One of the songs listed by MJ on a handwritten note of songs he wanted to finish in June 2009. The song was registered with U.S. Copyright Office in 2010 and credits Neff-U for the production. Remains unreleased.

La-La (Means I Love You) : Recorded late 1969/early 1970. Released on May 8, 1970 (ABC).

Lavendar Blue : Disney song recorded with The Jackson 5 in early 70’s. Remains unreleased.

Learned My Lesson aka Much Too Soon : “Much Too Soon” was first written back in 1981, originally titled “Learned My Lesson”. It was created during the Thriller sessions and two versions of the song were registered with U.S. Copyright Office in 1982. The song was picked up again during HIStory sessions in 1994. It was first reworked and recorded as an acoustic guitar + vocal song, and later with harmonica and orchestra. The production was done with John McClain. Seems to have been considered for the final track list. In 2010, the track was completed for the posthumous album, Michael. A different mixing and additional production was added with McClain returning to work on the song. On January 13, 2020, multitracks for “Much Too Soon” leaked, which included a 1994 demo with Jackson singing over an acoustic guitar. Original demo remains unreleased.

Liberian Girl (demo 1) : Recorded in 1983 with John Barnes (MJ speaks about it in the “Hayvenhurst” home video in 1983). Bill Bottrell on X (January 18, 2025) : “I’m sure “Liberian Girl” was started fresh at Hayvenhurst with John Barnes, Michael, and me. So this was an early version completely erased from my memory.” December 21, 1983 : Recording session at Hayvenhurst for “Liberian Girl”.

Light the Way : Written by Michael Jackson, Sheik Abdullah of Bahrain. MJ recorded vocals during his stay in Bahrain in 2005-2005 but the song was never completed. Damien Shields : “has a horn section intro, and a choir in the choruses. According to my notes, the choir sings: “Light the way, let’s pray for peace”. Slow song. No lead vocal on what I heard. Just music + choral chorus. I haven’t heard a song with the title “Pray For Peace,” but I heard Light The Way, and the words sung by the choir in the hook of Light The Way include: “let’s pray, pray for peace”… But I don’t know if they’re the same song, connected, or completely different/unrelated songs”. Remains unreleased.

LIKE YOU (aka “LIKE U”) : It was written by Babyface, and apart of the failed auction. The song is featured on multiple tapes, one featuring the track “Diana Ross”, another featuring a track named New Jelly. Remains unreleased.

Listen I’ll Tell You How : Recorded in May-August 1969 with the Jackson 5. Released posthumously on November 10, 2009 (I Want You Back! Unreleased Masters).

Little Bitty Pretty One : Recorded with The Jackson 5 in 1971-1972. Released on May 23, 1972 (Lookin’ Through the Windows).

Little Christmas Tree : Recorded in 1970 with The Jackson 5. Released in 2003 (Jackson 5 Christmas Album remaster).

Little Girls : Written by MJ. Cited by MJ in his 1993 deposition. Remains unreleased.

Lonely Heart : Recorded in 1967 with The Jackson. Released in 1989 (Beginning Years 1967-1968).

Lonely Man : Written by MJ. Cited by MJ in his 1993 deposition. Remains unreleased.

Lonely Teardrops : Recorded July – August 1972. Released on February 11, 1986 (Looking Back to Yesterday).

Lookin Through The Window : Recorded with The Jackson 5 in 1971-1972. Released on May 23, 1972 (Lookin’ Through the Windows).

Looser aka I Was A Looser : New version of “I Am A Looser” recorded late 2008 in Michael’s Bel Air Hotel suite. One of the songs listed by MJ as “The Looser” on a handwritten note of songs he wanted to finish in June 2009. Short snippet leaked online but full demo remains unreleased.

In November 2008, Rod Temperton has a meeting with MJ at his hotel suite during which MJ plays Rod several songs. Some of the songs already had lyrics, which MJ wanted to improve. Others were instrumentals without any lyrics at all. The songs MJ plays for Rod are Best of Joy, Hollywood Tonight, The Loser, The Way Your Love Me, Beautiful Girl, Dark Lady, DIE, and Can’t Stop Loving You.

LOST IN LOVE : Recorded in 1994, and apart of the failed auction. Considered lost. Remains unreleased.
