2009

June 24 : Michael goes to the Staples Center where he meets with the production team to finalize some visual elements of the show. Afterwards, he attends a meeting about a planned Halloween TV special scheduled to air on October 31, 2009 on CBS, featuring footage of “Thriller” and “Threatened” from the shows. Later, MJ rehearses three songs: “Thriller”, “Threatened”, and “Earth Song”.

2008

August 28 : From his home in Las Vegas, Michael gives a telephone interview to Chris Connolly, which airs on ABC’s ‘Good Morning America’ the following day.

January 26 : Michael accepts an award celebrating the 25th anniversary of Thriller in a pre-recorded video message aired during the NRJ Awards ceremony on French TV network TF1.

2006

November 15 : Michael attends the World Music Awards ceremony at Earl Court where Beyonce presents him with the Diamond Award for the Thriller sales and he performs a few lines of “We Are The World’ for the final.

October 15 : Michael agrees to let US journalist Billy Bush from Access Hollywood visit him at the Grouse Lodge residential recording studios in County Westmeath where he is working on new music with producer Will I AM (aired on NBC on November 2/3)

May 31 : Michael makes a surprise appearance on SMAP×SMAP, a television variety show in Tokyo, Japan at Wangan Studio, briefly interviewing with the cast about his stay in Japan.

May 27 : Michael (accompanied by Raymone) attends the MTV Japan Awards ceremony at Yoyugi Olympic Stadium in Tokyo where he is presented with the MTV Legend Award.

2005

January 30 : Michael releases a video statement approved by Judge Melville.

January 19 : After the leaks of the Grand Jury transcripts to the media, Judge Melville gives Michael permission to react. He gives an interview to Geraldo Rivera (the interview airs on Fox News on February 5, 2005).

2004

November 16 : Michael makes a phone call Geraldo Riveira on MTV Rally in New York to thank his fans and speak against the Eminem video.

2003

December 25 : From the Beverly Hills Hotel, Michael gives an interview to Ed Bradley (shown on CBS’s 60 minutes 3 days later) in the presence of Mark Geragos, Leonard Muhammad & Grace.

November 15 : Michael is honored for his contribution to racial harmony at the third Power Of Oneness Awards held at the Globe Theater at Universal Studios in Los Angeles. He accepts the Power of Oneness Lifetime Achievement Award via satellite because he is busy shooting the video for “One More Chance” in Las Vegas.

October 27 : During the Radio Music Awards in Las Vegas, Beyonce presents MJ with the Humanitarian Award.

June 24 : Michael makes a surprise appearance at the BET Awards at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood to present James Brown with a Lifetime Achievement Award.

April 24 : Michael Jackson “Private Home Movies” airs on Fox TV. Michael hosts this two-hour special from his movie theatre in Neverland.

February 20 : “TAKE 2 : The Footage You Were Not Meant To See” is aired on FOX TV. It includes the outtakes of the Bashir interview & the interviews of Debbie, the Jackson family, Karen Faye, Hamid Moslehi & Jamie Massada. The Arvizo family interview is not included after all.

February 3 : “Living With Michael Jackson”, the Martin Bashir Documentary is premiered in on ITV.

2002

December 23 : Michael makes a Christmas televised message via The German channel ZDF to his fans and the world asking us to not only love but to care for those in need and continue to help him in his efforts to HEAL THE WORLD for children.

December 9 : Live from Neverland, Chris Tucker presents Michael a special award to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Thriller during the Billboard Awards.

November 21 : Michael attends the Bambi Awards with Wiesner & Bashir where Boris Becker presents him the Pop Artist Of The Millenium award. During the ceremony, the video for “What More Can I Give” is premiered.

November 2 : Michael accepts the World Arts Awards through a recorded video message during the World Awards For Men in Vienna. Michael couldn’t accept the award personally but sent a video message which was announced by Mikhail Gorbachev : “Dear guest of honor. Dear Mr. Gorbachev. It is a great honor for me to be selected by Mr. Gorbachev and the jury to receive the ‘World Arts Award 2002’. This year the motto of the World Awards is ‘Peace’ and Tolerance’. These values are especially dear to me. In my own heart and mind I stand united with you for peace, love and tolerance in the world. I have to thank Mr. Günther Stampf, Mr. Georg Kindel and I thank President Mikhail Gorbachev. I love you very much. Thank you so much. Thank you.”

August 29 : Michael goes to New York City to appear at the MTV Video Awards Ceremony, held at Radio City Music Hall, where Britney Spears presents him a birthday cake for his 44th birthday but Michael misundetstands and gives a thanking speech for the Artist of the Millenium award.

August : Michael releases a videotaped message addressing the victims of the severe flood in Germany. Following extremely heavy rain falls, the flood at the river Elbe in Germany caused damages which were estimated to run into billions. Hundreds of thousands of people had to be evacuated, thousands of houses were destroyed or are uninhabitable, several people were killed. The flood also caused severe damages in Austria and the Czech Republic and has been considered to be the worst in the last 100 years in this region. : “To the people of Germany: I send my deepest concern, my deepest and most heartfelt condolences. You are not alone, I am here in spirit with you. And you are in my prayers. Remember – God is with you. And have faith in the fact that this too shall pass. All my love and caring. I love you forever. Thank you.”

April 20 : At the Pasadena Civic Auditorium, Michael tapes a performance of “Dangerous” for Dick Clark’s 50th Anniversary of American Bandstand. This is Michael’s last performance on TV. He gives a short interview before the taping with Entertainment Tonight answering questions about his children.

January 9 : Chris Tucker presents the Artist of The Century Award to Michael at the American Music Awards held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. Michael’s speech : “First I would like to say; Chris Tucker, you are the funniest man in the world. Larry Cline, Dick Clark. [to Chris Tucker, handing him the award] Can you hold this for me? [while reaching in his pocket for a piece of paper] I’d like to thank people that are very important in my life. My mother and father, John McClain, Nicoletta Sotille, Rodney Jerkins, I think you’re a musical genius, and Teddy Riley. I love you Quincy Jones, you’re amazing. Trudy Green, Howard Kaufman, Suzzane De Passe, Tony Jones, Diana Ross, Marlon Brando, Gladys Knight, and my other father, Marlon Brando, I love you.”

2001

November 13 : CBS broadcasts an edited version of Michael’s concerts at the Madison Square Garden and gets great ratings.

November 12 : Entertainment Tonight airs the first footage of the “What More Can I Give” video. The song is ready but Sony doesn’t want to release it. They also refuse to put commercials for Michael’s new album during the airing of his concert on CBS.

November 7 : While in NYC, Michael gives several interviews to the TV shows TRL (MTV), Entertainment Tonight (CBS) et 106 & Park (BET).

October 15 : While Quincy Jones is promoting his autobiography On the Oprah Show, Michael calls him on the phone to congratulate him.

September 6 : Michael makes a surprise appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards at the Metropolitan Opera House, Lincoln Center in NYC to dance with N’Sync at the end of their performance.

March 19 : N’Sync induct Michael in the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame as a solo artist during a special presentation at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City. Michael invites Frank “Tyson” Cascio and Shmuley Boteach as his guests. MJ : “Berry Gordy, Berry Gordy, Berry Gordy, Berry Gordy. I just have to say thank you. He was so important in our lives, and he is really my real inspiration, and I owe him so much. Quincy Jones, thank you. We talk about a ‘Thriller,’ it’s Quincy. You’re incredible. I love you, Quincy. He is the man. The glamorous and talented and beautiful Diana Ross, who is my second mother–I thank you. […] To me, the gift of music has been a great blessing, from the time I was a child.” And referring to a broken foot he suffered in a fall at his Neverland home lately he apologized: “As you can see, there’s not going to be any moonwalking tonight because I broke my foot dancing — I fell down the stairs in California.”

March 15 : The German tv show “Wetten, dass..?” (ZDF) celebrated it’s 20th anniversary in 2001. Several celebrities, including Michael Jackson, sent messages to congratulate “Wetten, dass..?” and show host Thomas Gottschalk. Below follows a transcript of Michael’s audio message: “Hi, this is Michael Jackson. I would like to say hello to all my fans in Germany and ZDF. Congratulations for the 20th anniversary of ‘Wetten, dass…?’. Thomas, there will be at least 20 more successful years. Ich liebe Euch.” [“I love you” in German]”.

March 10 : Janet is the first artist to be honored with the MTV Icon Award during a TV Special on MTV. At the end, Jermaine, Jackie, Marlin & Tito go on stage to congratulate Janet. May 10 : Prince Albert of Monaco presents Michael with the Artist Of The Millenium Award at the very end of the World Music Awards ceremony in Monaco.

1999

December 08 : Michael gives an interview to Alex Colletti for “MTV: 100 Greatest Music Videos Ever Made”, where he discusses his creative process, the Three Stooges, innovation, contributing to the “Billie Jean”music video, and the idea of becoming a panther.

September 04 : Michael goes to Sun City with Grace, the Prince, Paris and the Cascios. He accepts a Lifetime Achievement award and presents a 165 000 dollars cheque to Nelson Mandela during the Kora All African Awards.

June 27 : Michael performs his second concert in Munich . During Earth Song, a technical problem occurs and the central section of The Bridge Of No Return collapses which hurts Michael’s feet and back (he’s taken to the hospital after the show). The show is broadcasted live on German TV.

June 25 : Michael performs performs at Chamsil Olympic Stadium in Seoul, Korea, for his “Michael Jackson & Friends” charity concert. He also speaks of Korea and its president at the time. He performs a medley (Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough”/”The Way You Make Me Feel”/”Scream”/”Beat It”/”Black or White”/”Billie Jean”), “Dangerous”, “Earth Song”, and “You Are Not Alone”. The concert is broadcasted live on Koean TV. Backstage he spends time with Boys 2 Men and Mariah Carey.

March 20 : Michael goes to Munich to announce the Michael Jackson & Friends Benefit Concerts during the German TV Show Wetten Dass.

July 10 : While in NYC, Michael & Don Barden give a short TV interview to Roz Abrams for Channel 7.

1997

November 25 : Debbie Rowe gives an interview to KNBC filmed at Neverland where she denies tabloid rumors of an affair between Michael & Lisa Marie & announces that she is pregnant with a baby girl that she & Michael want to name Paris Michael Katherine. In the interview, we can see Michael and Prince at Neverland.

September 7 : Michael gives an interview for US TV show 20/20 with Barbara Walters from his Parisian hotel. The interview is aired on September 12 on ABC.

May 6 : Michael flies to Cleveland, Ohio, to be inducted in the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame in a special Presentation with His bothers by Diana Ross & Berry Gordy! Joe, Katherine & Barry Gibb are also present at the event. Randy does not attend the presentation.

May 5 : Michael & Tarak Ben Ammar attend the Italian TV Award Ceremony Telegatti in Milano where Michael presents an award with Luciano Pavarotti. Michael works on a duet project with Pavarotti Called “What More Can I Give”.

February 16 : Michael attends “Happy Birthday, Elizabeth Taylor: A Celebration of Life” gala held at the Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles. He arrives on the red carpet with Elizabeth and they pose for pictures. For the occasion he performs a song that he just recorded in Montreux called “Elizabeth I Love You” and gets a standing ovation by the galaxy of stars attending the event. The show is filmed and airs on February 27, 1997 on ABC.

February 15 : Michael rehearses for Elizabeth Taylor tribute.

1996

December 11 : Michael arrives at Haneda Airport in Tokyo, Japan. Michael gives an interview to NTV discussing love from fans, Ghosts, and being an expectant father. At one point, an alarm keeps going off on someone’s watch and Michael can’t suppress his laughter.

November 19 : Michael gives a TV interview to Molly Meldrum for “Hey Hey It’s Saturday”.

November 10 : Michael gives an interview to VH1 answering selected questions by viewers.

Late July : Michael gives an interview to MBC (Middle East Broadcasting Center), answering some questions from children, discussing countries that musically influenced him, racism, family wishes, his audiences, collaborating, his recent stay at Sun City, and his “Heal the World Foundation”.

June 6 : Michael appears on MTV Asia’s Channel 5.

May 8 : Michael attends the World Music Awards in Monaco . He performs “Earth Song” and wins 5 awards. At the end of the ceremony he gets on stage to hug Diana Ross who’s performing. He also addresses the controversy over “They Don’t Care About Us” claiming to never have been anti-Semitic.

February 19 : Michael performs “Earth Song” at the Brit Awards in London and he is almost interrupted by Jarvis Cocker, the leader of the British Band Pulp and he also receives the award of Artist Of A Generation presented by Bob Geldof.

December 25 : Michael’s message on “Top of the Pops” airs, wishing everyone a happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year.

December 3 : Michael’s acceptance of the “Best Male Solo Artist Award” via video at the “Smash Hits Poll Winners’ Party” in London airs.

November 22 : Michael’s performance of “Dangerous” on Soul Train’s 25th Anniversary special airs on TV.

November 4 : Michael goes to Rhein-Ruhr-Halle, the ZDF studio in Duisburg, Germany where he performs “Dangerous” and “Earth Song” on Wetten, dass..? TV show. Michael is presented with a Golden Otto Awards.

October 31 : Michael tapes a performance of Dangerous & You Are Not Alone at the Soul Train 25th Anniversary Special taped at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Pasadena. The show airs on November 22.

September 22 : Michael attends “BET’s 15th Anniversary Gala” in Washington D.C., performing “You Are Not Alone”. Robert L. Johnson, BET’s president, presents him a special plaque.

September 7 : Michael & Janet attend the MTV Video Music Awards at the Radio City Music Hall in New York City with Lisa Marie & Rene . MJ opens the ceremony with a 20 minutes long medley (including “Dangerous” & “You Are Not Alone”) and accepts an award with Janet for Scream.

August 25 : In Los Angeles, Michael rehearses a medley performance with Lavelle Smith for the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards.

July 28 : ABC airs a special feature called “Michael Jackson Changes History” during which Michael gives an interview to Bill Bellamy and premieres the video for “You Are Not Alone”. The interview was taped on July 25 in NYC.

June 22 : Michael attends the VH1 Awards at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. He makes a surprise performance og “We Are The World” with Boys 2 Men and he is also presented with the “VH1 International Honors Award” from Morgan Freeman for his charity efforts.

June 14 : Michael & Lisa Marie give an interview to ABC’s Primetime Live with Diane Sawyer. The “History” teaser and “Scream” short film are aired during the TV Special. Elizabeth Taylor’s taped interview is also feautured.

1994

September 8 : Michael & Lisa Marie open the MTV Video Music Awards Ceremony with a big kiss live from Radio City Music Hall in New York City.

February 19 : The whole Jackson family (except LaToya) is reunited at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas to rehearse & tape The Jackson Family Honors TV Special which is broadcasted a few days later around the world. Michael does not perform but he presents two lifetime achievement awards to Berry Gordy & Elizabeth Taylor . His date for the night is Lisa Marie Presley. At the end Michael sings the song “If You’d Only Believe” with the whole family (except LaToya & Janet). The Jacksons performs “2300 Jackson Street” with Rebbie & the grandchildren including 3T.

January 5 : Michael gives a moving speech to claim his innocence at the NAACP Image Awards Ceremony at Pasadena Civic Auditorium. He also presents the award for Best Choreographer to Debbie Allen.

1993

December 22 : Live from Neverland and around the world, Michael makes a 4 minutes statement where he claims his innocence and reveals that earlier this week he was forced by the LAPD and SBPD to submit to a photo session of his body and genitals.

November 12 : Michael announces in an audio-taped message that he is cancelling the rest of the tour in order to seek treatment for an addiction to painkillers.

August 14 : Michael accepts the “Our Children, Our Hope Of Tomorrow Award” at the “Jack the Rapper Awards” via video message.

June 19 : Michael gives a short interview at Neverland for MTV’s “My Weekend at Michael’s Neverland Valley Contest” and chooses a grand-prize winner. Contestants had sent in their home made videos for Michael’s song, ‘Who Is It’, and 3 winners were invited to stay the weekend. Michael would choose the winner of the best video, who would get $10,000 and an opportunity to direct an Epic Records music video.

May 12 : Michael attends the World Music Awards in Monaco with Jordy, Lily & June. Michael is presented with three awards by Michael Douglas, Prince Albert & Princess Stephanie. The ceremony is broadcasted later on TV channels around the world.

March 9 : Michael attends the Soul Train Awards at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles with Bill Bray where he is presented with two awards + the Humanitarian Award Of The Year presented by Eddie Murphy. He also perfoms “Remember The Time” seated in a gold chair because he twisted his ankle the night before (Wayne & Bill help him to the podium on a wheelchair!).

March 8 : Michael sprains his ankle during rehearsals for his “Soul Train Music Awards” performance.

February 26 : Michael talks about Elizabeth Taylor in a video for the Arts & Entertainment Network.

February 24 : Michael attends the Grammy Awards with Brooke Schields at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. Janet presents him with the Grammy Legend Award. Following the presentation, Michael & Brooke attend the Polygram Party at A&M Studios and later show up at the Sony Party in Century City.

February 10 : “Michael Jackson Talks…to Oprah” is aired live from Neverland Valley Ranch all around the world attracting around 100 million viewers. During the interview, Michael reveals that he suffers from a skin disorder that destroys the pigmentation of his skin. He also shows his ranch to the world, premieres the video of “Give In To Me” and improvises a beat box on “Who Is It” after doing the Moonwalk. Elizabeth Taylor makes a surprise appearance to support him. Karen Faye & Debbie Rowe are also present.

January 31 : Michael performs a medley of “Jam”, “Bilie Jean”, “Black Or White” and “Heal The World” at the Superbowl Halftime Show in the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena before an audience of 100 000 in the stadium and 133 millions on TV.

January 25 : Michael opens the American Music Awards ceremony held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles with a performance of “Dangerous”. He also receives three awards including the first ever International Artist Award presented by Elizabeth Taylor & Eddie Murphy.

January 19 : Michael appears on the televised “The 52nd Presidential Inaugural Gala” in Landover, Maryland at The Capital Centre in honor of President Bill Clinton, making an appeal on behalf of AIDS sufferers and his friend Ryan White. MJ performs “Gone Too Soon” and “Heal the World”. At the end, he joins Fleetwood Mac and other celebrities on the finale of “Don’t Stop”.

January 17 : Michael appears on the televised “Call for Reunion” concert at the Lincoln Memorial for “America’s Reunion on the Mall”, a festival for Bill Clinton’s upcoming inauguration. MJ joins other celebrities (including Diana Ross & Stevie Wonder) on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C,  to sing “We Are The World” and “America the Beautiful”.

January 16 : Michael attends the NAACP Image Awards with Katherine at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Pasadena. He gives a speech upon being awarded the 25th Silver Anniversary Entertainer of the Year Award following a tribute performance of “Will You Be There” by Patti Labelle & gospel singer Daryl Coley. Michael sings with the group as a finale for the award ceremony.

December 26 : During “Parade Of Stars”, a telethon for donations to the “United Negro College Fund”, Michael speaks on the importance of equal rights to education and on the “Michael Jackson Scholarship Program” benefits. A taped performance of “Heal The World” is contributed for the show.

December 25 : Michael’s message on “Top of the Pops” airs, telling people to keep loving one another even after Christmas, and briefly talks of his Heal the World Foundation.

December 9 : At the Billboard Music Awards, Michael accepts three awards through a video presentation filmed earlier with Phil Collins at Neverland Michael accepts the “No. 1 World Album Award” for “Dangerous”, “No. 1 World Single Award” for “Black or White”, and the “Special Award Commemorating the 10th Anniversary of ‘Thriller'”.

December 6 : Michael’s acceptance of the “Best Male Solo Artist Award” via video at the “Smash Hits Poll Winners’ Party” in London airs.

December 3 : Michael’s message on “Top of the Pops” airs, thanking fans in the UK for the success of “Heal the World”, stating that all of the proceeds will go to the “Heal the World Foundation”, and revealing the message behind his song.

November : Michael releases a video statement on BBC’s “Going Live!” magazine show, in which he announces a press conference discussing world concerns and their solutions, as well as raising further awareness on his Heal the World Foundation’s mission; he also announces a “Heal the World” contest.

October 10 : Cable TV network HBO broadcasts another version of the Bucharest concert earning the highest cable TV ratings in history!

September 2 : Michael phones to Ryan White’s mother during her appearance at the Maury Povich US TV Show.

September 9 : Michael’s short speech for MTV’s “Choose or Lose” campaign, encouraging young adults to register and vote in America, airs during the “MTV Video Music Awards”.

August 28 : Michael appears on “Bim Bam Bino”, a children’s television show, and is presented with a check for his “Heal the World Foundation”.

March 29 : MTV airs “My Dinner with MJ” contest. 30 winners selected out of over 4 Million entries realized the dream of a lifetime: they were Michael’s and MTV’s special guests that night at the party, which was attended by a hundred privileged guests. The huge dinner party was held in the desert, fifty miles outside the holiday resort of Palm Springs, just yards away from where Michael had been shooting his “In the Closet” short film.

1991

November 16 : Michael tapes a performance of “Black Or White” & “Will You Be There” at the Santa Monica Airport in Santa Monica for the MTV’s 10th Anniversary Special to be aired on November 27th. After Michael finished recording his performance, Janis DaSilva, an American reporter for the English magazine Off The Wall, created and managed by Adrian Grant, presents him with the Off The Wall Appreciation Award on behalf of the magazine’s team and readers.

September 19 : Michael’s voice acting performance in the Simpsons episode “Stark Raving Dad” airs on FOX.

February 20 : Michael calls in for the Bee Gees episode of “This is Your Life”, a British documentary series, to pay tribute to the group and his inspiration from their “Saturday Night Fever” album during the “Thriller” album sessions.

1990

October 5 : Michael’s off-camera interview discussing Quincy Jones, included in the “Listen Up: The Lives of Quincy Jones” film, is released.

February 4 : ABC airs the Tribute to Sammy Davis Jr’s 60th year in Show Business.

February 3 : Michael receives a Role Model Award from Japon which he accepts via satellite.

January : Michael accepts the MTV Vanguard award of the decade by MTV CEO Tom Freston and Adam Curry, for his excellence in video and his inspiration to others.
