Speculation is mounting that the highly anticipated Michael Jackson biopic, “Michael,” may face a significant delay. Despite its scheduled release date of October 3, 2025, recent developments at CinemaCon have raised concerns about the film’s timeline. Lionsgate, which is handling domestic distribution (US) for “Michael,” held its CinemaCon panel on April 1, 2025. The studio made major announcements about franchises like “John Wick” and “The Hunger Games,” but surprisingly, “Michael” was barely mentioned. This absence has led to widespread speculation, with many questioning why the film was not promoted at such a high-profile industry event. According to reports, Lionsgate’s Adam Fogelson only briefly acknowledged the film, stating that there would be “more coming soon.” However, no footage, images, or significant updates were provided. This omission has sparked industry chatter, with insiders now suggesting that the film’s release could be pushed to 2026.

EXCLUSIVE: Sources are telling us that Antoine Fuqua’s Michael Jackson biopic Michael, from Lionsgate, with a near four-hour cut, could be split into two movies. That’s an option on the table but not a definite at this time. Will the Graham King production make its October 3 release date? Most likely not. But realize there’s a lot of sign-offs here with Universal handling overseas and Japan sold separately. A key factor also for a concert-like movie of this stature is access to Imax screens. King’s Bohemian Rhapsody, which was about another controversial pop star in Queen’s Freddie Mercury, overcame all obstacles and opened to $51 million stateside and crooned to north of $216M U.S./Canada and $910.8M worldwide with four Oscar wins. Will the movie definitely go to 2026 like InSneider said this AM? Maybe, but nothing is definite or gospel yet. There’s a slight chance Michael could still boogie down the road toward the end of this year for awards season; that isn’t out of the question.

Now I can confirm exclusively that “Michael” will be split into 2 two hour films, and they will be released in 2026. There will not be a release in 2025. My sources in the Michael Jackson world are very excited about these developments because the King of Pop, they say, deserves more attention than any other music star.
Michael Jackson Biopic in Flux as Filmmakers Mull Splitting Movie in Two
Now, King and his fellow filmmakers are mulling a new reality for the project, where the superstar’s onscreen story can be further expanded across two features. But it’s a plan that is in very early stages, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter. King is said to be championing this option. Still, moving from one film to two would require the sign-off from multiple partners, including the Jackson estate, along with Lionsgate, which is releasing the film domestically, and Universal, which is releasing the film internationally. While the plan is still in nascent stages, the film’s Oct. 3 release date would likely be pushed to allow reworking for the new format.
At this year’s CinemaCon presentation on Tuesday afternoon, Lionsgate did not show footage from the movie, and a release date was not mentioned when motion picture group head Adam Fogelson talked about the project : “Ever since we debuted some early Michael footage at CinemaCon last year, it’s been crystal clear how much global interest and enthusiasm there is,” Fogelson said from the Las Vegas stage. “Much has happened since, and while we aren’t quite ready to share more, we’re going to have some very big and exciting things to say in the coming weeks. So be patient, and stay tuned.”

As discovery formally ramps up after years of preliminary motions and procedural delays, both parties have come to a joint proposal for the timeline. According to this schedule:
Written discovery requests may proceed through October 2025
Factual discovery will continue through February 2026
Depositions may be conducted until June 2026
Final discovery submissions are due by July 31, 2026
The next hearing in the case is scheduled for July 11, 2025. As discovery continues, the court will likely revisit the issues of confidentiality, complex case treatment, and the evolving boundaries of what can be shared and with whom.

The mix is Bruce, very Thriller, and the Voc recording is Bruce? This version has no chorus? My journals say I went to Westlake and recorded vocals Jan. 12-13, 1987 which DID have the chorus, because I never heard this without that? Of these Westlake sessions I have zero memory? Then jump to 1988, MJ is on BAD tour, calls me and asks me to “re-do” Streetwalker. I spend a week at Smoketree by myself totally changing it, new tempo, new key, send to MJ, he said “Billy that’s country”. I thought he didn’t like it, story over. Then jump several years and I hear SW released version on YT. I see Q listed as producer so I call Q and say I think I produced that and he says “yeah, ok”. 15 years later I hear Q had a finished SW that he left off BAD and put APOM on instead. And I’m just very confused. Do people have the final Q version? I don’t care just curious.”

I grew up traveling the world because of my father and even though he’s not here physically I’m still fortunate enough to see the world and have the experiences I do because of him. Running into Manny and feeling the love and hearing the stories are beautiful reminders of how lucky I am.

After their former attorney, Howard King, notified Signature Resolution of Frank’s and the Does’ intention to pursue counterclaims against MJC, one of its Officers and other thirdparty beneficiaries of the Agreement in the Arbitration, Respondents replaced King with their current attorney, Mark Geragos.Since taking over the representation of Respondents in this dispute, Attorney Geragos has menacingly warned that his clients are poised to file a public lawsuit in court against one of the Officers of MJC and Co-Executors of the Estate of Michael Jackson and the attorneys involved in the Agreement, who are third party beneficiaries of the Agreement for declaratory relief (a claim
unquestionably subject to arbitration), defamation (based on alleged statements by in the capacity as Co-Executor of the Estate), and a claim for a so-called “cover-up” against the Officer and Co- Executor of the Estate of Michael Jackson and the attorneys involved in the Agreement, the firm of Kinsella Holley and Branca’s firm, Ziffren Brittenham. Since there is no such cause of action, attorney Geragos stated that the “cover-up” claim would be in the form of causes of action for negligent and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Geragos reduced Respondents’ previous outlandish demand for $213 Million to $44 Million, which Geragos demanded on behalf of Respondents be paid in order to avoid a public lawsuit including Respondents’ scurrilous and
fabricated claims.

February 11 : Safechuck is ‘Frivolous’ says the Estate : Michael Jackson’s legacy continues to be a battleground as his companies, MJJ Productions and MJJ Ventures, have responded to the latest round of allegations from James Safechuck. In a recent court filing, the Estate labeled Safechuck’s claims as “frivolous” and pointed out glaring inconsistencies that cast doubt on the credibility of his accusations. In their filing, the companies did not hold back, calling the lawsuit “scurrilous” and “baseless.” They have asked the court to dismiss the case entirely and are seeking reimbursement for the legal fees they’ve incurred defending against what they describe as a smear campaign against the King of Pop.

January 11 : The Jackson Family home Hayvenhurst in the path of the LA Fire
Mandatory evacuation orders were issued Friday evening for a portion of the affluent Brentwood area of Los Angeles as the Palisades Fire rapidly spread. The wildfire, the largest in the Los Angeles region, posed a threat to landmarks such as the Getty Center and extended into parts of the Brentwood and Encino neighborhoods. Authorities ordered evacuations in Encino, leading to the closure of Hayvenhurst Avenue on Friday night. Notably, Hayvenhurst Avenue is home to the iconic Jackson family estate, purchased in 1971 for $250,000 and affectionately named “Hayvenhurst.” The Jackson family resided there for decades, with the remaining members moving out around 2010-2011 to the Calabasas area. Since then, the estate has been used for charity events hosted by Prince Jackson.

They are worried about his health after seeing him too skinny when he takes off his jacket to try the new one. Mesereau gives a speech to state that Michael regrets the settlements he has done on the past. The Jackson family returns to Neverland where Michael has invited the fans and later they all have dinner at the Epihany Restaurant in Santa Barbara.
August 30 : For his 46th birthday, Michael takes all the Jackson family (including Janet, JD, LaToya & Jeffre) to the Noe Restaurant at the Omni Hotel of Los Angeles.
August 16 (Day 1 of pre-trial) : Even though his presence is not complulsory, Michael goes to the Santa Maria courthouse. The new charges indicate a new timeline of allegations + a charge of false emprisonment + abduction of a child with the help of 5 undicted co-conspirators (Schaffel, Wienser, Konitzer, Tyson & Amen) Outside of the court house, Mesereau & Michael give a little speech before returning to Neverland.
April 25 : Michael announces that he has changed his legal team. Mesereau officially takes over Geragos & Brafman. He also decides to get rid of the Nation Of Islam and to go back to Neverland.

January 24 : Michael goes back to Neverland where he gets the visit of Dominic, Eddie & Frank. Because of the trial Michael & Frank are prohibited from having contact so that is the last time that they speak until the verdict day 18 month later!
January 16 : Michael arrives 20 minutes late at the Santa Maria Courthouse where he is formally arraigned. Accompanied by Katherine, Joe, Janet, Jermaine, Tito, Randy, Grace, Karen, Frank Dileo & Leonnard Muhammad. He pleads not guilty to all the charges and judge Rodney Melville imposes a gag order preventing both sides from making public comments about the current case. After going out of the courthouse, Michael gets on the top of his SUV and invites all the fans for an after arraignment party at Neverland!

December 31 : Michael spends New year’s eve at the Coldwater Canyon House with Mark Lester.
December 24 : Michael celebrates Christmas with Prince, Paris, Blanket, Eddie, Aldo & Dominic Jr at the Coldwater Canyon House.
December 20 : Michael returns to Neverland for the first time since it was searched for a private get together entitled “You Are Not Alone” which about 600 friends & family attend (including Janet & LaToya). The event is organised by Grace. Michael attends the celebration surrounded by his parents and siblings. Many friends and family members give speeches of support. Michael also gets to hug his biggest fans like Joanna and Talitha.
Early December : Michael, who does not consider Neverland as his home anymore, moves in a rented mansion named Coldwater Canyon House in Beverly Hills with Grace & the kids.
November 20 : Back to Green Valley Ranch, TV trucks and reporters surround the hotel. Michael and his entourage move again to the Ritz Carlton Hotel on the south-western outskirts of Las Vegas.
November 19 : After destroying his hotel suite Michael is asked to leave the Mirage Hotel with Grace & the Kids. They move to the Green Valley Ranch on the southern outskirts of Las Vegas in Henderson, Nevada. Aldo & Marie Nicole Cascio fly back home to New Jersey.
November 18 : The Number Ones CD & DVD are released in the US. Tom Sneddon chooses this specific day to raid Neverland with a search warrant accompanied by 7O members of the Santa Barbara County Sherriff.

Michael shows up at the end minutes to thank everyone for coming. The party is hosted and broadcast live by KIIS FM. Michael briefly addresses the guests in attendance. Prior to his speech, the “Harvest International Children’s Choir”, along with a host of fans and special guests in attendance, all joined in singing ‘Happy Birthday’ to Michael.

Las Brisas in Acapulco is a village with 263 spacious villas with a pool, spread over several hectares of flowery and lush gardens on a hill overlooking the bay of Acapulco. Michael is a guest of businessman Tony Rullan. Michael goes to Tont Rullan’s nightclub, Enigma, with Brett Ratner and Al Malnik.
Mid March : On his way to to a skateboards shop in Lompoc with his cousins Anthony, Rijo, Elijah & Levon, Michael takes his French fan Joanna with them and kisses her in front of his cousins. Later, back at Neverland they all watch movies together. The day after, Michael leaves Neverland to take a flight to Miami with his kids. Joanna stays at Neverland for a few days without Michael then she leaves.
March 12 : Janet Arvizo calls Franck & Vinnie to ask them to take her children to their grandparent’s in El Monte because they are supposedly sick. The Arvizo family officially moves into Jay Jackson’s appartment and cuts every contact with Michael & his team..
March 9 : On his way back to Neverland, Michael invites several fans that he knows well (Joanna Thomae, Jen Winings, Souhil Giroud & Ahmad Elatab) to spend the day with him at the ranch and on a shopping spree at the local Toys ‘R Us with Franck Cascio and the Arvizo kids. They all witness the complicity between Michael & Gavin. Later Michael’s fans spend the night at Neverland’s theatre.

Backstage, Michael has an argument with Corey Feldman over his plans to write a book on their friendship. September 7 : It’s Michael’s day in New York City ! All the biggest stars of music, films & sport gather to attend his concert at the Madison Square Garden . Michael arrives one hour late with Elizabeth Taylor and during the first part of the show he watches tributes perfomances of his songs by today’s biggest artist in a VIP section with all his family & friends (Joe, Katherine, Rebbie, Macauley Culkin, the Cascios, Gregory Peck, Mark Lester & many more) while other friends such as Liza Minelli or Marlon Brando pay him respect on stage. Prince & Paris are in audience with Omer Bhatti.
After the concert, Michael attends briefly an after party held at the Tavern On The Green where he poses for pictures with many stars including Beyonce from the Destiny’s Child and Yoko Ono.
August 29 : Michael celebrates his 43rd birthday at the Cascio family home in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey.
May : Michael, Frank, Grace & the kids check in the Sheraton Bel Harbour in Miami Beach where Michael completes the recording & mixing of Invincible with Bruce Swedien, Rodney Jerkins & Teddy Riley.
Michael meets comedian Chris Tucker through Gavin Arvizo. Michael & Chris become friends and record a new version of “Don’t Stop Til You Get Enough” for the soundtrack of Rush Hour 2.

June : Michael & the kids go to Geneva, in Switzerland. They stay at the presidential suite on the third floor (central balcony) of the Hotel d’Angleterre, a five-star hotel located on the shores of Lake Geneva. Michael takes Prince & Paris to visit the Chaplin family at the manor of Ban, or the manor of the Champ de Ban estate, located in Corsier-sur-Vevey, a Swiss commune near Lake Geneva. The property is famous for being the residence of Charlie Chaplin for 25 years, from 1952 until his death in 1977.
May 12 : Michael, Grace & the kids leave Monaco and go to London where they visit Mark Lester and his family.

September 6 : The following information was released by Michael’s spokesperson, Raymone K. Bain via his official web site, MJJ Source : “Within 24 hours, Mr. Jackson will be reaching out to other recording superstars asking that they join him in this project to aid victims of Hurricane Katrina. Washington, D.C. ……. In response to the widespread devastation wrought by Hurricane Katrina, Recording Superstar Michael Jackson has been moved to pen a song, with the working title, “From the Bottom of My Heart.” Hoping to rekindle the success of “We Are the World,” which he wrote and produced, and which raised millions of dollars for aid to Africa, Mr. Jackson will be enlisting, within the next 24 hours, the involvement of other recording superstars to join him in this project. It is his intention to record this record within the next two weeks. “It pains me to watch the human suffering taking place in the Gulf Region of my country,” says Mr. Jackson. “My heart and prayers go out to every individual who has had to endure the pain and suffering caused by this tragedy. I will be reaching out to others within the music industry, to join me in helping to bring relief and hope to these resilient people who have lost everything.”
The song will be recorded on 2 Seas Records, a label owned by Prince Abdulla Hamad Alkhalifa of Bahrain. All proceeds from the sale will be donated to the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
January 04 : Michael writes a statement on MJJSource, expressing his sympathy to the victims of the Indian Ocean earthquake, urging friends and fans to contribute towards relief efforts.

December 17 : Michael (accompanied by Karen & Raymone) welcomes 200 unprivilged children to spend the day at Neverland. 50 journalists are also invited including Geraldo Rivero whom Michael thanks for his support.

November 9 : Michael donates a pair of painted shoes for “Shoes for Charity”. A shoe manufacturer named Tatami had the idea to create this charity for children suffering from traumas. Celebrities, including Michael Jackson, gave their donated shoes a special and unique touch by painting them.
2001
April : Michael wraps up conversations with Rabbi Shmuley Boteach about his life, which he started recording in August 2000. These intimate conversations became available in Boteach’s 2009 book. The conversations, free of Boteach’s biased commentary found in the book, are available in the text document. Some time later, Michael & Shmuley have a fallout and Heal The Kids Foundation is dismanttled…

February 14 : Hundreds of fans gather inside Carnegie Hall in New York to welcome Michael to a pre-launch event panel for his new charity ‘Heal The Kids’. The charities main initiative is to help restore a child’s birthright to nurturing care. Michael Jackson’s Heal The World Foundation and The Seminar Center presented a special Valentines Day Extravaganza featuring an all-star pPanel of celebrities and experts. The event takes place at the Carnegie Hall in New York City with Shmuley Boteach & Frank Cascio.
