RECORDING DATE
The song is a cover, originally by John Williams who scored the track for Home Alone 2: Lost In New York, from 1992. Michael wanted to record it during the summer of 1994, and had the entire studio transformed into a winter wonderland; fake snow, twinkling lights, a Christmas tree, Michael even bought presents for everyone. The song was also to feature a children’s choir, which a video of the choir, as well as the instrumental, leaked online in 2023 when Brad Sunberg’s laptop was stolen from one of his seminars. Apparently the track was never finished because Michael, after getting presents, turning the studio into Santa’s grotto, and recording a children’s choir for the track, simply lost interest in it, and moved on.
