HISTORY ERA RECORDINGS 1993-1995

AIN’T NO DOUBT ABOUT IT : One of the many songs that were put up for the failed auction on http://gottahaverockandroll.com before the estate took it down. Recorded in 1994, it’s unknown if Michael recorded vocals for the song or not. Although during the auction, it said it included vocals, but other sources, like the US Copyright Office, say otherwise. SONG NEVER CONFIRMED.

AN INNOCENT MAN : The song was mentioned during the Mexico Deposition, in November of 1993. Although only a few vocals are known to have been recorded, the handwritten lyrics by Michael are available. Damien Shields : “Innocent Man has vocals in the chorus, which are the same as the lyrics from his handwritten notes. There are no verses on what I heard, but MJ did write additional lyrics. So I’m not sure if he recorded them and I just didn’t hear them, or if he didn’t record them. P.S. The vocals in the chorus are very softly sung. It’s not falsetto, but it’s super soft. The antithesis of an “aggressive” vocal. Considering the subject of the song, I was surprised about the vocal delivery. I was expecting angry MJ.” The song was registered with the US Copyright Office in 2010, with Brad Buxer credited as the producer. Perhaps the song was being reworked on during the time, maybe for the Michael album. On August 7, 2025, a high-quality snippet was leaked by KaiMakesMusic. A second, longer snippet was uploaded by Legend Zx1 through Discord on August 28, 2025. The full demo remains unreleased.

Childhood

CHRISTMAS STAR : The song is a cover, originally by John Williams who scored the track for Home Alone 2: Lost In New York, from 1992. Michael wanted to record it during the summer of 1994, and had the entire studio transformed into a winter wonderland; fake snow, twinkling lights, a Christmas tree, Michael even bought presents for everyone. The song was also to feature a children’s choir, which a video of the choir, as well as the instrumental, leaked online in 2023 when Brad Sunberg’s laptop was stolen from one of his seminars. Apparently the track was never finished because Michael, after getting presents, turning the studio into Santa’s grotto, and recording a children’s choir for the track, simply lost interest in it, and moved on.
