1987
Late January : Michael shoots a new Pepsi commercial with a special version of the song “Bad”. During the filming he meets 9 years old actor Jimmy Safechuck.
March 10 : MJ replies to a letter from Jimmy Safechuck ans reveals him that he is working a new video for his album and is “very busy”.
December : Michael invites Jimmy Safechuck and his family at have dinner at Hayvenhurst and they all become friends. Later Michael visits Jimmy Safechuck and his family in L.A.
1988
Late January/Early February : Michael takes Jimmy Safechuck and his family to Honolulu. They stay at Kahala Hilton Hotel for three days and they attend Pepsi Bottler’s Convention. Michael also takes them to Disneyworld in Orlando (Florida).
February 5-18 : Rehearsals for the Bad Tour second leg take place at the Pensacola Civic Center in Pensacola (Florida). Michael invites Jimmy Safechuck and his parents to stay with him.
March 9 : Michael attends a performance of “The Phantom Of The Opera” with Jimmy Safechuck, his mother & Liza Minnelli in NYC.
May 19 : Michael arrives in Rome, Italy with Bob Jones, Bill Bray and Jimmy Safechuch. They stay at the Lord Byron Hotel. Michael attends a reception held in his honor at American Embassy, Villa Taverna, a lovely 8-acre estate with beautiful gardens. It’s hosted by Ambassador and Mrs. Max Rabb and Sophia Loren, Gina Lollobrigida, Federico Fellini and Franco Zefferelli are among the guests.
June 25 : Michael invites Jimmy Safechuck and his parents to join him on tour for a few weeks. They check in the Crillon Palace in Paris, France.
July 2 : Michael and an entourage of about 100 people (the whole tour crew) visit Phantasialand in Brühl near Cologne. Among them the Safechuck family.
July 18 : Michael & Jimmy Safechuck visit Elstree Studios where Steven Spielberg is directing “Indiana Jones” and they both meet Harrison Ford.
August 10 : Michael arrives in Nice, France with Jimmy Safechuck. He stays at the Negresco Hotel and goes out very little during his few days on the Côte d’Azur.
1989
May : Michael is seized by armed police after being mistaken for a robber whilst shopping in disguise with Jimmy Safechuck at Zales jewellers in Simi Valley.
September : Wade Robson and his family move to L.A and become regular guests at Neverland.
1992
April 20 : Michael is in Chicago to film the video for Jam featuring Michael Jordan, Kriss Kross and rapper Heavy D. Jimmy Safechuck, Brett Barnes, Macauley Culkin & Wade Robson visit him on the set.
1993
August 10 +11 +12 : Michael starts filming the short film “Is This Scary” directed by Mick Garris at CBS/Radfort Studios in Studio City. James Safechuck and his parents visit Michael on the set and they all pose for a picture together.
When Jordan Chandler’s allegations became public, Safechuck did not accuse Jackson. Available accounts differ over whether investigators formally approached him or his family. Safechuck’s later position is that he remained emotionally bound to Jackson and did not understand himself as a victim.
1994
August 07 : Michael shoots a teaser for his forthcoming album with an army of Russian soldiers. He arrives on the scene around noon, accompanied by his wife Lisa Marie Presley and shaded by a huge raspberry color umbrella being carried by his assistant Jimmy Safechuck.
2003–2005: Jackson criminal proceedings
During the investigation and trial arising from the Gavin Arvizo allegations, Safechuck did not testify. He has said that Jackson’s representatives contacted him about supporting the defence and that he declined. The defence disputes some versions of when he was contacted and what he understood at the time. Jackson was acquitted on all counts on 13 June 2005 in a case concerning different allegations.
2009
Jackson died in Los Angeles on June 25, 2009. Safechuck did not immediately make a public accusation. The defence cites the years of silence as a credibility issue; Safechuck says delayed disclosure is explained by grooming, loyalty, shame and psychological compartmentalisation.
