The Bold and the Beautiful — Season 30 (2016–2017)

All dates below refer to original U.S. broadcasts, unless otherwise stated.

1. Season dates

BoundaryU.S. broadcast dateEpisode
Season premiereSeptember 19, 2016#7,422 — S30 E1
Season finaleSeptember 15, 2017#7,673 — S30 E252
Following season beginsSeptember 18, 2017#7,674

Total: 252 episodes.

The soap’s official YouTube channel explicitly identifies episode #7,422 as a Season 30 episode originally broadcast on September 19, 2016. Its official streaming archive identifies #7,673, dated September 15, 2017, as S30 E252. YouTube

Archive discrepancy: some early episodes in the official streaming catalogue carry incorrect dates: it labels #7,422 September 15 rather than September 19. I have followed the official YouTube date and corroborating broadcast listings for the beginning of the season. The Bold and the Beautiful

2. Characters and actors

Characters are alphabetized by surname. Maya and Nicole are listed under Avant, Quinn under Fuller, and Zende under Dominguez.

The roster includes the principal characters, recurring family members, children and identifiable storyline guests. I could not independently verify every minor day player or every infant performer’s exact episode dates, so it should not be treated as a certified transcription of all 252 closing-credit sequences.

3. Main storylines

Eric marries Quinn despite the family boycott

Eric’s determination to marry Quinn divides the Forresters. Ridge organizes opposition, and almost the entire family boycotts the ceremony; Ivy attends.

After confronting his relatives, Eric suffers a medical emergency. The ensuing struggle over his care and power of attorney allows Ridge to try to remove Quinn from Eric’s life. Eric’s recovery ultimately strengthens Quinn’s position in both the family and Forrester Creations. wiki.autismit.com

Ridge and Quinn’s forbidden attraction

Ridge initially sets out to expose Quinn as unworthy of Eric, but their antagonism develops into attraction. They share kisses and conceal their emotional involvement from Eric and Brooke.

Brooke discovers them kissing in Australia and abandons her planned wedding to Ridge. In July, Sheila exposes their secret to Eric, causing another crisis in his marriage. Ridge and Quinn do not consummate a sexual affair during this storyline. IBTimes

Steffy leaves Wyatt and remarries Liam

Steffy’s marriage to Wyatt collapses amid continuing conflict over Quinn. Although Wyatt wants to preserve the relationship, he eventually accepts the divorce.

Steffy reunites with Liam, and they marry in Sydney in March 2017. Wyatt remains in Los Angeles, confronting the loss of his marriage. The Australian episodes form part of the programme’s 30th-anniversary celebration. IMDb

The new Spectra Fashions challenges the Forresters

A younger Sally Spectra arrives to revive her great-aunt’s fashion business, supported by grandmother Shirley, tailor Saul and receptionist Darlita.

Bill wants the Spectra property for his skyscraper and works to undermine the company. Under pressure, Sally and Shirley use a hidden camera worn unknowingly by Coco to obtain Forrester designs. Coco’s internship and romance with R.J. make the betrayal particularly painful. Thomas’s feelings for Sally eventually lead him to support her against his own family. tvinsider.com

Thomas, Sally and Caroline’s supposed terminal illness

Thomas and Sally develop a serious relationship. Caroline’s return with Douglas revives the possibility of Thomas rebuilding their family.

Bill exploits this by claiming that Caroline is terminally ill, encouraging Thomas to return to New York. The deception also serves Bill’s campaign against Spectra by removing Sally’s principal financial supporter. Caroline is not actually dying. Fandom

Nicole and Zende marry, then face a fertility crisis

Nicole and Zende reconcile after his involvement with Sasha and their disagreements over Nicole acting as Rick and Maya’s surrogate again.

After their wedding, Nicole learns that she may have difficulty conceiving. Her distress intensifies her attachment to Lizzy. Julius encourages her to reconsider surrendering parental rights, while Rick and Maya fear losing their daughter. Nicole ultimately allows the adoption to proceed. wiki.autismit.com

Sheila returns and targets Eric’s marriage

Sheila reappears unexpectedly in June, claiming to have changed. When Quinn is targeted by a shooter, suspicion initially falls on Sheila, but Deacon is revealed as responsible.

Sheila then exploits Ridge and Quinn’s secret to gain Eric’s trust. Later, she prolongs her stay at the Forrester estate by pretending to remain injured. Eric recruits James Warwick to assess her, drawing another character from Sheila’s past into the story. tvinsider.com

Katie and Wyatt begin a secret relationship

Katie and Wyatt’s friendship develops into romance during the summer, including the Monte Carlo trip. They conceal the relationship because of the likely reactions of Bill—Katie’s former husband and Wyatt’s father—and Quinn.

Their relationship begins during Season 30, although several major revelations about it occur in the following season. episodate.com

The Spectra fire and Liam’s rebellion

Bill’s campaign escalates into arson: Spectra Fashions burns, and Sally narrowly survives.

Liam discovers his father’s responsibility and uses a recorded confession to force Bill out of the CEO position at Spencer Publications. He then helps Sally recover the Spectra property. By the season finale, Brooke learns about Bill’s actions and his physical confrontation with Liam. soaphub.com

4. Recasts and SORAS

CharacterChangeDateExplanation
Douglas ForresterInfant portrayals → Jackson and Leighton RapoJuly 2017; episode credits document both twins on July 11Douglas is aged from an infant into a toddler. This is a modest SORAS, rather than a child-to-adult transformation.
Lizzy ForresterMultiple infant performers → Gianna and Isabella Garcia2017; exact takeover date not establishedInfant recasting, without a major narrative age jump.

Contemporary advance reporting advertised Douglas’s new actors for July 10, whereas episode-specific credits place both twins on July 11, 2017. soapoperanews.net

R.J.’s SORAS falls just before this season. Anthony Turpel debuted on September 14, 2016, replacing Mace Coronel as Brooke and Ridge’s now-teenage son. Turpel is therefore the Season 30 actor, but his debut belongs to the closing days of Season 29. Soap Opera Spy

There is no new adult recast of Thomas, Thorne or Zende within Season 30. Their later replacements belong to subsequent seasons.

5. Births

No continuing character is born during Season 30.

The two babies central to the season’s family stories were born earlier:

ChildBirth dateSeason 30 relevance
Douglas ForresterMarch 8, 2016Thomas and Caroline’s son; recast and aged into a toddler in summer 2017.
Elizabeth “Lizzy” ForresterMay 17, 2016Rick and Maya’s daughter, carried by Nicole; central to the adoption and fertility storyline.

Both births belong to Season 29. Fandom

6. New characters

CharacterFirst appearanceIntroduction
Reverend MurphySeptember 23, 2016Minister officiating at Eric and Quinn’s wedding.
Sally Spectra, the youngerJanuary 31, 2017The original Sally’s grandniece, determined to revive Spectra Fashions.
Shirley SpectraFebruary 1, 2017Original Sally’s sister and grandmother of Sally and Coco.
Saul Feinberg IIFebruary 3, 2017Grandson of the original Spectra tailor, joining the revived company.
DarlitaFebruary 9, 2017Spectra’s new receptionist.
Coco SpectraFebruary 24, 2017Sally’s younger sister, later an intern at Forrester Creations and R.J.’s girlfriend.

The younger Sally is a new character, not a recast of Darlene Conley’s Sally. Similarly, Saul is the original tailor’s grandson, and Darlita is a new receptionist rather than a recast of Darla. tvinsider.com

7. Departures

Character / actorDate or periodCircumstances
Felicia Forrester — Lesli KaySeptember 26, 2016Her brief return for the Eric–Quinn wedding conflict ends.
Thorne Forrester — Winsor HarmonSeptember 2016His brief return ends; this is Harmon’s final run before the role is recast in 2017.
Donna Logan — Jennifer GareisOctober 2016Her short guest return concludes.

Zende Dominguez — Rome FlynnSeptember 8, 2017Leaves for work at Forrester International in Paris with Nicole.
Thomas Forrester — Pierson FodéSeptember 2017Fodé leaves his regular role as Thomas’s story shifts toward Caroline and Douglas in New York.

Felicia’s final date, Sasha’s differing appearance records and Flynn’s September 8 exit are documented separately. Fodé’s departure was announced in September; one contemporary report gives September 14 but incorrectly calls it a Friday, so that precise final date needs caution. a.osmarks.net

Nicole’s move to Paris does not mean Reign Edwards permanently leaves the series at this point: she continues making appearances afterward. Likewise, Caroline’s movements between Los Angeles and New York are recurring story absences rather than a permanent departure.

Cancelled weddings: Brooke and Ridge plan to marry in Australia, but Brooke ends the engagement after discovering his involvement with Quinn. Earlier plans for Brooke to marry Bill also collapse before their successful May ceremony. IBTimes

10. Deaths

No principal continuing character dies during Season 30.

Several dangerous situations should be distinguished from actual deaths:

Character or eventWhat happens
Eric’s medical emergencyEric survives and recovers.
Attempts on Quinn’s lifeQuinn survives; Deacon is exposed as the shooter.
Caroline’s supposed terminal illnessA deception used by Bill; Caroline is not dying.
Spectra Fashions fireSally survives.
Sheila’s injuryShe exaggerates or fabricates continuing symptoms to remain close to Eric.

These events drive major stories without producing a principal-character death within the season. wiki.autismit.com

11. Y&R / B&B Crossovers

DirectionCharacter and actorDateStory
B&B → Y&REric Forrester portrayed by John McCookJanuary 27, 2017Eric visits Lauren Fenmore in Genoa City while she considers Jack Abbott’s investment in Fenmore’s.
Y&R → B&BNo confirmed crossover appearance located during Season 30.—No corresponding visit by an active Y&R character was established for this period.

Eric’s visit is confirmed by contemporary crossover reporting and the Y&R episode synopsis. michaelfairmantv.com

Sheila’s June 9 return is the return of a shared character to B&B, rather than a crossover from a concurrent Y&R storyline. Sally Spectra’s eventual move to Y&R occurs in 2020, outside this season.
