Major plots
Ridge chooses Taylor — and marries her
The season finally forces Ridge to choose between Brooke and Taylor.
Taylor tells Blake that she intends to marry Ridge. On May 5, 1992, Ridge announces that he is marrying Taylor and they settle on May 22 as their wedding date. Brooke is devastated. (Les Bold et Belle)
The marriage marks a major historical shift for B&B. Caroline had been Ridge’s first great love, Brooke his seemingly inevitable romantic destiny — but Taylor now becomes his wife.
The honeymoon does not eliminate Brooke from their lives. Ridge remains emotionally connected to her, something Taylor understands almost immediately.
Karen Spencer — Caroline’s identical twin
One of Season 6’s biggest surprises is the revelation that Caroline had an identical twin sister.
Blake discovers a woman named Faith Roberts, who looks exactly like Caroline. He realizes she can be used to distract Ridge from Taylor. Faith changes her appearance and begins using her real identity: Karen Spencer. (Les Bold et Belle)
Bill eventually learns that Karen really is his daughter. Ridge is understandably shaken by seeing a woman identical to his dead wife.
But Karen’s principal romance ultimately becomes Thorne.
The casting was particularly effective because Joanna Johnson, who had played Caroline from 1987 until Caroline’s death in 1990, returned to play Karen.
Thorne, Macy and Karen
Karen’s arrival creates another major triangle.
Thorne is still emotionally attached to Macy, but becomes fascinated by Karen. Bill encourages the relationship. Macy becomes increasingly jealous and insecure.
By late July, Macy catches Thorne and Karen kissing. Soon both women want to move into Thorne’s house, leading to the bizarre situation in which Thorne refuses both — and they each take a room anyway. (Les Bold et Belle)
The marriage of Thorne and Macy effectively disintegrates, but neither is truly able to let the other go. By February 1993, Thorne admits he still cannot get Macy out of his mind. (TheTVDB)
Sheila Carter arrives
This is arguably Season 6’s most historically significant casting event.
Sheila Carter, played by Kimberlin Brown, crosses over from The Young and the Restless. She presents herself in Los Angeles as a pleasant, competent nurse and begins working around the Forresters.
But viewers familiar with Y&R know what the Forresters do not: Sheila has an extremely dangerous past.
She quickly becomes attracted to Eric Forrester.
By June, Sheila is spending time with Eric; on June 23, 1992, their growing intimacy leads to a passionate kiss. (Les Bold et Belle)
Sheila methodically works to replace Brooke in Eric’s life.
Sheila’s past threatens to expose her
Sheila’s new life is endangered when people from Genoa City recognize her.
Judy knows about Sheila’s past — including the infamous baby-switch story — and threatens to tell Eric. Sheila responds by threatening Judy’s family. (Les Bold et Belle)
Sheila’s mother Molly Carter also appears, while psychiatrist Jay Garvin becomes involved in Sheila’s attempts to control her behavior.
This makes Season 6 a genuine Y&R/B&B crossover chapter, not simply a new character introduction.
Brooke is pregnant — but who is the father?
Brooke discovers that she is pregnant again.
There is a serious problem: she has slept with both Eric and Ridge within the possible conception window.
On June 19, Brooke tells Ridge she is pregnant. At first Ridge assumes Eric must be the father — then realizes that he could be the father himself. (Les Bold et Belle)

Bridget is born
Brooke’s pregnancy culminates at the end of December.

The child is Bridget Forrester.
Her name itself is significant: BRooke + rIDGE → BRIDGET, reflecting Brooke’s belief that Ridge is her father.
Brooke is unsure whether Eric or Ridge fathered her baby. Sheila Carter, determined to ensure that Eric remains available to marry her, tampers with the blood samples used for the paternity test. On February 8, 1993, the test falsely identifies Ridge Forrester as Bridget’s biological father. Brooke subsequently names her daughter Bridget, combining the names Brooke and Ridge. The truth will not be revealed until 1996, when new testing establishes that Eric Forrester is Bridget’s biological father.
Eric and Brooke divorce
Brooke’s obsession with Ridge and Eric’s growing relationship with Sheila finally destroy the marriage.
Eric tells Sheila he intends to divorce Brooke, although Brooke’s pregnancy complicates everything. By August 1992 he is already consulting a divorce lawyer. (Les Bold et Belle)
Once Bridget’s paternity situation appears resolved, Eric is increasingly free to build a life with Sheila.
By March 1993, Eric and Sheila are lovers and planning to marry. But Eric delays the wedding, partly because Stephanie remains an emotional complication. (TheTVDB)
Stephanie and Jack Hamilton
Taylor’s father Jack Hamilton becomes a major new romantic interest for Stephanie.
Jack is charming but deeply troubled by a gambling addiction and serious debts. Stephanie falls for him without initially understanding the scale of his problems.
His son Zach is also trapped by the consequences of Jack’s gambling. Criminals pressure Zach and threaten Felicia; at one point Zach is ordered to kill his own father. (Les Bold et Belle)

Felicia falls for Taylor’s brother Zach Hamilton.
Zach initially manipulates circumstances to meet her, but genuine feelings develop. Unfortunately, Jack’s gambling debts put both Zach and Felicia in danger.
Zach tries to push Felicia away to protect her. The storyline brings organized-crime danger into a series normally dominated by fashion and romantic intrigue.
Sally finally defeats Clarke
Clarke believes he is about to acquire half of Spectra Fashions.
Sally discovers that Clarke is still involved with Kristen. With Darla and the Spectra gang, she devises a wonderfully soap-operatic trap: they set the clocks forward, fooling Clarke into believing the deadline has passed.
They then catch Clarke and Kristen together on videotape. (Les Bold et Belle)
Sally and Kristen both reject him.
It is one of Sally’s most satisfying victories of the early years.
Sally and Jack
After Clarke, Sally begins developing feelings for Jack Hamilton.
Their relationship mixes genuine affection with Jack’s gambling problems. By the Season 6 finale, Sally believes Jack may be about to propose to her. (TheTVDB)
At the same time, Jack still has a powerful connection with Stephanie, producing yet another triangle.
Sheila turns dangerous
The season finale makes clear that Sheila is no ordinary romantic rival.
Stephanie confidently tells Sheila that Eric will ultimately return to her rather than marry Sheila.
Sheila decides Stephanie must be stopped.

Sheila Carter is the most important crossover of the season. After terrorizing Genoa City from 1990 to 1992 — particularly Lauren Fenmore and Scott Grainger — Sheila is presumed dead following a fire. Instead, she secretly relocates to Los Angeles and establishes a new identity and life around the Forrester family.
Her move to B&B in 1992 represents the first major long-term character transfer between the two Bell soaps. Rather than making a simple guest appearance, Sheila becomes a major B&B character, remaining part of the series for years. (Wikipédia)
Her Y&R history is crucial to the B&B storyline: Sheila had stolen Lauren’s newborn son and switched him with another baby, and Lauren therefore knows exactly how dangerous she is.
Lauren Fenmore — Tracey E. Bregman
Y&R → B&B
Lauren makes her first-ever appearance on The Bold and the Beautiful in September 1992, specifically because Sheila has resurfaced in Los Angeles.
Sources give Lauren’s first B&B appearance as September 17, 1992, followed by another crossover beginning September 24 and continuing into October 1. Lauren ostensibly comes to Los Angeles because of Forrester Creations’ fall fashion show. But the real dramatic purpose is much bigger: Lauren discovers that Sheila Carter is alive.

Sheila’s mother Molly Carter also crosses over from The Young and the Restless after Sheila relocates to Los Angeles.

Deaths
No major regular character dies during Season 6
Despite Sheila’s increasingly dangerous behavior and the violent elements of the Zach/Jack gambling storyline, Season 6 does not contain a major permanent death among the core cast.
The season does contain references to earlier deaths. Most notably, Zach explains that his mother was killed by Ratchet, one of the criminals connected with Jack’s gambling debts. But this is a past death revealed in dialogue, not a death occurring during Season 6. (Les Bold et Belle)
