Michael Jackson’s ‘Second Family’ Shows Up in Court for Sex Abuse Settlement Hearing : Four siblings who allege they were abused by Michael Jackson as children were in the courtroom as a judge indicated that they likely won’t be able to sue the King of Pop’s estate due to an earlier settlement. Frank, Aldo, Marie-Nicole and Dominic Cascio, along with their parents, traveled to Los Angeles for a Wednesday (Jan. 14) hearing in their legal battle with the Jackson estate. Along with their brother Eddie, the four Cascio siblings spent much of their childhoods with Jackson and were considered his “second family.” Judge Michael E. Whitaker appeared likely to side with the Jackson estate, writing in a tentative ruling that the evidence submitted by Frank Cascio “does not support his characterization that he was forced to sign the agreement on a take-it-or-leave-it basis.” The judge said he’ll likely shut the door on litigation and order the parties into arbitration, though he wants to think it over some more before issuing a final decision. The Cascio family sat in the courtroom gallery throughout the arguments, and at least one sibling grew visibly emotional during the hearing. Lionsgate and Universal (which is overseeing international distribution) believe there’s enough material for at least one more movie. The studios suggest roughly 30% of the material that was jettisoned from “Michael” could be reconstituted for potential sequels. It’s unclear how future films would handle the legal battles and abuse allegations that consumed much of Jackson’s final years. Studio Boss Says ‘Michael’ Sequel Could Start Filming As Early As This Year : “In an interview on The Town With Matt Beloni podcast this week, Lionsgate vice chair Adam Fogelson said it’s possible a sequel could start filming this year or next. “There is a massive amount of music, some of his greatest music, and life experiences separate and apart from [sexual abuse] allegations, a ton of that would fill more than a second movie on its own.“And there are giant albums left and we just one song out of, you know, Bad as the end of the first movie, the [1993] Super Bowl [halftime show, which was included in the original script] which has been talked about, the first Super Bowl halftime show that literally changed the Super Bowl and he NFL and I’m not guaranteeing any of these moments are or not in,” Fogelson said. “I’m just saying there’s a huge portion of his life separate and apart from allegations.”
