RECORDING DATE
The song was produced by Steve Porcaro, who also co-written the song with Jackson. He previously worked on “Human Nature”, a song from the Thriller album, in which “Dream Away” shares similarities, he also mentioned that “Dream Away” was recorded by Jackson during the Victory sessions, to be specific in November 1983, and that it was intended for the album.
Similarly to “Chicago 1945”, Porcaro was asked about including the song on Xscape in 2014, although he didn’t approve of it as he doesn’t support the estate’s “straight to remix” approach.
