3. Main Storylines
3.1. Ridge Forrester Chooses Taylor Hayes Over Brooke Logan
Season 36 opened with Ridge Forrester caught between two women who had dominated his romantic life for decades: Brooke Logan and Taylor Hayes.
The conflict intensified when Brooke became concerned about Thomas Forrester’s behavior around his son, Douglas.
Thomas had been holding a knife while cutting an apple, but Brooke interpreted the situation as potentially threatening.
Shortly afterward, Child Protective Services received a complaint concerning Thomas.
Ridge believed Brooke had made the call, despite her repeated denials.
Unknown to Ridge, Thomas had used a voice-changing application to impersonate Brooke.
The deception convinced Ridge that Brooke had betrayed his family.
In October 2022, Ridge traveled to Aspen, Colorado, where Taylor was staying with Steffy.
He declared his love for Taylor and decided to end his marriage to Brooke.
The official episode archive confirms that Ridge chose Taylor in the October 10, 2022 episode. The Bold and the Beautiful
3.2. Thomas Forrester’s CPS Deception
Thomas’s manipulation became one of the season’s central conflicts.
Determined to reunite his parents, Ridge and Taylor, he used a voice-changing application to make a fraudulent call to Child Protective Services.
The scheme succeeded in driving Ridge away from Brooke.
However, Douglas eventually discovered evidence of the deception.
As Ridge and Taylor prepared to marry in November 2022, Steffy learned the truth.
She interrupted the wedding and exposed Thomas’s actions.
Ridge was devastated by his son’s manipulation.
Taylor and Ridge’s wedding was abandoned, and Thomas faced serious consequences within his family and at Forrester Creations.
3.3. Brooke Logan and Taylor Hayes Become Friends
Following the collapse of Taylor’s wedding to Ridge, Brooke and Taylor reached an unexpected understanding.
Rather than continuing their decades-long rivalry, they decided to reject the romantic competition that had repeatedly damaged their lives.
The two women developed a genuine friendship.
They spent time together, supported each other emotionally and agreed that neither should sacrifice her happiness for Ridge.
Their friendship represented a significant departure from the traditional Brooke–Taylor rivalry.
However, the relationship became increasingly complicated when Ridge returned and renewed his interest in Brooke.
By June 2023, Brooke and Ridge had reconciled, effectively ending the unusual friendship between the two former rivals.
3.4. Sheila Carter Escapes Justice
Sheila Carter continued to terrorize the Forrester and Finnegan families.
Although she had previously been presumed dead, Sheila was alive and hiding with Deacon Sharpe.
Their relationship developed into an unlikely romance.
Meanwhile, Sheila remained obsessed with her biological son, Finn, and her desire to become part of his family.
In December 2022, Sheila was discovered alive.
Bill Spencer unexpectedly intervened on her behalf, shocking his family and friends.
Bill claimed to be romantically involved with Sheila and used his influence to secure her freedom.
However, the relationship was eventually revealed to be part of an undercover operation.
Bill had been secretly working with Ridge Forrester and the FBI to obtain a confession from Sheila.
In March 2023, Sheila confessed to past crimes while Bill recorded her.
She attempted to escape but was arrested.
The storyline concluded with Sheila in prison, although her incarceration did not last permanently.
3.5. Bill Spencer and Ridge Forrester’s Secret Alliance
Bill and Ridge had traditionally been bitter rivals, particularly over Brooke Logan.
Season 36 unexpectedly brought them together.
The two men collaborated with the FBI to bring Sheila Carter to justice.
Bill pretended to be in love with Sheila and isolated himself from his family to maintain his cover.
His behavior alarmed Liam, Wyatt, Katie and Brooke.
Ridge secretly monitored the operation from an FBI surveillance facility.
The truth was revealed in March 2023.
Although the plan succeeded in securing Sheila’s confession, her later release undermined the family’s hopes of finally being free from her.
3.6. Hope Logan Develops Feelings for Thomas Forrester
Hope Logan’s professional relationship with Thomas became increasingly complicated.
Despite Thomas’s history of manipulation, Hope gradually began to see him differently.
The two collaborated on the Hope for the Future fashion line.
Their creative partnership was successful, but Hope found herself increasingly attracted to Thomas.
She initially resisted these feelings because she was married to Liam Spencer.
Liam remained deeply suspicious of Thomas and feared that Hope was becoming emotionally involved with him.
The situation reached a turning point during a business trip to Rome in June 2023.
Hope kissed Thomas, unaware that Liam was watching.
The kiss devastated Liam and precipitated the collapse of their marriage.
3.7. Liam and Hope Spencer’s Marriage Collapses
Liam had repeatedly expressed concerns about Thomas’s involvement in Hope’s life.
His fears appeared justified when he witnessed Hope kissing Thomas in Rome.
Liam confronted Hope and declared that their marriage was over.
Hope initially attempted to explain her behavior but eventually acknowledged that her feelings for Thomas were genuine.
Liam became increasingly focused on Steffy, his former wife.
He kissed Steffy twice, complicating her marriage to Finn.
Meanwhile, Hope began a sexual relationship with Thomas.
By the end of Season 36, Hope and Liam were separated, and Hope was pursuing a relationship with Thomas despite opposition from her family.
3.8. Steffy and Finn’s Marriage Is Threatened
Steffy and Finn had survived Sheila Carter’s previous attempts to destroy their family.
However, Sheila’s continued presence created new tensions.
Finn struggled with his complicated feelings toward his biological mother.
Steffy remained determined to keep Sheila away from their children.
In July 2023, Sheila unexpectedly saved Kelly Spencer from drowning at the beach.
Finn was grateful, but Steffy was horrified when she learned that Sheila had been near Kelly.
Steffy began to question whether Finn could protect their family from Sheila.
The crisis intensified when Liam expressed his continued love for Steffy.
By September 2023, Steffy had temporarily left Los Angeles with the children to protect them from Sheila.
3.9. Douglas Forrester’s Custody Battle
Douglas became the center of a bitter dispute involving Hope, Thomas and Steffy.
Thomas wanted his son to live with him, while Hope believed Douglas should remain in the home she shared with Liam.
The conflict intensified following Thomas’s manipulation of the CPS investigation.
In February 2023, Douglas was given the opportunity to express his preference regarding his living arrangements.
Rather than choosing Hope or Thomas, he decided to live with his aunt Steffy.
The decision shocked both parents.
Douglas eventually returned to Hope’s household, although his relationship with Thomas remained important.
By September 2023, Douglas was encouraging Hope and Thomas to become a family.
3.10. Katie Logan and Carter Walton’s Romance
Katie Logan and Carter Walton developed a romantic relationship following the end of Carter’s involvement with Quinn Fuller.
Katie had repeatedly struggled with her feelings for Bill Spencer.
However, Bill’s apparent relationship with Sheila Carter convinced Katie that she needed to move forward.
Carter offered emotional stability and affection.
Their relationship gradually became more serious.
Even after Bill revealed that his involvement with Sheila had been part of an undercover operation, Katie remained committed to Carter.
3.11. RJ Forrester Returns to Los Angeles
Ridge Forrester Jr., commonly known as RJ, returned to Los Angeles in April 2023.
The character had been absent for several years.
RJ initially resisted pressure to join the family fashion business.
However, he gradually became involved in Forrester Creations.
His return introduced a younger generation into the company’s internal conflicts.
By September 2023, RJ was helping his grandfather Eric Forrester design a new fashion collection.
His collaboration with Eric placed him in the middle of a growing rivalry between Eric and Ridge.
3.12. Eric Forrester Challenges Ridge
Toward the end of Season 36, Eric became increasingly frustrated with his diminished role at Forrester Creations.
He felt that Ridge and the younger generation no longer appreciated his contributions to the company he had founded.
Eric decided to create a new fashion collection with RJ’s assistance.
Ridge questioned his father’s ability to continue designing at the highest level.
Their disagreement evolved into a competition between father and son.
This storyline became one of the principal foundations for Season 37.
3.13. Luna Nozawa Arrives at Forrester Creations
Luna Nozawa arrived in September 2023 as a young fashion student seeking experience at Forrester Creations.
She quickly became involved in Eric and RJ’s secret design project.
Although initially presented as an enthusiastic newcomer, Luna was surrounded by mystery.
