MJ on stage : Off The Wall era (1979-1981)


November 12, 1980 : Michael attends Stevie Wonder Hotter Than July’s Tour at Madison Square Garden in New York City. At the end of the concerts, he is invited on stage by Stevie and sings “Master Blaster” with Stevie and Gil Scott-Heron.

February 5, 1981 : During a Diana Ross concert in Los Angeles, Michael gets on stage to sing “Upside Down” with her!


December 17, 1979 . Michael performs “Don’t Stop ‘Till You Get Enough” at the New Age club in Oakland, California. Taped for the Soul Beat Network.

January 18, 1980 : Michael attends The American Music Awards in L.A where he is presented with three awards for “Off The Wall” and he presents one to the Bee Gees.

January 27, 1980 : Michael attends the NAACP Awards where The Jacksons receive the Image Award for best singing group of the year.

January 29, 1980 : Michael performs Rock With You at a UNICEF benefit concert called « Because We Care » and hosted by Julie Andrews for Cambodian relief at the Dorothy Chandler Pavillon at the Music Center in Los Angeles. Later he attends an after party with John Travolta.The show airs on CBS on February 5, 1980.

March 6, 1980 : Michael performs When You Wish Upon A Star and Ease On Down The Road in Disneyland for a Disney Channel Special celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Magic Kingdom.

January 30, 1981 : Michael attends the American Music Awards where he receives three awards for Off The Wall (one of them is presented by sister LaToya) and he also pays tribute to Chuck Berry. Diana Ross is his date for the evening.

March 2, 1981 :  CBS airs a Diana Ross’s TV Special featuring Michael. Together, they perform Upside Down, Rock With You & Ease On Down The Road (with Quincy Jones on the piano).
