August : During a break in the “Good Times” series filming, Janet visits Michael & LaToya in NYC and they take her to Studio 54.
September 21 : Janet makes her acting debut on CBS’s hit sitcom “Good Times” as Penny Gordon Woods. She joins the cast at the start of season 5 and will appear in all 24 episodes of the season.
October 05 : Birth of Yashi Brown : Second child of Rebbie & Nathaniel.
October 25 : The cast of The Wiz helds a party (“Goin’ Places with The Wiz) in Michael’s honor at Studio 54, in celebration of his acting debut and The Jackson’s 2nd album Goin’ Places release. Katherine, Jackie, Marlon, Tito, Randy, LaToya and Janet attend the party which is hosted by Epic Records. Invitations were in the form of airline tickets in keeping with the “Goin’ Places” theme.
November : Randy, Janet, Marlon, Tito, and Joe attend the Annual Television Parade of Stars in Los Angeles.
November 10 : Janet is on the cover of Jet Magazine with her TV mom Ja’net DuBois.
November 17 : Michael & Janet go shopping at Barney’s clothing store in NYC.
December : Michael gives an interview to Steve Manning from his New York’s East Side appartment. Steve is greeted by LaToya who just finished preparing breakfast for Michael. The interview is published on the January 1978 issue of Black Stars magazine which features Michael on the cover. In the same. In the same issue, Janet gives on of her first interview to Jason Winters and makes a photosession. Janet, 11 years old is already concerned with her weight : « I love to eat but now being on television, I have to watch it. I don’t want to gain too much weight ». She also talks about her brother : “I miss Michael a lot but I’ve sorta gotten used to him being away. He travels a lot”.
