May 14 : Rebbie attends Katherine & Joe 60th wedding anniversary at an Indian restaurant in Beverly Hills with the whole family (Jackie, LaToya, Tito, Jermaine, Janet, Marlon, Michael and their children). Randy is the only one not attending. This is the last time Michael sees most of his family.
June 25 : Rebbie learns from Katherine the tragic news that Michael has just died from cardiac arrest. Rebbie goes to UCLA Medical Center where she gets to see Michael’s body. Prince, Paris and Blanket are taken to Hayvenhurst with Katherine, LaToya, Austin, Jermaine, Halima, Randy & Tito join them. At night Rebbie goes to Michael’s Carolwood home with LaToya, Jeffré Phillips, Ron Boud, Katherine, Trent. Janet joins them.
Rebbie moves to Hayvenhurst for the summer to support Katherine.
July 06 : The Jackson family has a private open coffin viewing of Michael’s body at Forest Lawn cemetary with Karen Faye and Michael Bush’ s help to make Michael look beautiful for eternity.
July 07 : The whole Jackson family and friends attend a private memorial early in the morning at Forest Lawn cemetary. Then they go to the public memorial at the Staples Center in downtown L.A. The tribute show is aired live all around the world. At the end, the Jackson family and all the artist perform “We Are The World” and “Heal The World” with Prince, Paris and Blanket. Paris ends the tribute with a moving speech calling Michael “the best daddy you could ever imagine” before breaking in Janet’s arms. Following the memorial at Staples, the family has a lunch reception at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel ballroom with a couple hundred of their nearest and dearest friends.
August 3 : Katherine goes to the Los Angeles Superior Court with Rebbie, LaToya and Randy where the judge names her permanent guardian of Prince, Paris & Blanket.The Judge also grants visitation rights for Debbie Rowe as well as spousal support based on the agreement she struck with Michael several years ago.
September 03 : Michael is finally buried in The Great Mausoleum at Glendale Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, CA. The service is attended by approximately 200 family and close friends. The pallbearers are Michael’s five brothers : Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon and Randy Jackson. At the beginning of the ceremony, Prince, Paris & Blanket put a crown on their father’s coffin to signify the final resting place of the King of Pop. The opening prayer is delivered by Pastor Lucius Smith. Gladys Knight sings the gospel hymn “His Eye Is on the Sparrow,” accompanied by Greg Phillinganes. Songwriter Clifton Davis sings The Jackson 5 song “Never Can Say Goodbye,” Following the funerals the family and the guests go to Villa Sorriso Ristorante — an Italian restaurant in Pasadena.
October 27 : Katherine, Rebbie, Latoya, Randy & Janet decline an invitation to the “This Is It” premiere in L.A.
November 24 : The whole family gathers at Hayvenhurst to have pre-Thanksgiving dinner with Prince, Paris & Blanket.
