questions”: “Has Michael ever touched you? Have you ever seen him naked in bed?” The answer to all the questions was no. The boy repeatedly denied that anything bad had happened.

July 10 : Michael takes Jordy, Lily & June Chandler to his friend’s Michael Milken’s beach house in Los Angeles. Later, they are supposed to go to Neverland to celebrate Lily’s birthday but June cancels the trip and decides to ga back to her home in L.A. Michael returns to Neverland alone.

July 11 : “after Jackson had declined to meet with Chandler, the boy’s father and Rothman went ahead with another part of the plan — they needed to get custody of the boy. Chandler asked his ex-wife to let the youth stay with him for a “one-week visitation period.” As Bert Fields later said in an affidavit to the court, June Chandler Schwartz allowed the boy to go based on Rothman’s assurance to Fields that her son would come back to her after the specified time, never guessing that Rothman’s
word would be worthless and that Chandler would not return their son.”

July 12 : “On July 12, one day after Chandler took control of his son, he had his ex-wife sign a document prepared by Rothman that prevented her from taking the youth out of Los Angeles County. This meant the boy would be unable to accompany Jackson on the tour. His mother told the court she signed the document under duress. Chandler, she said in an affidavit, had threatened that “I would not have [the boy] returned to me.” A bitter custody battle ensued, making even murkier any charges Chandler made about wrong-doing on Jackson’s part. (As of this August [1994], the boy was still living with Chandler.) It was during the first few weeks after Chandler took control of his son — who was now isolated from his friends, mother and stepfather — that the boy’s allegations began to take shape.”

July 13 : Michael’s signing of 3T, a musical group composed of his newphews Taj, Taryll, and T.J., on his “MJJ Music” label, results in the release of their first song “Didn’t Mean to Hurt You” on the “Free Willy” soundtrack; Michael also includes “Will You Be There” on the soundtrack.

July 14 : “Now, we’re going to move on to the final part of this chapter, which is the events of July 14, 1993. For this section, I will be referring back to Ray Chandler’s 2004 book All That Glitters. This is the day when Evan Chandler and his lawyer Barry Rothman decided to contact Beverly Hills psychiatrist Dr. Mathis Abrams about a hypothetical situation in-regard to child molestation. This hypothetical situation given to Dr. Abrams led him to the conclusion that “reasonable suspicion would exist that sexual abuse may have occurred,” which was, in turn, sent to Rothman in the form of a two-page letter.”

July 20 : There is another request for Percocet, due to strenuous rehearsals, prescribed with the knowledge of Dr. Klein.

“We pick up on July 20, which is the day when June Chandler and Dave Schwartz met up with Evan’s attorney, Barry Rothman, where they were shown the letter from Dr. Abrams. To refresh your memory, on July 14, Evan and Rothman presented a “hypothetical situation” as it pertained to Jordan, which led Dr. Abrams to write back that he’d had “reasonable suspicion that sexual abuse may have occurred.” However, this July 14 date was two days before Jordan’s supposed “confession,” and during the period that Jordan was still defending Jackson. And from what we know now, Evan’s so-called “evidence” he claimed he had never materialized at any point during the investigations against Jackson, and his only “incident” of “observing abuse” (the supposed “spooning” from Memorial Day Weekend), was a part of Evan questioning whether his suspicions of Jackson as a whole were a part of his “paranoia.” With no evidence and no cooperation from Jordan at that particular point, there was no way this “hypothetical situation” was reflective of anything with Jordan. It’s this very letter, based on a fake scenario, that was shown to Dave and June at this meeting, who, by the way, had yet to get Jordan back from Evan. While there, it was demanded that they sign a document that would allow Evan to take full custody of Jordan.”

July 27 : “According to a July 27 entry in the diary kept by Rothman’s former colleague, it’s clear that Rothman was guiding Chandler in the plan. “Rothman wrote letter to Chandler advising him how to report child abuse without liability to parent,” the entry reads.”

August 2 : Evan Chandler extracts a tooth from his son Jordie in his Beverly Hills clinic. During the procedure, he decides to intravenously administer the drug sodium Amytal. While under the influence of the drug, Jordie answers questions about Michael.

August 4 : “On August 4, 1993, however, things became very clear. Chandler and his son met with Jackson and Pellicano in a suite at the Westwood Marquis Hotel. On seeing Jackson, says Pellicano, Chandler gave the singer an affectionate hug (a gesture, some say, that would seem to belie the dentist’s suspicions that Jackson had molested his son), then reached into his pocket, pulled out Abrams’s letter and began reading passages from it. When Chandler got to the parts about child molestation, the boy, says Pellicano, put his head down and then looked up at Jackson with a surprised expression, as if to say “I didn’t say that.” As the meeting broke up, Chandler pointed his finger at Jackson, says Pellicano, and warned “I’m going to ruin you.” At a meeting with Pellicano in Rothman’s office later that evening, Chandler and Rothman made their demand – $20 million.”

August 5 : Michael attends a performance of ballet dancer Mikhail Baryshnikov with Debbie Rowe and Arnold Klein in Orange County, California.

August 09 : “We begin on August 9, when, according to Ray Chandler, Pellicano came back with a counteroffer of $1 million to fund three screenplays written by Evan and Jordan, which Pellicano claims was done to catch the Chandlers negotiating for money on tape. According to Ray, Evan turned this “offer” down, as he was expecting a much larger amount. “

August 10 : Dr Sasaki receives a phone call from Dr. Klein that Michael is experiencing extreme pain

August 10 +11 +12 : Michael starts filming the short film “Is This Scary” directed by Mick Garris at CBS/Radfort Studios in Studio City. Shana Mangatal, the secretary of Michael’s manager is part of the cast. James Safechuck and his parents visit Michael on the set and they all pose for a picture together.

August 13 : “On August 13, there was another meeting in Rothman’s office. Pellicano
came back with a counteroffer — a $350,000 screenwriting deal. Pellicano says he made the offer as a way to resolve the custody dispute and give Chandler an opportunity to spend more time with his son by working on a screenplay together. Chandler rejected the offer. Rothman made a counterdemand — a deal for three screenplays or nothing — which was spurned. In the diary of Rothman’s ex-colleague,
an August 24 entry reveals Chandler’s disappointment: “I almost had a $20 million deal,” he was overhear telling Rothman.”

August 20 : Michael cancels the filming of “Is This Scary” and goes to San Francisco to embark on a commercial flight to Taipei (Taiwan) with Bill Bray.

Debbie Rowe :”Michael was getting ready to go on tour. It was after the Sasaki surgery. He wasn’t completely off the Demerol, but he was right there. He was on Toradol, which is a non-narcotic, and he was right there. And it was a fight to get him there, because he had such fear of the pain that what would happen if we didn’t catch it before it gets to a certain point, then you have to go overboard, you have to go a different way. And he was doing so well, and I didn’t want anything to get screwed up. I talked to him and asked him how he was one morning, and he said he didn’t feel good. And I said, “well, I’ll just bring you soup for lunch then” and I said, “I have to see a patient, so I won’t be there until later”. And I probably would have gotten there like 1:30 or 2:00 and everything was gone at the house. His instruments, his clothes, everything was gone. And I called – I think it was Evvy that was working for him – and she said, “he’s gone on tour” and I said, “well, how could he just go on tour? He doesn’t have any of the stuff” and she said – she sounded like they took him, there was really nothing we can do”

August 21 : Michael arrives in Taipei (Taiwan) on a commercial flight with China Airlines from San Francisco. One hours later, Michael takes another flight to Bangkok, the capital and most populous city of Thailand, to kick off the third leg of his Dangerous World Tour.

Dr Stewart Finkelstein wasn’t Michael’s personal doctor – he was to attend to the crew and the rest of the company, but he treated Michael Jackson when Dr. Forecast was not available, and in Bangkok Forecast was not yet there. Dr. Finkelstein confirmed it in his video deposition that initially he was the only doctor on the tour.

The Los Angeles Police Department serve search warrants on Michael’s Neverland Valley Ranch in Santa Barbara and on his condominium known as the “hide-out” at 1101 Galaxy Way #2247 in Century City. Brett Barnes, his mother and sister are staying at Neverland when the polices arrives for the search.

August 24 : Michael launches the third leg of his Dangerous World Tour with a concert at the Suphachalasai Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand. Backstage, before the concert, Michael & Bill Bray pose for pictures with former 1988 Thai Miss Universe Porntip Nakhirunkanok.

After the concert, Dr Finkelstein : “I attempted to give him a shot of Demerol, but his buttocks was so scarred up and abscessed that the needle almost bent. And at that time, I’m thinking we were going to have erratic absorption and that that was not a safe route to administer medication to him because it may accumulate and then all of a sudden dump in his system or not get to him, in which case at that point in time I ran an IV, and I administered some IV pain medication. And do you recall what IV pain medication you administered? “Morphine.”

August 25 : Michael’s second concert in Bangkok is rescheduled to august 26 because Michael is suffering from acute dehydration.

“The extent of the allegations against Jackson wasn’t known until August 25. A person inside the DCS illegally leaked a copy of the abuse report to Diane Dimond of Hard Copy. Within hours, the L.A. office of a British news service also got the report and began selling copies to any reporter willing to pay $750. The following day, the world knew about the graphic details in the leaked report. “While laying next to each other in bed, Mr. Jackson put his hand under [the child’s] shorts,” the social worker had written. From there, the coverage soon demonstrated that anything about Jackson would be fair game.”

October : Tony Jackson, a cousin of Michael with whom he had a close relationship dies in a car accident aged 35. Michael pays for the funeral and decides to support Tony’s wife Debra and their 7 year old child Anthony.

October 14 : Michael wants to visit the Estrela Toy Factory based in Guarulhos. Márcio de Paula, living near the factory decided to have a glimpse of the King of Pop! Accompanied by his sister, Márcio, who was 15 at the time, felt “a very bad feeling” when observing the huge amount of fans, press and police in front of the factory. So, to get away from the crowd, he decided to lean against a police car. There were not enough security guards at the scene and when Michael and his entourage realized that inside the factory was as full as outside, they decided to cancel the visit. “The cars turned around, at that moment I was standing there on the hood of the police car, and when the factory gates opened, that crowd became abuzz and the cars began to lose control, and were swerving away from people, because people threw themselves in front of the cars. And in that, his vehicles were hitting the car I was leaning in. So, actually, I was squeezed by his entourage’s car.” Márcio was not the only one hit, other people were injured, including his younger sister, who suffered burns to her body. However, his case was the most serious. “I suffered a lot of injuries, had an open fracture of the femur and had to be rushed through. From the waist down I hurt myself all over,” he said.

Jackson’s lawyer, Bertram Fields, writes a letter to LAPD Police Chief Willie L. This letter is published by way of the Los Angeles Times and states: “I am advised that your officers have told frightened youngsters outrageous lies, such as ‘We have nude photos of you’ in order to push them into making accusations against Mr. Jackson. There are, of course, no such photos of these youngsters, and they have no truthful accusations to make. But your officers appear ready to employ any device to generate false claims against my client”.

November 9 : Elizabeth Taylor &  Larry Fortensky fly to Mexico City to support Michael. Dr Klein & Debbie Rowe also arrive to show their support.

Debbie Row said she told MJ in Mexico City that he had a problem with drugs. “I said you’re taking too much, you can’t take this forever.”Rowe said MJ was supposed to go to Puerto Rico after Mexico City, but never made it. “He was a hot mess, Rowe said when she saw him in Mexico City. He was depressed, he had taken something, I don’t know what he had taken or he had gotten it from, Rowe recalled. He was on something, that he was taking something. I thought he was back on Demerol, Rowe said. I walked into the room, his suites were never a mess. The suite was a mess. He wasn’t kept, he was always kept. He wasn’t making eye contact, he wasn’t speaking, he didn’t make sense when he did and he said was having problem with his scalp again. We got in a fight, Rowe said. “I’m hot headed, I went off on him about Forecast.” I was angry that Forecast had intercepted Metzger, that Forecast had undermined everything that was done.

During the TV show Devil’s Advocate, LaToya responds to MJ fans : “I defend Michael. I stand up for him so much” but later she says : “if he was here, he would be very proud because he knows what I CAN say and I have not spoken out. I think I’m being very very kind.”.

November 10 : Second day of Michael’s deposition in Mexico in the copyright infringement lawsuit. The deposition is videtaped and later leaked to the press.

November 11 : Last concert of the Dangerous World Tour at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, Mexico. This concert is the last time Michael ever performs the song “Will You Be There” in front of an audience.

November 12 : Michael leaves Mexico with Elizabeth & Larry, stopping off in Canada and Iceland and finally lands at Luton airport in England. Michael is first taken to the home of Elton John’s manager John Reid.

Michael requests the Western Friends of Hebrew University to withdraw his name as recipient of their “Scopus Laureate Award”, the ceremony of which is scheduled for January 29, 1994, while he is recovering from his addiction to prescription medication.

November 19 : Michael’s longtime personal assistant Norma Staikos quits her job and leaves the US for Greece. She is replaced by Evvy Tavasci (who will remain Michael’s PA until his death in 2009 and later work for his Estate).

Elton John helps Michael to find a better rehab facility at a private estate oustide London, the home of his manager John Reid.

November 23 : “Dangerous: The Short Films” is released on VHS.

On November 23, the friction peaked. Based on information he says he got from Weitzman, Fields told a courtroom full of reporters that a criminal indictment against Jackson seemed imminent. Fields had a reason for making the statement: He was trying to delay the boy’s civil suit by establishing that there was an impending criminal case that should be tried first. Outside the courtroom, reporters asked why Fields had made the announcement, to which Weitzman replied essentially that Fields “misspoke himself.” The comment infuriated Fields, “because it wasn’t true,” he says. “It was just an outrage. I was very upset with Howard.” Fields sent a letter of resignation to Jackson the following week.

Following its release—on World AIDS Day of 1993—”Gone Too Soon” became a moderate chart success in several countries: France, Germany, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Switzerland and the UK. The song was released as a cassette single in the US  and became a hit in Zimbabwe, where it charted at number 3. “Gone Too Soon” was promoted with a music video directed by Bill DiCicco, which showed footage of Jackson and White together, as well as scenes from the latter’s funeral.

“Next came the bodyguards. Purporting to take the journalistic high road, Hard Copy’s Diane Dimond told Frontline in early November of last year that her program was “pristinely clean on this. We paid no money for this story at all.” But two weeks later, as a Hard Copy contract reveals, the show was negotiating a $100,000 payment to five former Jackson security guards who were planning to file a $10 million lawsuit alleging wrongful termination of their jobs. December 02 : Katherine and Jermaine appear on CNN’s Showbiz Today and Hard Copy to defend Michael and refute remarks made by five former Hayvenhurst security guards.

December 06 : Michael is on the cover of Jet magazine.

December 08 : LaToya shocks the world by holding a midnight press conference in Tel Aviv, Istrael where she says that she “can no longer be a silent collaborator” to Michael’s ‘crimes against young innocent victims”. Her husband and manager Jack Gordon is by her side.

The Jackson family reacts immediately and holds a press conference at Hayvenhurst to refute LaToya’s claims. Katherine, Joe, Jermaine, Jackie, Tito & Randy tell CNN that LaToya has been brainwashed by her “money hungry” husband Jack Gordon.

Frank & Eddie visit Michael at his rehab center near London

December 09 : In a pre recorded interview from Israel on US Today Show, LaToya tells Katie Couric that she believes Michael is a child molester because Katherine showed her checks in the 80’s at Hayvenhurst. She also claims that Katherine called Michael “a damn faggot”.

The same day, LaToya gives an interviews to Howard Stern on the phone : “It’s not that I knew for sure because I had never seen him in the act”.

December 10 : Michael leaves London and returns home to Neverland with Frank & Eddie.

December 11 : Margaret Maldonado leaves Jermaine & Hayvenhurst with Jeremy & Jourdyn

December 14 : At Hayvenhurst, Katherine, Joe, Rebbie, Tito & Jermaine give an interview to Bev Smith on “The Jacksons: For the Record” special on BET.

December 15 : “Next came the maid. On December 15, Hard Copy presented “The Bedroom Maid’s Painful Secret.” Blanca Francia told Dimond and other reporters that she had seen a naked Jackson taking showers and Jacuzzi baths with young boys. She also told Dimond that she had witnessed her own son in compromising positions with Jackson — an allegation that the grand juries apparently never found credible.

A copy of Francia’s sworn testimony reveals that Hard Copy paid her $20,000, and had Dimond checked out the woman’s claims, she would have found them to be false. Under deposition by a Jackson attorney, Francia admitted she had never actually see Jackson shower with anyone nor had she seen him naked with boys in his Jacuzzi. They always had their swimming trunks on, she acknowledged.”

December 20 : Attorney Johnnie Cochran joins Michael’s legal team with Howard Weitzman. Cochran replaces Bert Fields.

Los Angeles Police Department and Santa Barbara Department go to Neverland with a search warrant. They take photographs of Michael’s body including his penis.

December 22 : Live from Neverland and around the world, Michael makes a 4 minutes statement where he claims his innocence and reveals that earlier this week he was forced by the LAPD and SBPD to submit to a photo session of his body and genitals.

LaToya is a guest on Spanish TV Show ¡Hola Raffaella! where she once again accuses Michael.

December 24/25 : Michael celebrates Christmas at Neverland with the Cascio family. A woman dressed up as Mother Goose reads nursery rhymes and sings as they drink tea and eat cookies around the fire.

December 28 : Concert promoter Marcel Avram files a $20 million breach of contract against Michael claiming Michael’s true condition was concealed on signing the contracts for the Dangerous Tour.

December 30 : Michael appears in public for the first time since returning home at the Treasure Island complex in Las Vegas with friends Steve Wynn and Michael Milken.

December 31 : Michael attends a Barbara Streisand’s concert at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas with friend Mike Milken. Michael & Barbare pose for a picture together backstage.
