January 2 : CBS airs a TV Special for Number Ones featuring many young artists speaking about Michael’s influence.

January 5 : LaToya is a guest on Cristina TV Show.

January 12 : While Jermaine gives a press conference outside Hayvenhurst to organize fans’ support, Mark Geragos hosts a big meeting of Michael’s team at the Beverly Hills Hotel attended by Charles Koppleman, Leonard Muhammad, Al Malnik, John Branca, Alan Whitman, Zia Modabber & Kevin Mac Lin.

Marc Schaffel & Dieter Wiesner have lunch with Debbie Rowe at the Ivvy restaurant to talk about her children.

January 15 : Geragos announces that Michael & him have hired top criminal layer Benjamin Brafman.

Gloria Allred asks the Department of Child & Family Services of Los Angeles to remove Michael’s children from his care.

January 16 : Michael arrives 20 minutes late at the Santa Maria Courthouse where he is formally arraigned. Accompanied by Katherine, Joe, Janet, Jermaine, Tito, Randy, Grace, Karen, Frank Dileo & Leonnard Muhammad. He pleads not guilty to all the charges and judge Rodney Melville imposes a gag order preventing both sides from making public comments about the current case.

After going out of the courthouse, Michael gets on the top of his SUV and invites all the fans for an after arraignment party at Neverland!

January 24 : Social workers from the Department of Child & Family Services of Los Angeles go to Michael’s rented mansion in Beverly Hills to talk with Prince, Paris, Blanket & Grace.

Michael goes back to Neverland where he gets the visit of Dominic, Eddie & Frank.

Because of the trial Michael & Frank are prohibited from having contact so that is the last time that they speak until the verdict day 18 month later!

January 29 : Janet attends a Super Bowl XXXVIII halftime show press conference in Houston, Texas, along with Nelly, Kid Rock, and P. Diddy.

January 30 :Janet and JD attend Maxim Magazine’s “Circus Maximus” party at an undisclosed ranch in Stafford (Texas)

January 31 : The police searches the houses of Marc Schaffel & his assistant Christian Robinson.

February 1 : Janet performs “All For You” & “Rhythm Nation” during the Superbowl Halftime Show and then Justin Timberlake appears on the stage to perform “Rock Your Body” with Janet. Following the line, “better have you naked by the end of this song,” Justin ripps off the fabric that was covering Janet’s right breast.

Virtually seconds after performing at the Super Bowl halftime show, Virgin Records releases a press release officially announcing that Janet’s new album, “Damita Jo,” will be released in the on March 30th.

Michael, who stays with Grace & the children at his friend Ron Burkle’s house in La Jolla, watches his sister Janet’s performance  on TV.

February 2 : “Just A Little While” is sent to radios & released digitally as the 1t single from “Damita Jo”. It peaks at #45 on Hot 100 Billboard.

Janet’s breast exposure soon nicknamed the “Nipplegate” causes a huge controversy in the US . CBS, NFL & MTV are furious against Janet & Justin.

Janet goes home to Los Angeles and releases a written statement to apologize.

February 3 : Janet makes a photoshoot with Beyonce & Mary J Blige for an upcoming cover of Essence Magazine. She also releases a short video statement concerning the Nipplegate.

NARAS, the group that distributes the Grammy awards informs Janet that they no longer need her to present an award to Luther Vandross during the ceremony.

February 6 : Upset over what he considers the unfair treatment of Janet by NARAS,  JD announces at a press confererence that he is resigning as president of the group’s Atlanta chapter.

February 7 : Michael hires Raymone Bain as new official Spokesperson.

February 10 : While she is finishing work on her new album with Lewis & Jam in their Los Angeles Studio, Janet gives her first interview after the Nipplegate to Ebony Magazine.

February 13 : Janet & JD attend a private gala at the Beverly Hills Hotel where Lewis & Jam present Janet an award from Behind the Bench, an association of wives of NBA players, for her humanitarian and charitable contributions.

Michael hosts a party for Prince’s 7th birthday with Grace & the children at his friend Ron Burkle’s house in La Jolla.

Geragos & Brafman go to Santa Maria Courthouse where they obtain a delay of the prelimiary hearing to have more time to study the prosecution case.

February 14 : Janet  & JD attend the Maxim Magazine Valentines Day Love Party at PaPaz Nightclub in Los Angeles.

February 15 : Janet and JD attend the NBA All-Star basketball game at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

February 23 : A spokeswoman for Janet confirms that she has been dis-invited from playing an ABC biopic about Lena Horne by Horne herself and her daughter Gail Lumet Buckley, who were incensed by the Nipplegate.

March : Michael’s new official website MJJ SOURCE is launched.

Sneddon sets a Grand Jury proceeding to avoid the preliminary hearing.

March 1 : Janet is on the cover of Ebony Magazine.

She rehearses the choreography of “Just a Little While” with Gil & the new Kids.

March 10 : Janet & the Kids tape performances of “Just A Little While” on French TV Shows Vivement Dimanche, Le Grand Classement & Hit Machine before leaving for London.

March 11 : In London, Janet tapes an interview for MTV TRL and then she tapes a performance of  JALW at Top Of The Pops Saturday. In the evening, she attends a listening party of “Damita Jo.”

March 12 : Janet performs JALW live on TOTP.

March 14 : Janet & the kids fly back to Los Angeles.

March 15 : Janet is on the cover of V magazine with exclusives new pictures.

March 16 : The “I Want You” video is premiered on BET.

March 19 : The Department of Child & Family Services of Los Angeles refuses to remove Michael’s children from his care.

March 20 : Janet & JD attend the Soul Train Awards  where she is presented with the Quincy Jones Award for outstanding career achievement.

Following the ceremony, Janet & JD  attend a CD release party titled “A Night With Janet Damita Jo Jackson” at Morton’s in West Hollywood with Jermaine, Jackie & rebbie Jackson, Jimmy Jam, Usher Deborah Gibson, Macy Gray, Andy Dick, Vivica A. Fox, and Antonio Sabato Jr among others.

March 23 : Janet wears a t-shirt with the words “fuck off” adorned on it while dining at the Ivy restaurant in Beverly Hills with JD.

March 24 : Janet tapes interviews for Extra, Access Hollywood & Entertainment Tonight.

March 25 : Secret Jury selection is completed in Santa Barbara.

Michael files a lawsuit in US District Court in Los Angeles to regain possessions that were sold to a European buyer by Henry Vaccaro.

March 25-27 : Janet & the Kids rehearse the choreography of All Nite.

March 29 : Prosecutor Ron Zonen gives his opening statement during the first day of a Grand Jury proceeding where neither Michael nor his lawyers have the rights to appear. Members of the media are also prohibitted from attending.

In NYC, Janet tapes interviews for 1O6 & Park on BET and Late Night With David Letterman.

In the evening, Janet & JD attend a “Damita Jo” release party at the Spice Market restaurant with Courtney Love, Patti LaBelle, MC Lyte, boxer Lennox Lewis, Ja Rule, fashion designer Betsey Johnson, Brian McKnight, recent presidential candidate Al Sharpton, Nick Cannon, Island Def Jam President L.A. Reid and Ice-T among others.

March 30 : The album “Damita Jo” is released worldwide.

Gavin & Star Arvizo testify before the Grand Jury.

Michael visits the office of the Republican Congressman, Chaka Fatah, in Washington, which Fatah stated to the press “Michael Jackson has been the main inspiration and motivation for my involvement in the issue of safe blood for Africa”.

March 31 : Early in the morning and live from the Battery Park in Manhattan, Janet performs “All Nite” & “I Want You” on Good Morning America and she gives a short interview to Diane Sawyer.

Later she makes a photoshoot for Blender magazine.

In the afternoon , Janet signs copies of “Damita Jo” at the HMV in Harlem with JD & Gil by her side.

After that they fly back to Los Angeles.

Michael returns for the second day to Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., this time as a guest of Congresswoman Sheila Jackson-Led, to speak with several members of Congress about his commitments to fighting the AIDS epidemic in Africa.

April 1 : Janet & the Kids rehearse for the Ryan Seacrest Show.

Michael is presented with a special award from the African Ambassadors’ wives at the Ethiopian Embassy in Washington D.C. in honour of his worldwide humanitarian efforts, and particularly for his work in fighting AIDS in Africa (Grace attends the presentation).

April 2 : Live from Hollywood, Janet performs “All Nite” & “I Want You” on the Ryan Seacrest Show and she cries when Ryan reunites her with her childhood best friend Kendal Seidel.

Geragos & Brafman go to Santa Maria courthouse where they obtain the Arvizo family court documents in the JC Penney case.

Judge Lachs refuses visitation rights to Debbie but he accepts to nullify her 2001 decision to give up her parental tights which sets a new battle between Michael & Debbie’s attorneys.

April 03 : Michael hosts a big party for Paris’s 6th birthday.

Janet, JD & the Kids fly back to New York to rehearse for Saturday Night Live.

April 5 : “I Want You” is released as the second single from “Damita Jo”. It peaks #57 on Hot 100 Billboard.

April 6 : Janet gives an interview to New York radio station Z 100.

April 8 : Janet poses for publicity photos  along with “SNL” cast member Jimmy Fallon and “American Idol” judge Simon Cowell, who will appear as a special guest on the show.

Michael, Grace & the kids go to Orlando to visit theme parks.

April 10 : Live from New York , Janet is the star of Saturday Night Live on NBC. Aside from the many sketches, she performs “All Nite” & “Strawberry Bounce”.

After the show, Janet attends an after party with JD.

April 11 : Medias report the allegations of Daniel Kapon, a young man who claims to have been abused by Michael when he was a kid. It turns out that the Santa Barbara Police Department did not find him credible and closed this case after investigating it.

April 16/17 : Back in L.A, Janet & the Kids shoot the video for “All Nite” directed by Francis Lawrence.

April 21 : Michael who is is a rented mansion in Orlando learns that he has been indicted by the Grand Jury in Santa Barabara. He asks Randy to intervene quickly.

Janet tapes an interview on the Ellen DeGeneres Show and with the help of Gil teaches Ellen the choreography for “All Nite”

April 24 : Randy hosts a meeting at Michael’s house in Orlando with his civil lawyer Brian Oxman and top criminal lawyer Thomas Mesereau Jr.

April 25 : Michael announces that he has changed his legal team. Mesereau officially takes over Geragos & Brafman. He also decides to get rid of the Nation Of Islam and to go back to Neverland.

April 29 : In Burbank, Janet peforms “All Nite” on Tonight With Jay Leno and she kisses him on the mouth.

April 30 : Michael arrives on time at the Santa Maria Courthouse with Katherine, Joe, Grace, Randy, Jackie, Mesereau, Oxman & Raymone Bain.

He pleads not guilty to 10 counts retained by the Grand Jury. The new charges indicate a new timeline of allegations + a charge of false emprisonment + abduction of a child with the help of 5 undicted co-conspirators (Schaffel, Wienser, Konitzer, Tyson & Amen) Outside of the court house, Mesereau & Michael give a little speech before returning to Neverland.

May 1 : LaToya attends the 130th Running of the Kentucky Derby in Louisville, Kentucky.

May 4 : While giving an interview on CHUM FM in Toronto Janet announces that her upcoming concert tour will begin on September 17 inVancouver.
Later she gives another radio interview to Flow FM and finally she performs “All Nite” & “I Want You” on Much Music TV show and Just A Little While on Much Demand.

May 5 : Janet performs “All Nite” & “I Want You” on AM and then she flies to NYC to tape an interview on Late Night With Conan O Brian.

May 13 : The “All Nite” video is premiered.

May 14 : Janet tapes a performance of “All For You”, “Just A Little While”, “All Nite” & “I Want You” at MSNBC Studios in New York City.

May 15 : Janet performs “All Nite” & “All For You” at the Wango Tango Festival at the Rose Bowl in in Pasadena.

May 16 : JD hosts up a surprise birthday party for Janet with 50 friends and family members in L.A.

May 18 : Janet & JD arrive in Tokyo, Japan.

May 23 : Janet performs JALW at Hey Hey Hey Show.

September 16 (Day 6) : The pre- trial resumes in Santa Maria .

Mesereau gives a speech to state that Michael regrets the settlements he has done on the past.

The Jackson family returns to Neverland where Michael has invited the fans and later they all have dinner at the Epihany Restaurant in Santa Barabara.

September 22 : Will & Grace’s episode featuring Janet is aired on NBC.

October 4 : Michael’s lawyers present a motion to withdraw Tom Sneddon from the case because of his too personal involvment.
October 12 : Michael calls the Steve Harvey Morning Radio Show to ask TV networks not to air Eminem new video which makes fun of him. BET accepts but not MTV which creates a new controversy.

October 13 : Rita Cosby visits Hayvehurst and tapes an interview with Alejandra, Genevieve, Randy Jr, Donte, Jaafar & Jermahesty for the CBS Early show

October 14 : Michael’s layers go to the Santa Maria Courthouse where Judge Melville refuses to withdraw the case and to suppress any elements taken during the search of Neverland and Brad Millers’ offIce.

December 17 : Michael (accompanied by Karen & Raymone) welcomes 200 unprivilged children to spend the day at Neverland. 50 journalists are also invited including Geraldo Rivero whom Michael thanks for his support.
December 20 : During a hearing at the Santa Maria Courthouse, Judge Melville refuses defense request to delay the trial for 6 weeks.
