According to producer Harmony Samuels, the London-born musician who has helmed singles for Ariana Grande, Fifth Harmony and Jennifer Lopez, the process behind “Made For Now” began nearly a year ago, prior to her heading out on her State of the World tour in September 2017. What began as a writing camp among collaborators became the breezy “Made for Now,” a pop-leaning bop with a light tropical hue that removes her from the midnight storm R&B of 2015’s Unbreakable and brings her back to the dance floor.
Now, with the single and video arriving on the heels of her festival run, the 52-year-old is prepping an upcoming EP that includes “Made for Now” and what Samuels describes as songs that call back to her Velvet Rope and Control eras. In the wake of “Made for Now,” he breaks down how he got the gig with Jackson and why he thinks it could put her back in the pop crosshairs.

Fresh from announcing its release and unveiling its cover, Janet has revealed that the cut’s Dave Meyers directed video will arrive simultaneously (on August 17th).
In a press release issued moments ago, it was confirmed that this Friday Janet will be taking to the stage on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ to perform the track.
‘Made For Now’ encourages people to enjoy their lives and seize opportunities today, not worry or wait until tomorrow.
Sonically, it’s touted as being inspired by Janet’s personal love of music from around the globe.
For its Brooklyn shot visual, fans will be transported to a neighborhood dance party filled with cameos from a multitude of international dancers from Ghana, Nigeria, Grenada, Trinidad and the US. All of whom who were hand selected by Janet and her longtime Creative Director Gil Duldulao.
We’re all sorts of buzzed! Song, video, and performance all on the same day?!
After a somewhat tour-focal promo of 2015’s ‘Unbreakable,’ this feels like a welcome return to the all-out, no stone unturned approach promo that Janet herself helped pioneer in the 90s.
Suffice to say, roll on Friday!

According to several sources Janet is filming a new music video this week in New York City.
A wardrobe stylist spilled the beans on social media over the weekend.
“So I worked my first video shoot today (wardrobe). The lady said it was for Jane Jackson. I’m like who tf is that? Turns out it’s Daddy Yankee & JANET JACKSON,” she wrote in the now-deleted Tweet.
Last month, rumors surfaced online about a new song titled “Made For Now”. EST1997.com broke the news. They described the track as “uplifting” that’s “uptempo” and “boasts an island inspired groove.”
According to the song’s registration on publishing website ASCAP Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins is producing the track.
Darkchild and Janet worked together in 2007 on several tracks for the “Discipline” album and in 2009/2010 on several tracks including “Make Me” and “Heartbeat Love” featuring Pitbull.
