1995

January : Victor Gutierrez, serves as a primary source for a segment Diane Dimond runs on MJ in which she falsely reports that there was tape of Jackson sexually abusing a young boy Gutierrez claimed was one of Jackson’s nephews. This new controversy leads to MJ sue both Dimond and Gutierrez for the false claims.While Dimond iss able to get out of the lawsuit due to her status as a journalist who was just simply “reporting what she had been told,” in 1996 MJ successfully wins his lawsuit against Gutierrez, who never produced any evidence of having this so-called tape in his possession.

January 11 : MJ releases a statement saying : “I will no longer stand by and watch reckless members of the media try to destroy my reputation.”….The statement is a response to unsubstantiated rumors of a video depicting Jackson fooling around with a young boy (his cousin) at Neverland.

1996

June 7 : Evan Chandler sues Jackson for around $60 million, claiming Jackson had breached an agreement never to discuss the case “in his interview with Diane Sawyer and in the lyrics of a song from the HIStory album”. In 1998, at age 18, Jordan files a complaint against Jackson for the same reason.The arbitrations are consolidated. In 1999, a court rules in Jackson’s favor and threw out the lawsuit.

2003

February 06 : Jordy Chandler’s 1993 deposition is leaked on the Smoking Gun website which create a new controversy.

2005

April 11 : June Chandler testifies at the Santa Maria trial : Under cross-examination, Chandler conceded that her son, now 25, hasn’t spoken to her in 11 years. Her friends say that the boy’s father has convinced him that she was responsible for all his problems.

2009

November 05 : 14 weeks after Jackson’s death, Evan Chandler is found dead from suicide. At the time of his death, Evan was “extremely ill” with cancer and was estranged from his family and Jordan.

2019

September 28 : Square One: Michael Jackson is a 2019 investigative documentary directed by Danny Wu is released. It focuses on the 1993 case in which Michael Jackson was accused of molesting Jordan Chandler. Through interviews with people closest to the case. The film features interviews with Jackson’s nephew Taj Jackson, three women who were on the 2003 witness list in People v. Jackson, and short-lived legal secretary to Barry Rothman, Geraldine Hughes and journalist Charles Thomson. The film makes a case for Jackson’s innocence, portraying him as a victim of tabloid journalism. Square One is made available in an enhanced version on Amazon Prime Video on May 7, 2020, in the US and the UK and worldwide on June 12.
