November 22, 2019 : Michael Jackson’s Life Getting Movie Treatment; ‘The Aviator’s Graham King & John Logan Reteam, And MJ Estate Aboard : EXCLUSIVE: Bohemian Rhapsody producer Graham King has secured from the Michael Jackson estate the rights to make a film of the complicated pop icon’s life with access to all of his music, sources say. King’s GK Films has retained three-time Oscar-nominated writer John Logan to pen the script. It is not set up at a studio at this point.

May 22, 2021 : Confirmed: The Michael Jackson Estate is working on a biopic

The rumours have been going around since 2017 and after “Bohemian Rhapsody”, the Queen’s biopic, more rumours about a Michael Jackson Biopic surfaced. Few days ago, The Hits Daily Double interviewed David Lande, David Byrnes and John Branca from Ziffren Brittenham about being the best entertainment and corporate attorneys. During a very short interview of all 3, John Branca said: “As the co-producer of the Michael Jackson: ONE show in Las Vegas and the MJ biopic and Broadway play we have in development, the work has been ongoing. I’m looking forward to once again putting Michael’s music and the work done by the talented team of the producers, directors, choreographers, dancers, actors and other creators involved in these productions in front of his fans and the public. The Estate of Michael Jackson continues to develop projects that honor the life and music of, in the memorable words of Berry Gordy, “the greatest entertainer who ever lived.””

February 7, 2022 : Michael Jackson Biopic: Lionsgate Boards King of Pop Film From ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ Producer Graham King : Lionsgate will distribute a new Michael Jackson biopic that will be produced by “Bohemian Rhapsody’s” Graham King. The film is being made with the cooperation of the Michael Jackson estate, which may impact how it deals with the multiple allegations of child sexual abuse that were brought against the King of Pop over the course of his career and following his 2009 death.

Entitled “Michael,” the film will be produced by King, who mined similar terrain with Freddie Mercury, and the co-executors of the Michael Jackson estate, John Branca and John McClain. The screenplay is by three-time Oscar nominee John Logan. King and Logan previously collaborated on Martin Scorsese’s “The Aviator.” Lionsgate will distribute the film worldwide.
