February 8 : Michael Jackson Estate allegedly selling Michael’s catalogue

March 8 : Katherine Jackson will not be at Jeffre Phillips’ trial

March 11 : Michael Jackson Estate demand of transaction objected by Katherine Jackson

April 11 : The Michael Jackson Estate demands to be allowed to inspect the allegedly stolen property in the possession of Jeffree Phillips

April 18 : Last November, the Estate of Michael Jackson asked permission to the court to go ahead with a secret transaction. The court documents are sealed and non of us know what this is about but speculations point out to the selling of Michael’s catalogue. Last month, Katherine Jackson filled an objection to the transaction in question. Now the Estate led by John Branca, is asking the court to dismiss Katherine’s objections to the proposed transaction and to move forward with the deal in question. In their motion, the estate lays out how they turned Michael’s estate around. Branca and McClain said when they took over the pop star was drowning in debt. The estate said none of Michael’s children have raised issues with the deal. The executors argue Katherine should not be allowed to prevent the three beneficiaries from benefiting from the deal and they said that Katherine’s objections are “misplaced”.

May 23 : The dispute between the Michael Jackson Estate and Katherine Jackson regarding a secret deal is still on going. New court documents revealed that the Estate is fearing the legal opposition from Katherine Jackson might jeopardise the deal. “Given the amount of time that an appeal will take, almost certainly more than a year, it is unlikely that this deal will be on the table for the Executors to accept at the conclusion of appellate proceedings, Offer of this magnitude are not typically left open for months or years at a time, with no certainty that they will ever close. This is particularly true here since the economics of the deal necessarily change with the passage of time.”The filing noted that one family member’s objection is not that the deal is bad but rather the family member does not want to proceed with any such transaction of the kind. It seems that the whole secret deal is about the selling of Michael Jackson own music catalog. Both McClain and Branca claimed in court that the loss could be greater than $400 Million! The judge still have to take a decision on the matter.

May 28 : Following the Michael Jackson Estate demanding to inspect the allegedly stolen property in the possession of Jeffree Phillips, Jeffree will be turning over personal property owned by Michael Jackson to a third party to safeguard while he continues to fight the estate over claims he stole the items. Jeffree was ordered by the court to produce 109 CDs/DVDs, five hard drives, three silver-colored Apple Macintosh laptop computers, two iPods, two Dictaphones with two micro-cassettes and three standard cassette tapes. The property will be stored by a man named Kevin Singer. Singer is a specialist Court-Appointed Court Receiver and his role is to preserve assets where there is a dispute within a partnership or a company pending a decision on the matters of dispute. The Michael Jackson property will be in safe hands until the dispute is settled.

June 27 : Wade Robson’s case to go on trial

The California Court of Appeal just cleared the way for Robson to make his case in court. The trial court favoured the Estate’s argument, but the Court of Appeal begged to differ, and according to a tentative ruling the case will be sent back down for trial. Robson sued the MJ corporation in 2013 and The California Court of Appeal has reversed the 2021 decision dismissing his case. The case was originally dismissed in 2017 after a judge found it was filed past the statute of limitations. However, a new law extending the time for child victims to file legal claims revived the case in 2019. Then, in 2021, the judge ruled that Michael’s company had no legal duty to protect Robson from any alleged harm.

June 30 : LaToya Jackson, Michael’s sister and ex-fiance of Jeffre Phillips will be called as a witness according to the court documents. Phillips plans to use Latoya as part of his defense in the case. He claimed, “had the Estate simply asked for the property and not resorted to the premeditated set-up and bullying tactics, I would have called La Toya to inform her that the Estate was requesting the items, and the two of us would have then called her mother. If Ms. Jackson instructed me to give the property back to the Estate, I would have done so.”

July 19 : Jeffree Phillips, who is being sued by the Michael Jackson Estate over allegedly stolen items from Michael Jackson home just few days after his death, is asking the court to delay the trial to be able to build his defense.

Phillips has requested the sheduled trial date of September 6, 2023 to be pushed by 6 months as his lawyer still wants to depose Michael’s 93 year old mother Katherine along with the two co-executors of the Estate, John McClain and John Branca.

Phillips also said that he had to change lawyer and this new lawyer needs more time to catch up on the case. He even said that the extra time would allow the parties to continue settlement discussions.

August 18 : APPEALS UPDATE: Court Publishes Final Opinion – Unchanged from Tentative. The court has reversed both dismissals of Wade/James back to trial court. Based on the tentative and judge demeanor in oral arguments, this is no surprise. The litigants continue.

Statement from the estate on the appeal reversal : “…We remain fully confident that Michael is innocent of these allegations, which are contrary to all credible evidence and independent corroboration…motivated solely by money. We trust that the truth will ultimately prevail.”

September 07 : Within less than 24hrs, the court of appeal of the State of California has already denied the Petition for Rehearing deposited by the Michael Jackson Estate on September 05. The court appeal has denied the petition on September 06, meaning that they will not revise their decision for the Robson case to go to trial. However, fan experts in US laws are positive about this as it seems this was expected and planned by the Estate. The Estate’s plan is to go to the Supreme Court of the United States as this is the ultimate power decision in the US court system. The petition being denied will build their case for the Supreme Court and reverse the Appeal court decision.

September 26 : The Estate of Michael Jackson files petition to the Supreme court

The estate of Michael Jackson has just filed a 42-page petition seeking review from the California supreme court in the Robson/Safechuck case. The Estate hopes to that the Supreme court will reverse the court of appeal of the State of California that was denied at the beginning of the month. We will update you as soon as the Supreme Court issued an answer. The petition was filed on September 26, 2023.

October 05 : After a long and public exposure of the lawsuit between Jeffree Phillips and the Estate of Michael Jackson, both came to settlement.

“The litigation between the Estate of Michael Jackson and Jeffré Phillips has been amicably resolved without the need for a trial and without any findings or admissions of wrongdoing. Mr. Phillips has voluntarily returned Michael Jackson’s property to the Estate. All outstanding disputes between the parties have been settled on confidential terms. We wish Mr. Phillips well in his future endeavors. ” said Jonathan Steinsapir, counsel for the Co-Executors of the Estate of Michael Jackson.

Michael Jackson’s estate is no longer arguing with Jeffree who allegedly stole $1 million worth of MJ property from Michael’s Carolwood estate. The parties just told the court there’s a settlement.
According to new legal documents, Michael’s estate settled its legal dispute with Jeffré Phillips, who was accused of taking tons of Michael’s belongings in 2009, after the singer died.It is unknown if the pressure to make Katherine and LaToya Jackson testifying in this case has a play into the settlement.
The terms of the settlement are confidential, though it’s worth noting the Estate had been asking the judge to help return the property.

November 16 : The estate of Michael Jackson’s petition for review of the appeal’s reversal has been denied. The Robson/Safechuck case will therefore go to trial so brace yourself for another years of fighting for justice.

December 30 : According to court documents, Katherine Jackson, 93, is demanding the Michael Jackson Estate to pay $561,548 for her legal fees, fighting against the secret deal the Estate is planning. While her appeal is still ongoing in court, Katherine Jackson stated that the Estate was responsible for reimbursing her legal fees. Katherine said her law firm had to interview family members, gather documents, prepare exhibits for trial, prepare trial briefs, prepare witnesses, examine and cross-examine witnesses, and various other tasks. She said from April 1, 2023, to November 30, 2023, the law firm billed her $561,548.48 for a portion of the appeal work. Katherine argued that the estate is solvent and has “ample resources and much more than will be necessary to pay its anticipated expenses.” The executors have yet to respond on that matter and the court has still to take a decision on Katherine’s appeal against the processing of the secret deal.
