Austin Brown : 11 years old and spending my Christmas vacation from school at the ranch. Doodoo comes in and hands me a gift after saying, I hope you don’t already have this. Inside is a portable DVD/CD player with movies and music that he said I should check out and study. In there is Purple Rain the movie and a Guns N’ Roses live. I don’t know how in the world he knew this was going to help shape my mindset musically but it forever did. He was such a brilliant artist but also saw the brilliance in others. Right there encapsulated, including his massive influence is my outlook on music. Side note he also was the first person to play me the Chronic and talk about Dr Dre’s drums and mixes.
