SEASON 11 — August 8, 1997 – August 5, 1998 — 254 episodes (#2624–#2877)
There is a small but important anomaly in the official B&B archive: the Season 11 page says “253 Episodes,” but it actually contains an S11 E254, Episode #2877. Season 12 then begins with #2878, so the continuous range #2624–#2877 contains 254 episodes. One correction from the Season 10 sheet is worth preserving: Winsor Harmon was already Thorne by Season 11. Jeff Trachta’s final episode was December 9, 1996, and Harmon debuted December 10, 1996. (Wikipédia)

I have not found a CBS image specifically catalogued as “Official Season 11 Cast Photo.” There are 1997–98 promotional ensemble photographs, but rather than falsely identify one as the official Season 11 portrait, I would label these period cast/promotional photographs.
Major plots
Taylor’s pregnancy secret: Ridge is Thomas’s father
The season’s defining story begins with Taylor pregnant and allowing everyone—including Thorne—to believe Thorne is the father.
The truth is that:
Ridge Forrester is the biological father.
Taylor had found Ridge in Brooke’s bed and, believing Ridge had chosen Brooke, concealed the truth.
Thorne agrees to protect Taylor and pose as the baby’s father.
Ridge consequently moves forward with Brooke.
Ridge and Brooke finally marry
Brooke finally gets what she has wanted for years: another marriage to Ridge.
Taylor desperately wants to reveal the truth before the ceremony but cannot bring herself to destroy Ridge and Brooke’s happiness.
Ridge and Brooke marry and travel to Italy for their honeymoon. The official archive places their Italian honeymoon in December 1997. (Les Bold et Belle)
But Taylor’s secret is about to make the marriage extremely short-lived.
Thomas Forrester is born
Taylor goes into labor while Brooke and Ridge are away.

Eventually Ridge discovers:

On February 12, 1998 (#2755) Ridge is forced to choose between Brooke, his wife, and Taylor, the mother of his newborn son; on February 13 (#2756) he meets and bonds with Thomas. (Les Bold et Belle)
Ridge leaves Brooke for Taylor
The Thomas revelation destroys Ridge and Brooke’s marriage.
Ridge is furious that the truth was concealed from him, but the discovery also reawakens his feelings for Taylor.
He decides that he wants to raise Thomas with his mother.
Brooke desperately tries to preserve her marriage.
Stephanie, unsurprisingly, supports Ridge and Taylor and pressures Brooke to accept an annulment. On March 2–3, 1998 (#2767–2768) Stephanie explicitly pressures Brooke to sign the annulment papers. (Les Bold et Belle)
Ridge and Taylor reunite and marry
Ridge and Taylor reunite as a family with Thomas.
Their reunion culminates in:

They marry during the latter half of Season 11.
By June 3, 1998 (#2832), the official episode archive explicitly describes Ridge and Taylor returning from their honeymoon. (Les Bold et Belle)
This is therefore one of the season’s major completed marriages.
Rick and Bridget are SORASed
This is one of the most important recast moments in B&B history because both of Brooke and Eric’s children are rapidly aged at essentially the same time.

Jacob Young’s first appearance: December 31, 1997
Jacob Young becomes the first adult/young-adult Rick, marking a clear SORAS transition. A contemporary chronology specifically identifies December 31, 1997 as Young’s debut. (Twittami Beautiful)

Rick suddenly becomes old enough to drive, date and carry his own adult romantic storyline.
Bridget Forrester
Landry Allbright → Agnes Bruckner
Landry Allbright → Agnes Bruckner: December 31, 1997
Like Rick, Bridget is aged substantially.
SORAS: YES.
The simultaneous aging effectively launches a new generation of Forrester/Logan children into the teenage canvas.
C.J. Garrison
Kyle Sabihy → Mick Cain
C.J. is also recast around this period:

Unlike Rick and Bridget, C.J.’s transition is somewhat less dramatic because the character had already been portrayed as an older child/young teen, but Mick Cain’s casting clearly ages C.J. into the teenage storyline.
So for our chronology I would classify it as:
Recast + SORAS/age progression.
This is important because C.J. will now become deeply involved with Rick and Amber.
Amber, Rick and C.J.
Amber Moore moves from supporting troublemaker into one of the show’s central younger characters.
After Rick’s SORAS, Amber becomes involved with him.
C.J. is also attracted to Amber, creating the new-generation triangle:
Rick → Amber ← C.J.
Amber’s relationship with Rick is strongly opposed by Brooke and Eric, who believe she is using him.
Rick’s drag-racing accident
Amber encourages Rick and C.J. to drag race on Mulholland Drive.
The consequences are catastrophic.
On February 13, 1998 (#2756) the race takes place; by February 16 (#2757) Rick is critically injured, and on February 17 (#2758) he is fighting for his life. (Les Bold et Belle)
Rick needs a kidney transplant.
The surprising donor is:
Amber Moore.
On February 24, 1998 (#2763) Rick receives Amber’s kidney. (Les Bold et Belle)
The transplant creates a powerful bond between them and makes it much harder for Brooke to dismiss Amber as simply a gold digger.
Amber becomes pregnant
Later in Season 11, Amber discovers she is pregnant.
She claims that:
Rick is the father.
The pregnancy immediately becomes a major issue because Rick is still extremely young.
Brooke and Eric oppose the relationship and eventually want the baby placed for adoption.
By the final episodes of the season, Amber’s pregnancy is one of the main stories: #2874–2877 revolve around Rick, Amber and his parents debating what should happen to the unborn child. (Les Bold et Belle)
The season ends with:
Rick asking Amber to marry him.
The actual wedding belongs to Season 12, not Season 11.
Grant and Macy
Grant Chambers becomes increasingly close to Macy.
Macy finally finds happiness after years of turmoil with Thorne.
They decide to marry.

Thorne arrives hoping to reconcile with Macy—but he is too late.
Grant’s health crisis
Grant and Macy want a family.
They undergo fertility testing.
In June 1998, Grant receives devastating medical news. The official archive shows the fertility storyline escalating on June 3–15, 1998. (Les Bold et Belle)
This becomes the beginning of the storyline that will reveal Grant is seriously ill.
However:
Grant does NOT die in Season 11.
His cancer and death occur during Season 12, so he must remain in the Season 11 cast and should not appear in this season’s death section. His character biography records his death in 1998 and final appearance on October 9, 1998. (The Bold and the Beautiful)
Sheila, James, Maggie and baby Mary
Sheila continues fighting James and Maggie for her daughter.
She eventually regains custody of Mary.
The official archive shows Sheila legally reclaiming her baby in August 1997, followed by the struggle between Sheila and James over the child. (Les Bold et Belle)
James believes Sheila remains dangerous and attempts to prove she is an unfit mother.
The situation ultimately produces an extraordinary development:

James marries Sheila largely because of Mary and his attempts to stabilize Sheila’s life.

Maggie’s marriage to James collapses amid the Sheila/Mary situation.
Maggie Forrester — Barbara Crampton
Departure: spring 1998
There is a discrepancy between surviving sources over the precise last airdate: one character archive gives May 15, 1998, while another historical cast index gives April 14, 1998 (#2774). (The Bold and the Beautiful)
Because those records conflict, I would currently record:
Maggie Forrester — departure: 1998 (exact final airdate disputed).
Sheila threatens Stephanie and Thomas
Sheila’s behavior deteriorates again.
Her hostility toward Stephanie becomes increasingly dangerous, and she eventually threatens baby Thomas.
By June 1998, Stephanie fears Thomas is in danger. On June 11 (#2838) she reveals Sheila’s threat against the baby. (Les Bold et Belle)
James seeks sole custody of Mary.
Sheila faces another parole/legal crisis and is imprisoned.
Sheila escapes from prison
Near the end of Season 11, Sheila devises another spectacular escape.
She switches places with fellow inmate Cybil Weller.

July 29, 1998 — #2872: Sheila arranges the switch.

This sets up her revenge storyline for Season 12.
Pierce Peterson arrives
Dr. Pierce Peterson — Paul Satterfield
First appearance: July 8, 1998
Pierce is a psychiatrist and specialist in hypnosis who becomes professionally involved with Taylor.
He is attracted to her, immediately creating a potential threat to the newly reunited Ridge/Taylor marriage. His documented run begins July 8, 1998. (The Bold and the Beautiful)
Pierce’s hypnosis storyline begins during the final weeks of Season 11 and carries directly into Season 12.

Returning characters
Season 11 relies more heavily on continuing characters and recasts than on major long-absent returns.
Lauren Fenmore remains active rather than “returning”: she has been part of the B&B canvas continuously since her 1995 migration from Y&R.
Likewise Sheila Carter remains a continuing character throughout the season.
I therefore would not artificially list either Lauren or Sheila as a Season 11 return.

Lauren Fenmore — Tracey E. Bregman
Lauren remains a B&B regular during Season 11.
She is originally a Y&R character, introduced in Genoa City in 1983, but by this period she is firmly embedded in Los Angeles.
During Season 11, her stories remain tied to Eric, Stephanie and especially Sheila.
Sheila Carter — Kimberlin Brown
Sheila is another Y&R-origin character who is now a major B&B regular.
Season 11 is particularly important for her because the story involving James, Mary, Stephanie and her eventual prison escape is entirely B&B-based.
Mary Warwick
Mary herself is not technically a crossover character—she was born on B&B—but because she is Sheila Carter’s daughter, she extends the Carter family created on Y&R into the B&B universe.

I have not found a major B&B regular making a substantive Y&R crossover appearance during this precise Season 11 period comparable to the earlier Eric Forrester appearances.
